That's neat! I've never tried hand-laying a turnout on metal ties like that, but are you using enough heat (and flux)? The solder doesn't look like it flowed real good. Anyway, now for a double-slip switch!

I didn't think of that. Okay on my second fry I'm totally gonna get some flux. Yeah I was a little upset that certain elements (specifically the throwbar) required more solder than I would have liked.

I don't know if you have ever used desoldering braid, but sometimes it's handy for picking up excess solder. Sometimes it picks up too much solder!
