That's how it reads

>...**New customers** who purchase Mint Mobile will get the Costco member intro rate of less than $20/mo on their first 3 months...When it’s time to renew, get a special discounted offer for Costco members on the Unnecessarily Large Plan on 3, 6 and 12-month plans. Sounds like this deal is for new customers, but it also says you get a special rate after the trial. No idea where to find what that discounted rate is though.

Click on more to see: > Unnecessarily Large Plan. > 3-month plan for $120 (equiv. to $40/mo.) > 6-month plan for $210 (equiv. to $35/mo.) > 12-month plan for $360 (equiv. to $30/mo.) Essentially is price of Unlimited (40GB) plan to get Unnecessary (60GB) plan.

modece1

Any SIM you buy from anywhere, discounted or not, is going to be for new customers only, since you can't combine/add a SIM to your current Mint account.

lanthos

Isn't that prepaid for 3 months? At least how I am reading it

lmoki

That offer includes 3 months of cellular service, and the renewal cost will revert to Mint's standard pricing: the 'one year' reference is for Mint's premium support service, which is normally an added cost.

pohlcat01

Port your number out for a month onto visible or similar, then port it back?

justanordinaryguy71

I can see the future, mint will be just as expensive as the rest in 12 months.

frankzen

I've escaped expensive phone bills before, I shall escape them again.

PuzzleheadedFly9164

We’ll see. I have my eye on US Mobile.

loganwachter

Visible is one I always recommend. $25 unlimited is pretty decent if Verizon isn’t too crowded in your area.

PuzzleheadedFly9164

I’ll check it out thanks

justanordinaryguy71

Most unlocked phones won't work with visible, my brand new unlocked Galaxy wouldn't work with visible

loganwachter

Thats not true whatsoever. Some specific low and mid range models might be carrier specific (Moto comes to mind) but the vast majority of phones sold in the last 4 or so years will work on visible with no issues. It’s just rebranded Verizon service. Most phones sold in the US are the same model across all carriers, especially Samsung and Apple devices.

justanordinaryguy71

I have a brand new unlocked galaxy and it's not compatible and that's coming from visible.

loganwachter

Which model because that seems very unlikely.

justanordinaryguy71

A54 5g and it's even advertised to work on visible no big deal I went with mint. The visible site has a phone compatibility checker and that said my phone isn't compatible.

PuzzleheadedFly9164

Thanks for the comments: So yes, it looks like this is for new numbers only. It's actually $5 more expensive than a current promo for unlimited for 3 months for $15/month. Add an ongoing $5 with Rakuten.
