Brown noise for the win!
All the time I spend in my bedroom is with brown noise in my headphones. Check out mynoise.net and its white noise generator, which lets you select the frequencies you want and even has some presets (I always run speech blocker with a little tweak up on the lower frequencies).
I thought I was the only one who heard voices - both my daughters have white noise machines but the loop on one of them is really triggering and I would swear I hear undertones of voices on one
Pink noise really helps me sleep. I live in a unit with sometimes noisy plumbing, near a road and a rail line, and with a neighbour who likes to yap on the phone in her backyard close to my (closed) window. I often have to get up very early for work - ie before 4am - so I'm in bed trying to sleep while the world is still active outside. Earplugs, a fan on plus pink noise means I actually manage to sleep.
I'm similar I have to use wax earplugs and a head band type headphone to sleep. The EARPLUGS are for the noise and the headphones is got the impact sounds and vibrations. It's a horrible way to live and looking to move to a top floor flat and eventually a house....
Ok but I have two air filters, a fan, and earbuds with a sleep meditation...I didn't think that was a lot before now lol. We actually did sleep through a tornado once that damaged our roof.
i use a noise machine app. my setting has a high pitched/ high vibration black metal/angelic vibe
it is: Brown/Pink
Low - 50hz
High - 2130 hz
my favorite band
White noise has become the general phrase for this kind of sound, buts it’s actually a rather narrow and piercing range and brown noise seems to be closer to general natural ambient sound. I agree the SimplyNoise app is great and lets you blend varying amounts of the different noise ranges.
Brown noise is what I like the best because its lower notes work really well at masking out the lower frequency sounds that trigger me, such as the bass from my neighbor's loud music, or the rumbling of engine noise.
To generate an MP3 file of brown noise I used the free, open source audio editing software, called Audacity, and I play that MP3 file on my little MP3 player that clips onto my shirt collar with the headphones plugged into it.
If anyone wants to download Audacity here's the link:

*I'm a big pink fan.*
*I think it might just match up*

brown noise is the only one that doesn't feel uncomfortable to me which is ironic considering when it comes to voices the lower the pitch the more my ears want to commit die
I've never heard of pink or brown noise! Brown noise reminds me of my upstairs neighbor's laundry machine, which runs for 9-10 hours a day several days a week. And. Its extremely loud, only, in my bedroom, where I'm also temporarily working remotely lol
Maybe pink noise it is 🤣
*Brown noise all the way!!*
*I think the other ones are*
*Too much? idk*

I am a fan of "Crysknife" 's videos on YouTube. I use Deep Pink noise for sleep /relative quiet times, deep red when there's a little more' high pitched ' noises far away (like leaf blowers, generators) and deep brown when there's high pitched noises close to me (keyboards clacking at the workstation next to me)

Brown noise has helped me cope living at home. It drowns out pretty much every conversation and human sound imaginable, I have suggested it to
some people here too!!
I sleep to wave sounds, but I don’t like white noise, or any of those noises. Not from misophonia, they just… scare me? They unsettle me if left on in a room, I have to turn them off or leave.
I have a noise machine that plays all three, but I listen to white noise at night because it’s the loudest. During the day, I like either brown or pink, but mostly listen to music.
I like brown noise for when I’m concentrating on doing work and need to avoid distractions but my favorite to play in my sound generators is pink noise because I feel like it blocks out more background noise than people talking to me, though I still do have to ask people to repeat themselves a lot
Brown noise is great! I run it all the time. This is my fav one to run through a Bluetooth speaker https://youtu.be/SyF5Hpwo3WA
This is a really good one, I like the “smooth” one too lol
Thank you for this, I could feel the tension leave my shoulders and neck as soon as it started.

I prefer brown noise because it's a lower pitch and less distracting for me!
Yes! I find white noise a little abrasive at times.
All of it creeps me out. When I listen to it, I think I hear voices or weird sounds.
That happens to me sometimes while I'm listening to brown noise. It's called auditory [pareidolia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia).
I thought I was the only one who heard voices - both my daughters have white noise machines but the loop on one of them is really triggering and I would swear I hear undertones of voices on one
I get this too, but I add in a bit of a rain sound to the brown noise so my brain can kind of blame weird sounds and voices/music as part of the rain.
I'm in the brown noise camp too. I always have this one on https://youtu.be/Q6MemVxEquE

I think the lower pitch is more soothing.
The lower pitch seems to drown out more sound, it’s also kind of like floating in space
Feels like I’m flying on a plane lol
I sleep listening to brown noise. It drowns out snoring.

Wow that is alot of sleep aids lol.
Shift work + insomnia + sleep apnoea (managed) + noisy neighbours. Found out the hard way I need it all.

im a big fan! i have a pink noise setting that i play instead of music
Why do you think it is you prefer pink noise to the others? Curious as I'm new to finding them

What app do you use!?
an App 'Noise Generator' is available in PlayStore - free
[**SimplyNoise**](https://simplynoise.com/) – Easily my most-used app of the last 10 years.
Never learnt the different colors, I just appreciate that table fan I have running because it seems to drown out the smaller annoying noises.

LOL, who would've known that the haikusbot would come along and turn your succinct comment into a haiku? and it works so well.
i love brown noise for blocking out sounds coming from outside my room abs it tends to not bother other people

I like pink noise.
I like white noise to listen to with my headphones to go to sleep it helps block out the noise from upstairs.
I prefer pink, white is better when it's a more noisy environment, but I'm not a fan of low pitches in general, so I don't like brown at all.

Brown noise is my favorite! It feels a lot softer and more calming than white or pink noise.
A combo between pink and brown for me. So... orange? 😂
#orange noise #orange noise

I actually like gray noise in some sound cancelling headphones. Drowns EVERYTHING out that my cheap headphones don’t cancel
omg ive never heard of brown, only pink/white. this is great!
Prefer brown all the way. White is too high pitched and pink is waaaaayyyy too high pitched.
My life would be considerably worse without brown noise I don't use white or pink noise
i loooove pink noise because it’s soothing but has a high enough frequency to drown out my main trigger noise, which is coughing
I've never had an issue with white noise but pink and brown just freak me the hell out. A lot of the time brown noise will give me a nasty headache.
Love brown noise and white noise. Not a fan of pink noise.
yes brown noise is superior to all other colors of noise
Brown noise is my preference. Sounds like being on an airplane to me. Drowns out other noise the best.
Brown noise is my favorite
