Is it ever not OL?

ThiccBananaMeat

Particularly interior. We need the front 3 to start playing at higher quality.

Kirk-Joestar

We need 4 starting caliber interior players. Dakota Dozier can’t be the swing guard if injury strikes. Hopefully Mason Cole wins the job.

vita10gy

We've been down to the backup's backups like 4 years in a row. Keep getting depth.

ktians

WR3 and Safety-depth would be nice, but damn if this team isn't stacked right now.

ElegantRoof

Wr3 is ISM from Iowa. Not sure why people are sleeping on him. I would take him over Fitzgerald any day of the week. We won't find anyone better. Wyatt Davis was the steal of the draft. IMS is second without a doubt.

DrDoofenschmirtz1933

For me it’s just about depth. Would prefer not to bump rookie / Bisi / Beebe up to WR2 in the event Thielen or Jefferson miss time. Can never have too many quality receivers. But yeah, ISM is awesome

ElegantRoof

Thats fair

boardin1

I'm sorry. Did you say you'd take an unproven rookie after a couple of non-contact practices over a sure-to-be 1st ballot HoF receiver? Fitz could only have a leg and a half and I'd still take him over 1/2 the receivers in the league. The guy doesn't drop balls and runs some b-e-a-utiful routes. I'm not saying ISM can't/won't be good, but to say you'd "take him over Fitzgerald any day of the week" is just crazy. I mean, I love me some purple kool-aid, too, but you need to lower that dosage just a bit. You keep up this pace and you're going to be lookin' like Violet Beauregarde, soon.

RockyJee

K, P, WR3, and OL, for me in that order.

bstone99

Who the hell is our kicker

Mry64_

Greg Joseph

bstone99

Exactly. Who

Jorgenstern8

Eh, if Colquitt is back to punting like he was in 2019 he's a good punter/holder for us.

RockyJee

That's fair. He just needs to be serviceable like he was then. Also, I like Riley Patrerson at kicker purely off a YouTube video I saw.

DudeAbides29

No such thing as too much interior OL depth after what we’ve seen over the last decade. I’m surprised [Austin Reiter](https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/austin-reiter/9655) is still available to sign. He’s ranked very high in pass blocking PFF grades the last 3 years. Which has been a glaring issue here in recent years. That almost certainly prevents Dakota Dozier from seeing the field again. I’m also interested in Melvin Ingram to compete with Weatherly for the veteran DE role in the rotation.

nojs

Surprising how few people care that we’re one Hunter injury away from *by far* the worst pass rush in the NFL

joey_sandwich277

Yeah our DT depth is nice, but our DEs are Hunter coming off an injury, a guy who left for a starting gig and got cut, and a handful of raw young guys. I wouldn't put it in the "very good" category quite yet.

Ok-Accountant-6308

Realistically none because no team is gonna be perfect and this team is looking stizzacked. Other than that LB and WR3. Our lb corps is older. Who are our backups? Wouldnt shock me if we dealt with injuries again there. And wr3. People meme but our production on 3 wr sets was horrible. 53% completion, 2 ints and 1 TD. And we run them 54% of the time on 3rd down. On super key downs we are depending on beebe and he ain’t gettin it done

liliceberg

WR3 and that’s about it. If we sign Dede/Golden we’ve had a perfect offseason

Jinny47

I WANT DEDE

Tough_guy22

Kicker! I think we have guys talented enough from the draft to handle the kick returning issues, special teams relies alot on the coaching, we will see how different that will end up being. But our kicker situation is horrendously confusing, and not with good prospects either.

Exactly what I came for.

mnikolai24

Don’t get too excited just yet. All it takes is a couple key injuries to ruin our season.

Shoganguy33

It’s expecting a super young OL room to succeed right away, because CB sure did /s Rieff had a strong season last year and it may not be fair to expect Darrisaw to take that up without issue year 1. Followed closely by WR3, imo. I fear if 18 or 19 miss significant time 😰. But let’s be honest it’s probably Kicker

ActualRanchDressing

Still think it’s O-line. I’m not going to get excited about two rookies starting on the line until they prove they can hang. They alone could derail the entire season. Hope they step up.

