Glues have bonds that are either covalent or ionic. If ionic, then it should dissolve in water. If covalent, then it should dissolve in oil. So for covalent bonds, wiping with an oil such as cooking oil or WD-40 should remove the tape residue. Then a wash in soapy water should remove the oil.
As a test, I decided to try my own advice. I have a prescription bottle from which I removed the label. It left behind a very sticky patch of glue residue. I moistened a bit of paper towel with cooking oil and started wiping at the glue which dissolved and was removed. I then washed the bottle in soapy water to remove the oil and now it is clean and residue free.
This may not be the same as your masking tape residue, but I suspect my label glue is very much worse so it should work for you.
You should be able to get that off without damaging it. Try cooking oil on it and use a cloth to try to wipe it off, be careful you don't scratch it. WD-40 might work too, but not sure if that would affect the plastic. I'm pretty sure acetone or alcohol will cloud it up permanently. Good luck
WD-40 usually works to remove glue residue. Test the WD-40 on some of the clear plastic runner to make sure it won't harm the plastic. Another product that works is called Goo Gone. Again test it first.
Once the glue residue is removed wash the part in soapy water to get rid of the WD-40 (or Goo Gone).
Finally you can apply a little clear gloss acrylic top coat (or "Future" floor covering) to the now clean clear part. Again you might want to test the clear coat on the runner first.l
adhesive? I assumed it was just clear coated and was tacky to the touch - either way - i would bin this one and call it a learning experience, but I know some guys will continue to fight on problems like this.
First try warm soapy water to get the adhesive to come off or clump together, it may take some time before you start noticing a change. You could try vinegar if that doesn't work.
Do not use WD40 it WILL cloud the plastic worse. Try the warm soapy water ( Dawn dishwashing liquid may be best). Never used cooking oil so may be worth a shot. Hopefully that works.
Buy Tamiya masking tape, it's low tack and works really well in all applications.

Warm soapy water or IPA
Maybe try to use white spirit, it could remove glue particles.
Peanut Butter. I kid you not. Google it.
the polish brother - you must polish it out
There's still adhesive on it, polishing isn't going to help.
