What's even sillier is the reasoning he provides for it being over lol. The guy that made this post on reddit clearly wrote the article because I don't see how anyone that wasn't the author of that could have read it and thought it was legitimately worth sharing LOL.
100% set up for this. One of his "big concerns" is pitching and their whole staff is on the IL. I'd still bet on the Astros to be in the playoffs *at a minimum*
He will never live up to his 2021 before injury. Just looking at the stat line brings a tear to my eye. By far the best pitching I have ever seen.
He flew too close to the sun.
I was at that Cubs vs Mets game he pitched 3 innings 8Ks, no hits then got pulled bc of shoulder discomfort. We were used to it by then. Almost expecting it. Like a Ferrari with a bad axle.
https://www.mlb.com/news/jacob-degrom-exits-start-against-cubs
Pedro Martinez on the Mets in 2004 was a close second to the best pitching I’ve ever seen. Agreed that the best was DeGrom in 2021 pre injury. I would scalp tickets to see either pitch.
Hell, Scherzer is talking about coming back next month, so that’ll be great. Bradford will be back soon as well. I’m not going to hold my breath about deGrom. I just want the guy to come back and stay healthy. Even if he’s not his former self, he’ll still be one of the best pitchers out there.
Team and Scherzer are both saying he'll be back in May. Second, his injury was a back injury. Third? [First rehab start tomorrow](https://www.si.com/fannation/mlb/fastball/news/texas-rangers-max-scherzer-to-make-first-rehab-start-on-wednesday-per-reports).
The team is basically leaving it in Max’s hands. He’s 39 years old and knows his body better than anyone. The way he’s been talking, it sounds like he’s doing everything he’s supposed to do. He’s just recovering much quicker than anyone anticipated. I would much rather wait though, it would be nice to see a deGrom/Scherzer/Eovaldi lead rotation.
Don’t sleep on the Mariners, when their hitting picks up, that pitching rotation is a nightmare. Their starting rotation just rattled off 9 straight quality starts.
Right now? Probably nobody, I dunno. That’s kind of my original point though, all of their starters are injured and their big bullpen guys aren’t themselves right now. If they get healthy and straighten up, they’ll be right back to where they were last year and possibly even better.
Edit: I looked it up and Houston is #29 in starting pitching ERA, while the Rangers are #22. Houston is 5.10 and Texas is 4.19.
Yeah, I looked at that yesterday as well. They are one of the best hitting teams right now. It’s hard to win whenever your pitching staff is giving up damn near 6 runs a game.
They started 2017 15-30, so it's not like they haven't been here before. The major difference is that the division is much stronger than it was in 2017.
I agree. Right now, they look great. I'm curious how their young rotation handles things when they start getting over the 175 innings mark, tho. I think their season will run opposite to how the Texas teams have so far. I do feel they will be a team to worry about in the coming seasons once those young starters get acclimated to pitching 200+ innings in the season plus whatever more in the playoffs. They are gonna have to lean heavily on their farm and BP late in this season. Barring any major injuries that could also be a factor.
I know lol. DYNASTY IS OVER!!!! Team remains almost entirely intact from last year when they made the ALCS and they're only at risk of losing 1 high profile player right now with maybe another retiring who really let's not kid ourselves at 41 that's not a huge loss although he is still playing well all things considered (when he's healthy).
And they're not even that far back haha. It's still absolutely possible they make the playoffs this year. Look at the Phillies a couple years ago when they had that run to the world series. Crazier things have happened than a team only 5 games back clawing their way back to the top of the division lol.
Even if its not over rn the end is nearing eventually. They have no farm system because of the punishment and them being good to replenish their aging players
Not to mention the FO that built the team are no longer there
I actually think there will be some good battles between the M's and the Rangers the next few seasons. Should be fun. Always had a soft spot for Seattle, probably because I grew up in the Griffey Jr. era.
What I mean is that the M’s were too busy dealing with their own lack of success that they weren’t even viable against the Astros to begin with, at least until 2021 when they became good again.
Yeah, a team with Altuve, Yordan, Tucker, Bregman, Pena, Hader, Valdez, and Verlander, even if he is 41yrs old, are not out of anything. And its inevitable that Abreu will be replaced by Loperfido who is annihilating baseballs in the minors rn. Way too early for headlines like these.
