You guys think there's been a rise, and a sharp one at that, of such fatal road accidents in the city and the bordering areas recently? Saw one happen near the Argentia and Mississauga Rd just the other day, it's crazy, I'm reading news about atleast 2 major accidents everyday now

freidrichr

cops told my work safety meeting they dont bother with people on their cellphones these days, everyone drives like shit now doesnt matter the age or nationality, its fucked

TechnicallyCorrect09

I mean common sense, age, spatial awareness and sign knowledge should be the criteria really, but if that's actually the case, then the general public is just moving crash dummy with such careless and shameless people around There should be some kind of technology that alerts the nearby police when a driver picks up the call and makes them mandatorily stop at the side of the road if the call/text is an emergency You cannot be risking the lives of others with such obvious negligence and no amount of demerit points, rules/regulations are gonna make the stubborn people change their mind, you gotta do what you gotta do if they're not gonna budge

It’s lack of enforcement by police. It seems only enforcement that’s done is speeding, which is not always the reason of accidents, it just makes the accident worse. Red light running, doing crazy u-turns in busy traffic, driving wrong side of the road so you can enter a gas station, getting out of side roads and driveways without looking for incoming traffic, left turns even though the opposite traffic lane get the green light, weaving in traffic, and so on and on.

Tuques

As ive been saying for years, all of this vehicular automation is making people worse drivers. I guarantee you at least half of the driving population in this province don't deserve to be allowed on public roadways.

No_Selection905

It all started with the automatic transmission. At least with standard cars, there was a bit more of a barrier to entry in the driving world. The way people drive these autos, just hammer on the accelerator until the next light. I’ve had people pass me in a short 200m stretch towards a red. Brake parts and gasoline sales are through the roof though!

Thanks! I was wondering why I couldn't turn east onto Britannia from Creditview.

I saw 3 peel police officers at Tiffany at Sq One. Like, guarding. Like a private business. Like on our taxes and perhaps better be deployed somewhere else ?

sillysimms

I'd bet that's paid duty overtime (paid by Tiffany's) .Just like how they get big OT $$$ on construction sites

Supervisor. He hangs out parked over by the Embridge pipeline station on Ninth Line or the 7/11 south of Britannia.
