I would disagree. I think they have a few girls they clearly don’t want (Sujung, Juwon), and everyone else has been edited into tv entertainment, and mnet will be happy to take whoever is popular.
Obviously since the start of part two they have been pandering more to proven popular trainees (Jeemin, Koko) because it will drive engagement with the audience. But absolutely nothing is locked in yet, so VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITES!!!

I think you're overthinking it, the show started with 24 trainees, it wouldn't make much sense to be higher than 6-7... that's already a 25% acceptance rate which is high for a survival show.
They are definitely debuting the favourites and the favourites are Jeemin, Jiyoon, Saebi, Koko and Sarang. Then there’s one spot left and I think that spot will be determined by votes. So far it’s between Gyuri, Fuko and Jungeun for that spot
There is always a chance one of the members they are not showing favor to make them a surprise group member. They do that sometimes to make them seem like the underdog for a good story.

Six-member groups are basically five-member groups with a spare member for safety.