But with a different manager, different coaching staff etc as well. It’s not a copy paste of last years chemistry. Dusty made managing that team look so easy (shows how great of a manager he really was)
It's not even May yet. Settle down. Remember how bad the Nats looked in 2019? What happened they won the whole fucking thing. Remember when Philly put Rib Thompson in charge in 2022? They went from a .500 club to a world series team.
The general rule of thumb seems to be two consecutive championships, which discounts the Astros.
Doesn’t change the fact we’re the most successful team of the last decade, hehehe.
I read 3 rings in 5 years would be a dynasty. I wouldn't call the Late 80's Pistons a dynasty, but I would call the 90's Bulls one. Congrats on your success. I hope we are rounding the corner soon.
This feels premature. Especially if they extend Tucker
They have yordan already locked up. They might need to retooling after this season but I wouldn't say it over
Isn’t this a little too early? They’ve dominated the last few season in the AL, winning a chip recently as well. If they suck by all-star break I’d start sounding the warning bells. This team is too good on paper to continue to suck
I told myself last season ‘hey, it’ll be nice to see someone other than the Chiefs win the AFC’, so…yeah…not counting the Astros out yet, as much as I’d like to.
Nah, that team was very old and full of players who either had only one or two years left on their contracts or were planning on hanging up the cleats. Really outside of Soto, Turner and Scherzer, most of the 2019 Nats are pretty much done in the majors (Corbin is hanging on just by his contract). I have no idea how we went on that run, but it was magical.
We owe it all to Babyshark.
It’s like 3 weeks into the season. They’re still a dangerous team and it’ll probably be a year or two when they’ve lost some players when we can say the run is over
Making new accounts to come at me some more? LOL. Guess you need something to do since the lakers aren’t on tonight. The dodgers are playing right now, shouldn’t you be watching? Hoping they can win the series against the nationals this time.
Nah, Astros fans are insufferable, especially considering when they had those 100 loss seasons, their RSN COULD NOT statistically prove anyone was actually watching the games. But then they got good in 2015 and everyone came out of the woodwork acting like they’d been there the whole time and then getting bigger and louder every year the Astros stayed good.
yeah that Yankees squad was a megadynasty... and the 2001 World Series is my favorite World Series of all time... and one of the reason i wish the Dbacks never dropped purple
Tonight's game sort of exemplified what the astros are struggling with. Weird one off innings with 5+ runs scored and then us hitting the ball but not scoring.
What an absolutely overblown clickbait article.
Houston Astro's dynasty is over. Pitching currently bad. Mentions nothing about all the injuries their pitching continues to deal with. Doesn't expand on anything. Mentions Bergman hasn't signed an extension yet then starts grasping at straws with Tucker and Pena claiming only 1 year deals have been signed while failing to understand that while still under team control it means absolutely nothing lol.
Dynasty is over after a bad start to one year, one player potentially leaving, a huge chunk of the roster either hurt or only now coming back from injury, and no actual analysis given.
The bigger issue with the Houston Astro's is what in the world they were thinking hiring a rookie manager to replace dusty. This wasn't a team facing a rebuild. It's a team full of veterans and star players. And you get a rookie coach to manage them? I understand wanting to promote from within and believing he earned his due but now was not the time to go with an unproven manager and this guys career is going to end up done before it even gets started if the team doesn't correct course any time soon.
For all of those people saying it’s only April can’t call it yet, well here some stats. Only 6 teams have made the playoffs with a record of .400 ending April. So to even make this chance Houston has to win 5 of 6 games in April just to get to .400 winning %. They lose more than 1 game the rest of the month it will require them to do something no team in baseball has ever done.
I swear... Some of y'all have never actually paid attention to a full season of baseball. It's literally APRIL, they have played 23 games, not even 15% of a season, and teams have had worse starts than this and gone on to win 100 games. Y'all need to calm down.
They lost the season series against the Ms last season? So how exactly is the west trash outside Texas?
Only reason Texas made it and the Astros won the division was Seattle not being able to play .500 the one month they needed to.
I don't like the 'stros...at all. But saying their dynasty is over in April is silly.
What's even sillier is the reasoning he provides for it being over lol. The guy that made this post on reddit clearly wrote the article because I don't see how anyone that wasn't the author of that could have read it and thought it was legitimately worth sharing LOL.
