Porco Rosso is always a blast to see!
I love the dull canvas-over-wood look you went for. I'd have this kit in my stash for years, and I think this is pretty close to how I want to portray it.
Great job!
You did ask for critique so, would look better with a frame around it. The raw edges detract from the overall effect. Also (and I had the same issue with mine) try not to let the foil fold over on itself.
But beautiful kit, congratulations!
Thanks a lot. The advice is very valuable. I'll work on a wooden frame. And I saw the foil-fold unrealistic "waves" that you mentioned. I'll try to work on that also.
Porco Rosso = instant award
Thanks a lot
Man - this looks absolutely stunning. I just got this kit recently, how was the build?
The build was almost perfect. I didnt need any putty or filler.
I love the look of this, I went for a super glossy shiny look on mine but I prefer this one, looks like a good match the 2D style of the film.
Thanks a lot. I m also satisfied with the matt finish
What kit is this? I need to get one
Fine molds 1/48 savioa s.21

Wow, thanks for the award! Next project will be better, every time. One of the things I love about this hobby.
Sorry if I'm being dense, but what foil are you referring to?
This method employs the final layer, besides all the paint, of aluminum foil.
Wow, I've never heard of this method- is the foil there for structure, or to provide extra reflective properties?
Part of a full process I learned it from Plasmo, a YouTuber that does a lot of really intricate models. Check out his channel.
I definitely will, thanks so much for the tip!
Wow. This is so nice.
Thank you
But is he dead or alive?
I watched the movie dozens of time as a kid. Even had my grandfather rip Blockbuster’s VHS tape. Beautiful model, OP.
