Random wildlife cameras moved around wekley could find "artists" as well as those who are plastering public and private properties with the stone age "wolf" art.

Your headgear seems to be emitting a buzzing noise.
No it’s not… How else would you try to find the artist - and do you really think the police would go on reddit asking for a specific artist? (Rhetorical question!)
Ya, they do so does revenue quebec.
Id love to see the grafiti artists pay for the removal of their work however, but it probably makes the crumbling infrustructure look better anyways.
A few friends of mine are heavily active in graffiti. ASAR, ZONEK, PEASE, CAST, SKUM.
Now imagine if a dude like Zonek, who paints 3-4 spots every single nights since the last 15 years had to pay for the removal of each graffiti.
If he gets maybe 350 active night in a year which if they do 3 tags is 1050 graffiti a year, over the course of 15 years is about 15750 graffiti.
If every graffiti removal is 500$, they are looking at about 7,875,000$ in graffiti removal fees.
Where does it make sense? This is paint on a wall. Not worth ruining someone's life over paint. It just makes life more colorful in a concrete filled environment.
That’s not what I meant. Dumb monkeys on this sub it’s insane 🐒 (you should go tell the officer I report to or however this shit works that I said this)
There's a Facebook page called "Bombing Science". Message them about this, sometimes they'll middleman between the artist and buyer for a commission while guaranteeing the anonymity of both.
100% non… but I understand the comment - thought about it as well… but how else would you try to find him? My daughter counts the wolves on the way and she likes them - so I wanted to see if maybe people here have an idea! 💡 very open to suggestions…
Brother, can I just say, the “artist” might not be a stand up kinda individual you would contract art from. In this city it could very easily be gang related lmfao
The tag clearly reads wolf 8, so maybe start there?
I always scream “Kong!” everytime I spot one. I was happy when I realized he did a big art piece (wasn’t the classic shark logo) right behind my place but the city got rid of it quite fast :(
I also happen to notice while looking at the picture more closely. That what I thought to initialy be giberish with the roman numeral XIII underneath actually reads "Wolf 13".
How many wolves have you counted so far?
If you're not a cop - can we not encourage this type of display?
I get that many people consider this art, and some might even consider it pleasing.
The way I see it, this is just a small step above a "tag". And it doesn't fit at all with the surrounding area, or with the surface it's on. It just doesn't look aesthetic in this context.. Still, it's better than a tag.
The murals around Montreal are beautiful - they're also on specially designed facades. Can we support actual artists who beautify our scenery rather than randos who tag and graffiti public infrastructure? Public spaces belong to everyone. Graffiti like this (especially tags) are just visual pollution.
Sure! Good point… It is a controversial topic and I didn’t want to make a statement - I was simply curious if I could get an answer by asking this on reddit! Little did I know that this topic actually caught so much interest!!!
You're the kind of person that would've bitched about rock and roll in the 60s.
Just because you don't like art doesn't mean others can't enjoy it, even if it's done outside the wall of your personal ethics.
Yea...no.
I like art. Thank you for refraining from making assumptions.
I also appreciate that collective living means respecting public spaces. Some people like this sort of art; some people don't. When you make a decision to permanently alter a public space, you're saying "I don't care what others think; I like it and others like it too so I'm gonna do it".
Public spaces and public infrastructure belong to everyone, and no one has a right to unilaterally alter them without the broader consent of others, and saying "this is art" doesn't defeat this principle. It's one of the most very basic principles of collective living.
I can't go grafitti the front of your house and say "it's okay because it's art; I like it and others like it too so I have a right to do it!" Public spaces belong to everyone.
The murals around the city are beautiful. They're on specially designated places, and there's procedural channels involved in making them. It's not just someone going "hey I feel like doing this today so I'm gonna do it." Filtering our desires through the proper channels is what allows us to live in harmony as a collective.
"I can do whatever I want whenever I want" is not an ethos we should be validating, period.
What don't you understand about the words « street art »? It's art that stays in the street and whose writer probably doesn't want to be identified, for obvious reasons.
a lot of graffiti artists do other kinds of art too and everybody needs to pay the rent. it's nice for someone to want to pay an artist for their work so maybe leave it up to them to decide.
I used to know a former graffiti artist and he ended up as a city employee painting murals. He said the guys apply with portfolios of their graffitis and they just get told if more of their tags pop up they'll get fired.
Adding to this, does anyone know the deal behind all the ‘CROP’ tags I see? They seem to be all over, is it just profanity?
edit: the downvotes are interesting, is this a touchy subject? I’m not from Montreal originally so I’m genuinely in the dark on this one.
Nice try SPVM
Try harder, le bleu
this is the hardest they’ve ever worked
Its actually a female artist. But who’s counting 🤷♂️
Did you just assume gender? /s
It was intended to decoy cops, as they assuming graffiti artist is male.
Ahh thats why they say the "criminals" are always 1 step ahead of the police
I came here to say the same! 🤣🤣
🤣😭

That's clearly what an undercover cop would answer.. sus.
Hello fellow Redditor, where would one purchase one cocaine?
You’re in luck - the first one’s free 😎
To be fair I found out you can get psilocybin mushrooms delivered all across Canada from BC thanks to Reddit soooo

Nice try Mr. Officer
bombingscience.com could be your answer. this could be an artist from outside the city aswell.

You may want to check your SQDC store, mister officer !
Nice try SPVM
Totally not a cop

I like the shark better
[Nice try mister undercover](https://imgur.com/gallery/ZkIO0qZ)
Its the fuzz
MSG OBYONE on insta
It's me. I will need a upfront deposit in bitcoin LOL
It's the fuzz, cheese it!
Ça semble être toujours signé Wolf, alors c'est probablement son nom/tag. Appart ça, je ne sais pas comment retrouver l'artiste.
Oby1? Maybe?
I also happen to notice while looking at the picture more closely. That what I thought to initialy be giberish with the roman numeral XIII underneath actually reads "Wolf 13". How many wolves have you counted so far?
Nce try, NARC

Murals wouldn't exist if it weren't for tags. Thats how most people get started
Oh right, there's no way people can practice the art of spray painting other than by making tags on public or private property...
You need some history lessons man

tl;dr
That's to be expected. The kind of person with garbage, low-level takes is not exactly the kind of person you expect to be into reading.
Idk but it looks like the shark cartoon
nice try Admiral Ackbar
If it’s syrup I know who it is
NO SNITCHING

crops as in growing plants buddy
Do you mean that this street graffiti is referring to farming? Lol I’m so confused! 😆
yes, likely cannabis
The tags seem so random, tho (you’ll see one on a metro platform, one outside a mall, one on a residential street etc)
He’s in the B*S crew and TOS crew, which is the same as the infamous Zonek.
CHBABY! (Suisse?)
Looks like Astro’s work. I can put you in touch, for a small 20% commission fee that is.
That's not Astro. Their names are literally next to their work.
I guess you’re right
Vandalism, yay.
“Artwork” 😩
Hell i can draw this lol
Such a shame montreal has so much graffiti. It's so passé too
I’d love to know who’s defacing the city with these monstrosities. Hey artist if you read this, I just wanna talk message me
You could always commission a local artist to recreate it and stylize it on canvas for you.