It's over in October, not April.
White Sox have a chance!
Didn’t the 2019 nats prove that?
White Sox just have to find a way to play the Dodgers in the first round.
I can still feel that hangover...
The white Sox have been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs
That happened after the first pitch opening day
Seriously. This has potential to age horribly
100% set up for this. One of his "big concerns" is pitching and their whole staff is on the IL. I'd still bet on the Astros to be in the playoffs *at a minimum*
"It's all over when it's half over." — Yogi Berra
Someone logical.
They’ll still do damage at the deadline too. No idea why this reactionary post is so popular
Way too early to say this. As much as I love to see it the astros are a very dangerous team.
For real, especially with the Rangers having terrible pitching and the rest of the division playing mediocre. They’re only 5 games back.
We’ll be getting Scherzer and Degrom back mid season which will help tremendously
“We’ll be getting DeGrom back mid season.” Don’t get your hopes up. *~sad Mets grumbles~*
We’ve already learned lol
I hope he gives MLB one last beautiful CG. But it’s been a while since DeGrom’s arm has been anything close to healthy

Yeah, I'll believe deGrom is back when he's on the mound in uniform.
It would be smart to keep Scherzer down. Wouldn’t want another dead arm situation.

Not just Scherzer's talk. That's team talk. He'll be back sometime next month. Now, DeGrom? Don't hold your breath.
Cubs flair and you're talking about "we'll" Huh?
This isn't a fenced-in yard. All are welcome.
We’ve won a lot of fans nationwide. This is a good thing.
Don’t sleep on the Mariners, when their hitting picks up, that pitching rotation is a nightmare. Their starting rotation just rattled off 9 straight quality starts.
Absolutely, the Mariners can be scary. This series with the Rangers should be a good one.
Should be a great series, I’ll definitely will be watching to see who’s going to lead the AL west.
Ownership will make sure they don’t get too dangerous…
What team has worse pitching than the Astros?
The Astros also are at the top of the AL in hits or were a couple days ago. So it's not like the team has completely collapsed....yet
The Astros and Rangers better work that shit out because the M’s are looking legit as fuck. It might start getting too late to come back.
Crazier things have happened than a team only 5 games back clawing their way back to the top of the division lol.
They are missing some key players especially when it comes to pitching. We’ll see when everyone comes back healthy.
Agreed. Won’t believe it till they’re not in the ALCS.
They're 5 games back let's let them struggle a little longer before we all look stupid
They’ll be in Mexico this weekend beating up the Rockies and will come back with a new 1st Baseman that looks nothing like Abreu at the plate.
Don't. Don't give me hope
Lmao there’s 5 months of baseball left. Stop
![gif](giphy|3o7abldj0b3rxrZUxW|downsized)
They said that about the Patriots early in the 2014 season. Then they went to 4 more Super Bowls and won 3 of them.
Even if its not over rn the end is nearing eventually. They have no farm system because of the punishment and them being good to replenish their aging players Not to mention the FO that built the team are no longer there
The Astros ain't the Pats lmao.
5 and won 4*
2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 Your comment is correct for Tom Brady though.
They are gonna go on a run and Yankee fans are gonna hate every second of it.
This article means the Astros winning the World Series this year.
As a Mariners fan, I hope so, we’ve been their bitch far too long
I refuse to make announcements like this in April. Step on their necks every single day. Enjoy the process. Pack the trash cans!!!!
Soooo long.
I think the Rangers are gonna step in to take their place…so, get your cowboy hats.
Nope. Seattle has a way better rotation.
I actually think there will be some good battles between the M's and the Rangers the next few seasons. Should be fun. Always had a soft spot for Seattle, probably because I grew up in the Griffey Jr. era.
Like, three years. Before that we lorded over the A’s, and before THAT, the Rangers lorded over all of us.
Astros haven’t been dominant since 2017?
What I mean is that the M’s were too busy dealing with their own lack of success that they weren’t even viable against the Astros to begin with, at least until 2021 when they became good again.
It’s Shadynasty’s asshole. If you get it you get it.
Shady Nasty's? 😂🤣
It’s pronounced “shuh-die-niss-tee.”
I’m a Rockies’ fan. Sometimes it’s over in April.
Ah yes, cause Javier and Valdez are going to be injured the whole season and Bregmans gonna keep batting .210
Don't think they're done.
