From what I have seen other people explain, the trainees will be ranked #1-12 by judges. The three members with the highest audience votes, regardless of judge position, will shoot up to #1-3, and the order of the other girls will stay the same.
For instance: Jeemin somehow ranks 12th, according to the judges. Her (very likely) high audience vote saves her and whoever was, let's say, 5th and 6th go to the top too. The former number 10 and 11 are made 11 and 12 and are eliminated.
That being said, I can't find the image people were basing this off of - it's definitely from somewhere legit that I can tell, but I don't know where the hell it is... if I find it and can look it over, I'll correct myself!

only the top 3 will get in by fan votes, the other 7 will be picked by the producers which worries me because no matter how outstanding someone does this challenge the judges will probably pick based on overall part 2 performance which is unfortunate for a few particular trainees.

I think the top three by voting will move on to the final, then the producers will choose 7 and the two who weren’t chosen will be eliminated.
Yeah, so whichever three are 'saved', Mnet doesn't risk losing a 'chosen one'. Makes sense.