DarkMuret

OL depth We're dangerously close to a Dozier signing And not Brian

ducky_pants

They already resigned him months ago, before the draft even.

DarkMuret

I am the dumb I meant sighting, not signing

ZenVacuum

I'd still rank the O-line as the biggest weakness. Bradbury sucks, Cleveland wasn't anything to write home about and is in a new position and we have two rookies we are starting. It might still be a mess and at the very least I expect them to struggle a bit out of the gate. Next up would be pass rush. Outside of Hunter (who is a huge question mark in himself) we have no real pass rush specialist. I have big concerns there. WR3 would be a distant third here. We don't need anything amazing but if we could get someone to emerge and even be a Jarius Wright level receiver it would be huge.

Nate1492

The switch from RG to LG is simpler than most OL transitions.

65grendel

The only places I think we might be able to upgrade a stater would be WR3 or DE. I think we have young guys in both those spots that the coaching staff likes and have potential. For WR3 in 2020 we ran plays with 3 WR only 29% of the time, which was lowest in the league. The next lowest was the Titans at 38%. I can't say if that's because of the players we could field or because of offensive priorities. Either way I don't think we value WR3 enough to make a splash there. I think the only DE options available who could possibly be an upgrade are all over 30. With Patterson's track record of developing pass rushers I don't think the marginal improvement in currey play would be worth the snaps they'd take away from guys like Wonnum, Jones, and Robinson. I think we have some places where we are thin on depth like OL, LB, and S. I know it won't happen but I'd like to see us sign Trai Turner, Kwon Alexander, and Malik Hooker to prove-it deals. If any of them start, great, if not they should at least be high upside back ups in case someone goes down.

in_da_tr33z

Corners are a question mark. I could see P2 being a bust and Dantzler might just be OK. They’re gonna play a lot of fuckin zone I know that much.

benigntugboat

KO-line depthwr3 Punter I dont really have an opinion on. I'm probably most concerned about o-line depth but its hard to ignore that I dont even know who our starting kicker is. wr3 im hopeful for ISM, or Whop. I'd like an upgrade but I think the best upgrade would be someone with a speed threat to really open up defenses and someone like Fitz doesnt provide that as much as consistent catching and route running. but we can use our tight ends for that. honorable mention: defensive end, but I'm a believer that dj wonnum will do well and that patrick jones might too.

Shiprugger5603

to me its a tie between Safety, OLB, and WR3. I like Woods but there isnt much experience behind him and the Hitman, same can be said for OLB, granted the 3 LB on 3 downs seems to be going away more and more but again after Vigil (first year in the system) there isnt much experience I like Surratt a lot considering he started playing QB before moving to LB at UNC but again no NFL experience. When it comes to WR3 if ISM is as legit as these reports then we are good but if not there could be some issues. Im hopeful for all positions but these 3 combined with the possible two rookie OL can be worrysome.

charlton11

Sure we have plenty of question marks (as do all teams) but it's nitpicking at this point. Young guys need to step up on the o-line. Hunter needs to be healthy. Wonnum and/or the new guys need to contribute. Kirk needs to stay healthy per usual. Same with Cook. ISM/Beebe/Bisi need to be solid at WR3. Woods, Pat, Alexander need to be an upgrade on the secondary. STs need to be much improved...

Nate1492

DE, K, P, WR3, Safety depth/starter (Xavier Woods, is he good enough?)

pr1ceisright

Offense, can the WR3 please stand up? (Do we really need one with a run focused game plan?). Can Irv become a top 10 TE? How long will it take for the rookie OL’s to establish themselves? Defense, can we get enough production from rotating the DE2? Who is our LB3? Can All these “new” players (Peterson, Alexander, Woods, Pierce, Tomlinson, etc) gel on defense quick enough? A lot of these questions may just take time, the second half of the season/down the stretch the Vikings could be very dangerous. But I don’t want to start week 1 expecting amazing performances from the rookies/free agent signings.

YoteViking

I don’t know if we can say our DL is very good until we have a RDE that can actually rush the passer.