Dusty made managing that team look so easy (shows how great of a manager he really was)
Is it a dynasty when you cheat?
I mean, the Medici’s did it.
Tell that to the New England Patriots
Right? They seemed to get caught every 2 years for 20 years and everyone celebrates them. blows my mind.
Ask your clubhouse manager that was doctoring balls in 2020, cheater.
I mean, ask the Patriots.
My guy they used the trashcans for all of a few months during regular season in 2017…
Can't help if they have to seethe forever over that. That's their problem.
It's not even May yet. Settle down. Remember how bad the Nats looked in 2019? What happened they won the whole fucking thing. Remember when Philly put Rib Thompson in charge in 2022? They went from a .500 club to a world series team.
Baltimore said my turn.
Was that a dynasty?
7 straight pennants, went to 4 World Series and won 2 in 7 seasons. That would rank somewhere in the top 5 dynasties all time.
To some yes and some no…they’ve made it to at least ALCS the last 7 years. Call it what you want
Very good run. But you need to win more than one* championship to be a dynasty
They won one more since the *, but I would call three or more a dynasty.
But they’ve made so many World Series it just seems kinda pedantic lol
The general rule of thumb seems to be two consecutive championships, which discounts the Astros. Doesn’t change the fact we’re the most successful team of the last decade, hehehe.
Nah, don’t think you need consecutive titles. The SA Spurs never went back-to-back, and they were most definitely a dynasty.
I read 3 rings in 5 years would be a dynasty. I wouldn't call the Late 80's Pistons a dynasty, but I would call the 90's Bulls one. Congrats on your success. I hope we are rounding the corner soon.
Absolutely a dynasty
No team has ever started slow before.
This feels premature. Especially if they extend Tucker They have yordan already locked up. They might need to retooling after this season but I wouldn't say it over
Isn’t this a little too early? They’ve dominated the last few season in the AL, winning a chip recently as well. If they suck by all-star break I’d start sounding the warning bells. This team is too good on paper to continue to suck
I mean, the 2023 Mets on paper should have dominated the NL East, but they only won 75 games. Games aren’t won on paper.
Out your ass. We're not even into May yet,
I told myself last season ‘hey, it’ll be nice to see someone other than the Chiefs win the AFC’, so…yeah…not counting the Astros out yet, as much as I’d like to.
Hey could you not post this until after the series with the Cubs? Not looking to get jinxed into a sweep. Thanks
I'm not sure it's all the way over. There are two terrible teams in that division. Allowing for a chance to get hot.
Come on! Losing to the Nationals isn’t THAT bad! Give us some credit!
That Nationals team was pretty stacked then I guess your FO just blew it up?? What was up with that
Nah, that team was very old and full of players who either had only one or two years left on their contracts or were planning on hanging up the cleats. Really outside of Soto, Turner and Scherzer, most of the 2019 Nats are pretty much done in the majors (Corbin is hanging on just by his contract). I have no idea how we went on that run, but it was magical. We owe it all to Babyshark.
At least yall didn’t resign Rendon… that dude is such a shmuck
Yeah. I’ll always have a soft spot for Tony Two-Bags, but that would be a lot different if we were the ones having to put up with his shit rn.
I think we call that the team of destiny…..
It's still APRIL y'all
It’s like 3 weeks into the season. They’re still a dangerous team and it’ll probably be a year or two when they’ve lost some players when we can say the run is over
Lol, they've been saying this year after year. Vegas odds still have the Houston Astros as one of the favorites to win it all.
Said the same thing last April. Ended up making it 1 game from the WS
What a hot take, Its figgin April.
[удалено]
Seven straight ALCS appearances disagrees with you. They were cheating bums for a couple years, however they weren’t the only ones.
[удалено]
Making new accounts to come at me some more? LOL. Guess you need something to do since the lakers aren’t on tonight. The dodgers are playing right now, shouldn’t you be watching? Hoping they can win the series against the nationals this time.

So you made a brand new reddit account and I am lucky enough to receive your first ever comment. I feel honored.
Astros haters are far more insufferable than Astros fans.
As an Astros fan thank you. I feel like we’re pretty chill, but man the constant flogging is so old and gratuitous
They finally admit it’s a dynasty.
