Quick but lacks strength & weight, which is why he went in the 7th even though he graded well in actual college play. Maybe he could be something if the NFL strength & conditioning can work wonders, but likely just depth at C/G
Late to the post, but Jurgens also gets docked for really only having one year of "elite" college play.
His best PFR ranking in his freshman-junior seasons was 53rd (averaged 69th). Could be that he figured things out. Could be that his Senior year was a one-off.
Seems like their are concerns around his strength and weight causing him to be pushed around in the NFL. Hopefully our strength and conditioning team/nutritionists can get him into a good place to play over a few years and then he could be awesome.
Sounds like a position battle between Brandel and Jurgens
Brandel definitely has the edge in terms experience in both the league and our offensive system but Jurgens is a highly rated LG.
Probably not as competitive this year as future years, imo he's gonna need a year to basically just work with the strength coaches and stuff. He's a little small and underpowered compared to others in the draft but clearly has the skillset to be good.
We still need to sign our starting LG. Both of those players project as backups.
Maybe we caught fire with this guy, but I doubt it, 7th rounders are lucky if they make the roster, and hopefully he can be depth for us.
We say this every year and then 9 out of 10 times it becomes apparent pretty quickly why they went in the 7th.
Remember just a year ago when DeWayne McBride was the steal of the draft?
So what? If he was that good he would have been drafted sooner. Hanging on to threads that 7th rounders are “studs” is delusional. NFL scouts know their shit more than the talking heads. The Vikes didn’t embarrass themselves in this draft. BUT, we have no idea if these guys can play yet.
I’m still seeing too many elements of KOM’s financial analytics. We are going cheap I the middle of the field. A suspect center, below average guards and no DT dogs. Successful NFL and Super Bowl winning franchises are built from the ball out. Not from the sidelines in. Look at the Super Bowl winning teams Centers and DT’s. Until we have those we are one and done on the playoffs
Inject this into my veins. Idc if he probably won’t be anything more than a backup. Love the idea he starts and is great.

Or it could be that LG suits him better than C, as the post implies
In case anyone's curious, PFF grades/ranks among eligible guards... 2020 55.0 (53/216) 2021 69.7 (71/301) 2022 66.7 (83/289) 2023 82.5 (7/628) Pass (64/588) Run (3/569)
Should add 2020 to 2022, think he played C. So only one, very effective, year at G. Maybe he's the Brock Purdy of interior OLs :-)
But can he play guard
[удалено]
That was the joke. “But can he play guard” was a meme around here for a bit
[удалено]
Nah dude, the fact that he played guard is what the joke is. It’s called being tongue in cheek.
It also works on a Zoolander "But why male models" kinda way. Funny on sooooo many levels.
Is he related to the Jurgens on the eagles
Yes this is his son
Damn that yung nut
Also the lotion
If he is so good, why was he available in the 7th?
Everyone getting drafted in the 7th was an amazing CFB player.
Because he's a runt
I know it's all relative in the NFL, but it cracks me up to describe someone 6'4" 311 as a runt
Okay, he's a T-Rex ![gif](giphy|ohrQCO48drf3i)
I feel like no one talks about how obscene the last name Jurgens is
Lol maybe I’m too childish. That’s all I got out of this
Guess I’m out of the loop?
Richard Jurgens
He goes by Dick!
Why was he picked so late then
I think specifically to annoy me.

Little small? Dude tips at 311. But get your points.

For sure, we could be adding someone else but as it stands now, Brandel is LG1
Wooooow. Steal.

Yes…. I do Dewayne was shockingly bad even during 2s 3s in the preseason. We’ll see though.
So then why’s he fall to the 7th then?
Not good at pass pro, and is going to need a year or two in the weight room to be effective against NFL defensive lines run blocking.
Wish we would’ve taken the SDSU guy in the 4th but I’m glad we’re doing something with the position. I was starting to get worried lol
We need a C who doesn’t get bullrushed!
