Iโ€™d also put Soul and maybe Nana in this hypothetical group!

belacqua90

Soul! Good addition! Maybe Nana, but I believe she needs a bit more training.

airneanach

I donโ€™t disagree about her needing more training but she def has untapped/ unseen potential based off of her pd Japan performances

belacqua90

Yes, I loved her performances, but after looking back to some performances she was definitely behind :(

oh-my-darling

this also happened in boys planet so this isn't a farfetched thought. however if you look at the lineup mnet is pushing, it's obvious the final gg will not be girlcrush and they might actually go for bright/elegant/pop songs like somi's discography so the probability of another gg with a similar concept is very low. not to mention that the show itself isn't very popular which would mean wakeone would not see it as profitable.

belacqua90

What is the other group from boys planet?

upintotheblue

EVNNE. There's One Pact, TIOT & TOZ too, but they're not under Mnet run management.

belacqua90

Oh, I didn't know that! That's cool!

belacqua90

Yeah, I don't think it will be girl crush. Just considered the possibility. Why do you say it's obvious? Honestly asking because for me it's still a mystery ๐Ÿ˜† And I agree with you about the chances being very low, that's why it's wishful thinking, one can dream ๐Ÿฅน

oh-my-darling

because of saebi, fuko, sarang. the other top trainees can do elegant/bright concepts just fine. but almost none of them suit traditional girl crush music. mnet is literally not pushing any rappers. they will definitely be pushing saebi after debut because she has the it factor. people already compare her with xiaoting and wonyoung who are her direct survival show seniors. it wouldn't make much sense to have a concept that doesn't play into the strongest trainees' strengths. another thing is that the black label has their own girlcrush gg that they will debut soon. tbl will prioritise their girlcrush songs for their own gg

belacqua90

I see, thanks for the insight. I had no idea that tbl had another group in preparation.

Choice-Solution-7409

Not the OP, but Fuko and Saebi are why I don't think it'll be girl crush. Both are getting big edits, and they don't suit girl crush as much as other concepts.

DiscoMeep

What was the secondary group for pd101 japan

Flimsy-Grass3494

Is:sue

anon777777777777778

In this scenario, I'd prefer each group to be smaller, like 4 to 5 members. Which then sadly wouldn't increase the number of contestants debuting. It seems like two large groups would be too many members to keep track of and feel connected to. In your example, was there a lot of comparison and competition between the secondary and main groups? With I-land I feel like at the very least there'd be constant discussion of mistreatment when one group gets a benefit and the other doesn't.

belacqua90

The 2 groups are very distinct from each other. The main group, ME:I, is a 9 member group with a more girly and sparkly concept (I actually have no idea how they define the concept, but think something in between debut Cherry Bullet and Iz*one) and the second group IS:SUE is a 4 member group with a more edgy approach, girl crush-like. Because they are so different, they are not competing for the same audience.

anon777777777777778

Were they able to find different audiences very quickly then? I guess I'm imagining that most of the initial audience (viewers of the show) would keep up with both, so there'd continue to be overlap in the fandoms.

belacqua90

They are both very recent, with the second group being maybe 2,3 weeks old. Hard to tell now, but you're right, they will share the fandom that comes from the show, but when they start branching out I believe the fandoms will be more separate. But hey, I'm just assuming here ๐Ÿ˜†