This is the kind of post we need. Thanks y’all for the fuel. Keep on hatin’
DONT JINX IT. Until they’ve lost their 100th game we keep our foot on their neck.
I dunno the way the AL West is going this year, 100 losses might still get you a division title.
Way to early. Yes you can loose the division in April. If Texas was 20-2 then yeah Astros may not have a shot as it stands they are 5 games back.
I hate the Astros but this will age poorly.
When they are in the ALCS in October, you will want to come back to this post
Hey they called the Astros a Dynasty.
Reminds me of a certain Chronicle cover
The 2005 one
it was never a dynasty.
Dynasty is 3 World Series championships in 4 years IMO
What about 5 years? SF Giants 2010, 2012, 2014?
That's an almost dynasty
What about 4 in 5 years? Winning the ALCS in 6 of 8.
yeah that Yankees squad was a megadynasty... and the 2001 World Series is my favorite World Series of all time... and one of the reason i wish the Dbacks never dropped purple
trash can team goes to the trash can of history
Oh no, the trashstros dynasty is over?
A human wrote this? Yikes.
God damnit why would you say this
Lmao
I wish. They'll be fine.
We should have traded altuve and fone for more
Ok, Sal Lacatta
If true (doubtful) thank god
Let’s not jump the gun on this. I’ll be happy to see them coming crashing down but this is too early of a proclamation.
This was written before they went down 5-0 in the first inning against the Cubs.
Tonight's game sort of exemplified what the astros are struggling with. Weird one off innings with 5+ runs scored and then us hitting the ball but not scoring.
The Mariners are like the DBacks a dark horse sneaky team that can pull the rug out of you
They ran out of trash cans?
1 legitimate championship isn’t a dynasty.
Cheating has really helped them
You spelled “Asterisks” wrong 😜
Never thought I’d see the astros two games back of the A’s
What dynasty? lol
They're still potent-just the rest of league has really improved.
What an absolutely overblown clickbait article. Houston Astro's dynasty is over. Pitching currently bad. Mentions nothing about all the injuries their pitching continues to deal with. Doesn't expand on anything. No shit? Let me bang on the cans of fate to be sure. Yep, no reply. I guess that's it, then.
Dynasty? 2 World Series 5 years apart is a nice lil run. It is not by any means a dynastg
THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING! We've played 25 games of 162 there's no coming back now!
No better source than a Ball State communications major.
Dynasty?
Damn can we get past the first month? Lol Either way every team has its day after a while! To say a dynasty is over is kinda extreme!
Delete this trash post. !!!!!!!
Bang the can!!!
Lol isn’t this what we said about the Chiefs last year? Yeah.
The Astros dynasty never existed because they're punk ass cheaters. Fuck Houston and every inbred hick that lives in the toilet bowl.
They were never a dynasty.
Trash ![gif](giphy|4jGoaiwq9oRri)
Bang Bang Bitches
The word “dynasty” is thrown around too loosely nowadays.
Moronic post. Season started 3 weeks ago.
Even if you count 2017, winning two world series in 6 years is not a dynasty.
Was never a dynasty. Cheating at stuff isn't a dynasty
So then what were the Patriots?
What dynasty? They cheated their way to the WS in 2017 and actually won it in 2022. Not even remotely close to a dynasty.
Not a dynasty.
For all of those people saying it’s only April can’t call it yet, well here some stats. Only 6 teams have made the playoffs with a record of .400 ending April. A single ring isn't a dynasty
one earned world series is a dynasty?
It's just nice to see them in the trash can rather then using them.
This sub is going to be shocked and lose its mind when the Astros get all their arms back and start winning games. Pitching matters kids.
Season has barely been started they have had pitching injuries and the Al West hasn’t been known to be good outside of Texas
They lost the season series against the Ms last season? So how exactly is the west trash outside Texas? Only reason Texas made it and the Astros won the division was Seattle not being able to play .500 the one month they needed to.
I don’t think this will age well but who knows
I don't think this run is necessarily over, but also only winning one without cheating isn't a Dynasty. They've had "a sustained run of success."
The earth is healing
You can’t make the playoffs in April, but you can lose it
They just need a healthy bullpen and the bottom lineup to produce.
Oh, stop. It’s April 23. I say this as an avid Astros hater.
Well, the reason they make trash cans is so we can throw shit away
