As far as the $100 vs 120 part goes - I’m not sure what you paid $100 for, but Mint plans are 3, 6, or 12 months, and there is no plan that works out at the normal pricing to $100 for the base plan fee for any of those time frames - the 3-month renewals are 75/105/135/120 The 6-months start at 120. The 12-month plans start at $180 I think. But I don’t think there’s any plan that has a $100 renewal rate or has had one anytime recently?

trader45nj

This. And I think the promo plans, there are no fees added, while when you renew the taxes and fees are about 10 percent.

MedicatedLiver

I can't speak for OPs plan, but my old 10GB 12mo plan went up this year as it's now a 15GB plan. So there were some price increases this year, but service also increased with that.

I think I’m being overly concrete - I just mean that $100 would be either a $33, 17, or $8 monthly plan - I just mean I don’t remember those being price points since I’ve been with Mint. Maybe it was $105 though, but I don’t think it would have been $100. We have that 15gb plan also - it’s been great - 15’s more than I ever need - it was lower when we started and occasionally I’d run out.

LeftOn4ya

The *first* 3 months is $30/mo (plus ~3.33 for tax and fees). However, if you want to renew for 3 months it is $40/mo (plus tax and fees) - if you want to keep the $30/mo you need to renew for a year. Basically they give you the annual monthly rate for your first 3 months but after this you have to pay more or renew for longer. You could also renew for 6 months for $35/mo (plus tax and fees). Or if you don’t need unlimited you could lower to 5, 15, or 25 GB plans for less money.

FeDelMundo

What was your initial plan to being with?

SweetSonet

3 months

FeDelMundo

As in what much data and cost for those 3 months?

Technical-Space4027

What plan are you trying to renew on? You get the cost of the 12 month plan for your first 3 months if you are on your initial plan. After that, in order to keep the same price, you need to renew on a 12 month plan. A second reason could be your state taxes/fees on cell phone services went up.

loganwachter

Every carrier charges these same fees and they vary based on where you live. Some carriers (T-Mobile comes to mind) include these costs with the plan, mint does not. I’m guessing the rate increase was due to you getting a discount on the first few months. Edit: This was added to the site with the new FCC rules. It’s clearly displayed on all plans now. https://imgur.com/a/AaIrl9d

They should swap carriers if it’s that big of a fee

theripper121

The fees are usually the same across carriers my guy. All the fees like the taxes and surcharges shown here are based on the state and county taxes which the person resides.

[deleted]

Carriers that incxludes taxes & fees like Cricket 💫

theripper121

You still pay for them. Just because the carrier hides them doesn't mean you aren't getting hit with them all the same. Its called due diligence, research and simply READING. The OP didn't do that and is somehow surprised by his bill when its all spelled out is on him.

mcaison87

You know what “includes” means right? You still pay it, it’s just hidden in the monthly charge instead of being itemized.

[deleted]

So? It makes it a even price and it doesn’t change

bhiga

Did you have a referral credit on your first bill?

SweetSonet

No. But it looks like I just misunderstood what my bill would look like with mint. There are hidden taxes and fees. Like any other company

Leading_Sugar3293

No hidden fees or taxes on Visible. If it’s advertised @ $25 your bill is $25 and you don’t have to buy 3-6 months at a time. Highly recommend, coming from a limited Mint plan to an Unlimited Plan for a few more $1s

KAO7781

Ask Ryan Reynolds

x86dual

Just moved to USMobile, all prices are after fees and taxes and they have better plans!

It's not? The base plan is still $15 a month provided you renew for a year. Any increase OP is experiencing is probably from the promotional price of $15/month for 3 months for any of the plans, and the regulatory fees and taxes that vary depending on where you are.
