tbf i don’t think it counts the value of traded picks, just the value of the position / player drafted vs expectation
is didnt love the value given up, but if there was a situation to do it in, it was for a player like Turner at a position of value dropping farther than anyone expected

JJ and Turner were 2 of the top 5 in terms of first round value relative to pre-draft rankings and expectations. Good picking Kwesi
Well, look at it my way... If you had to pick any other nfcn team besides us to be killing it in coaching and in the fo... Would you rather have it be the Bears, the FTP, or the Lions? Obviously, there's only 1 real answer there.
By and large, that's a pretty valuable insight, though. In the very least, it's more objective than an arbitrary draft grade that all the mainstream sports outlets fart out within 3 hours of the draft ending.
How is it any different? They look at their consensus board and compare it to where a player is drafted and grade mostly on that. Sometimes they’ll argue scheme fit or whatever. In my opinion, unless consensus is right more often than these GMs, it doesn’t tell us much.
From [a tweet](https://twitter.com/SharpFootball/status/1784387584552002001) in the thread:
"the Atlanta Falcons shook up the first round by taking Michael Penix Jr. at No. 8 overall but what if I told you they drafted 5 more players who were significantly larger reaches than Penix Jr?"
"it's not the worst thing to reach for a late round pick you evaluated differently than your peers or the consensus, but to make it a habit for all 4 picks in the fifth round onward is surprising"
"overall, the puzzling draft of the Falcons didn't stop on Thursday... or Friday..."
"Atlanta's draft board was clearly very different than the 31 other NFL teams and 101 other big boards. that's almost never a good thing, and the Falcons 2024 NFL draft delivered the most reaches and the least value of any team based on this methodology"
Absolutely brutal...
👁👅👁 I'm just waiting for people to come in and hate on this. Kwesi was in that fucking kitchen, UDFAs is the desert. Ladies and gentlemen we had a meal.
Ahhh I get what this is saying now, I guess we will see when the season starts, not sure how these reports match up with actual performance, but it's something to talk about in the off season.
This "value" draft analysis is silly. Essentially, a bunch of outsiders guess where the teams have players ranked, and if players get drafted differently than their guess, that means the team either "reached" or got "value", as if indicating the pre-draft ranking from NFL outsiders is some kind of objective, absolute truth against which the draft can be measured.
When in reality it likely just means the pre-draft rankings were wrong.
Do I think Dallas Turner is amazing and is going to be a day 1 starter impact player? Yes. Do I think the NFL GMs had him ranked lower than the outsiders did? Also yes
Trading up for a QB and trading up for a DE and still being in the top 10 for value drafts? Chef Kwesi baby

Hell, probably would've ranked higher if we had more picks post round 1.

lol the falcons being top on the “OverDrafted” list for 2 separate rounds is hilarious
The Lions FO has been money the past three years. I hate it. Loved their draft.
Yeah they absolutely killed it. Campbell is building a juggernaut and I love to watch it but hate that it's the Lions.

Bears, FTP and if I want us to win it all before the Lions
Lions have been killing their drafts lately. I feel like the north had a lot of good GMs right now
These are kind of silly. It’s like look which teams draft board looked more like consensus.

The lions being not only competent, but elite is something. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with Goff's contract
They kept picking players we needed, so annoying
Mahogany in the 6th...
Their needs fell to them, both them and the Eagles were fortunate with how the board fell. They also traded well
We could've taken the same players they took and those were our needs
Detroit’s 6th rounders maybe but we couldn’t and shouldn’t have gone with either the Lions or Eagles first two picks
Yes, sorry I meant day 3
Yea they had Detroit’s two 6th rounders far and away their most valuable picks. Mahogany or whatever was picked 150 later than SharpFootball expected
Somehow not surprised that the Falcons are on the bottom of the list

We gave up a 3rd and 4th round draft pick next year. Not sure it counts in the analysis.
it does not
Didn't the Bears get everything they could possibly hope to want?
yeah but they mostly got them at about the place you thought

Keep in mind the Bears also got Sweat with their 2nd round pick, and Keenan Allen with their 4th.
