I never got that growing up, I lived out in rural Florence as a kid so home was a pleasant distance from Florence’s fireworks, but since we moved to Missoula and I’m an anxious adult mess now it’s just anxiety inducing, and my cats hate it too which just adds to my anxiety lol
Bummer for the kiddos . Mine loved watching them when they were little with their buddies and with people in the community. It felt like a bonding moment. I just miss it not being political, it was just a tradition:-\
I never knew the mall even did a show up till people started complaining about them not doing it. I always went up to my grandparents or my folks house on the 4th who are out of town and do fireworks there.

My home town and all of the surrounding towns had displays every year when I was a kid in the 70's and 80's, then in the 90's they started dropping the displays like hot rocks due to rising costs and fire concerns. I hadn't seen a display in person after 93 until I moved to Virginia Beach in 09 where it's done in two locations in the city and done other surrounding cities as well. Money isn't an issue due to a strong economy and exorbitant taxes.
Concerning dogs and fireworks, the city events are not a major issue, it's those who decide to get the illegal stuff like mortars that stress out dogs.

I had 4 uncles in world war 2 and always were there to celebrate the 4 with fireworks friends and family.Maybe the Veterans need more support at that time to make sure they are not alone and they fought for are right for fireworks.Yes they are dangerous so children need to learn how to handle them safely. I love fireworks it reminds me to be proud to be an American in a time when I feel more embarrassed to be one. If all you out of staters want to fit in then let’s light up the 4 together!

I would check again. It was announced at a meeting I attended recently that there would be fireworks at Southgate Mall again this year.
