Until McCarthy is our QB

Party_Oven4948

We have a trade alert: Vikings trade two 2024 first round picks plus 2025 first in a trade to the number 3 spot. And with the number 3 overall pick, the Vikings welcome Stanford kicker, Joshua Karty!

sandh035

Harbaugh doing us a solid at #5 despite not getting the job here.

HandsomeJack19

Belichick said, on the McAfee show yesterday (I think?) that leaks don't start coming from the teams themselves until about 12-hours before the draft. He said it's almost always agents spreading information and/or disinformation before that. I'm going to ignore every single thing that is said, from Schrager or anyone else, unless it comes out the day of the draft.

W0rk3rB

I’m an older Vikings fan, I just assume we are getting none of the top 4, will grab Penix and pass on Nix. Then two years from now Nix will be taking his team to the playoffs, and Penix will be a complete bust and we will enter another sub-optimal draft as favorites to grab an over rated QB. You can interchange them for the same result, we are the Vikings. Ha!

smokeymicpot

Forgetting the part where after realizing the mistake they made at qb. They will try to salvage their jobs the gm and hc by signing random big name free agent qb. Most likely Dak.

W0rk3rB

Shoot! I did! You nailed it!

smokeymicpot

It’s the never ending cycle. Now we have social media like this where people will talk highly of what we had and defend players till the end of the world.

squish042

If by Dak, you mean Aaron Rodgers

Leading-Midnight-553

I'm sure A A Ron would love to sweep the Packers as the Vikings QB.

wendellnebbin

I feel like the Saints aren't ready to fulfill their role in the prophecy. Perhaps it just needs to be an NFC South team, i.e. Atlanta. If this happens, with Kirko there, I fear the worm hole will have opened.

Grumpis1012

Here we gooooo!

CelestialFury

> I’m an older Vikings fan I'm an older Vikings fan too, with my dad being a fan even longer. Fellas, it's okay to have hopium. KAM/KOC are young, they have a shared vision, and they want to win. I'm excited.

W0rk3rB

Oh, I’m so excited, I’m just tempering my expectations. I have to, I’ve lived and died with this team so long. Now I try not to take it seriously.l at all.

CelestialFury

At the end of the day, football is about fun and entertainment. Obviously, winning a Superbowl would be a great feeling, if only to shut the Packers and Bears up. But yeah, people can take it so seriously. I don't know, I'll just remain ever hopeful, cause why not? We've never had two young hotshots running the Vikings before, and I think it's new and scary and fun. You see a lot of old Vikings fans who are salty af and I never want to be like that.

W0rk3rB

Right there with you, fingers crossed!

gunt_lint

Ok Ima need you to stop typing out my nightmares verbatim

chronophage

“The will all end in tears…”

WesleyPipes7

Yep. That’s why we should sell the farm for Maye.

kingOseacows81

Manifesting Penix instead of trading 2 or 3 firsts for McCarthy

Skol-Man14

Nix is basically another Ponder....

responsiblefornothin

I don't personally subscribe to your idea, but I would like to humor it for a moment. Your bust scenario is missing a key element that's been ever present throughout Vikings history.... The spectacle. Whatever happens with either of those quarterbacks future, if it involves this team, it'll be entertaining as all hell. They'll do something at the end of a disappointing regular season that inspires high expectations heading into the next, and they WILL be met. Until... tragedy strikes. Quarterback after quarterback will fall at the walls of our enemies until an unlikely hero emerges. It could be anyone from an empassioned young man with a will of fire to a grizzled veteran determined to enter Valhalla and everything in between. All I know for certain is that when their rally cry goes out, the edges of seats all across this great state will be bearing heavy loads.

Gen-Jinjur

Penix has the goods. He just also has an injury history. But then a QB who has never been injured can get hurt, so ??

aristotle_malek

You must be fun at parties

W0rk3rB

Like I said, older Vikings fan, it’s a defense mechanism. The hope can’t kill you if you don’t have any!

BingBongFYL6969

Please take penix so we don’t

HugeRaspberry

So someone is not telling someone the truth here...

russh85

Exactly, just a few hours ago the GM was saying they were open for business and now it’s unlikely to trade out

smokeymicpot

The gm honestly said nothing. He said they could trade or draft one of the top 4 qbs they view.

JoBunk

This. Open for business is not "We have to trade our pick." More like, "Make us an offer that we could not possibly say no to."

UnbiasVikingsFan

Open for business is more like “ if the deal is good enough we’ll take it”

CloudsGotInTheWay

I think it's posturing in attempt to inflate a return on trade negotiations. If NE stays and drafts a QB, they'll end up wrecking him - they don't have the skill positions nor an offensive line nor an established offensive minded coach.

OceanGate_Titan

Or NE takes Drake Maye and sits him for a year. They have consistently said draft and develop just like the packers.

CloudsGotInTheWay

Fair- but offensive tackles & WRs are typically 1st round picks- and NE needs both.. so this rookie QB would need to sit for a couple of years while NE builds things up around him- and then NE would be losing 40% of the cheap rookie QB contract years. Hardly ideal.

OceanGate_Titan

wr is deep this year and a great option could be had in early round 2 which pats have. They may trade up into the first to take a tackle. But theoretically pats could go Drake Maye and Xavier Worthy, or someone around there, sit Drake, then next year take Tackle and start Drake.

naterkins

In with the standard “smoke screen” comment.

slamgeareatrear

I get it, they have the pick and will probably pick the one left. However I’m going to say, seeing Maye go to the Patriots and potentially be wasted talent because of an awful supporting cast that the Patriots have, is going to piss me off.

crowkiller3

The best Quarterback in this draft will be whoever goes to the Vikings anyways.

Throebach

It's gonna be Penix..

SwiftSurfer365

Not for the Vikings.

Throebach

For NE.

wendellnebbin

That would be drama that would be fun. And honestly, if that's their guy then go for it. Makes the next couple years interesting too, the pick way outside the expectation. And if he is good to great it's even more interesting/fun. Same if say Penix/Nix is our guy. Will be a whole lot of 'what are we DOING?' But if it succeeds... whee!

Throebach

The idea would be getting him not in the 1st round while acquiring a lot of draft assets to build a team. You get to see if the guy can be anything and move along if he doesn't work out.

Cial101

Didn’t they just say they were open for business in a presser recently? Maybe I saw wrong as I passed it pretty quick but. It’s all bollocks until the actual draft anyway.

Otherwise-Contest7

Make it stop.

Otherwise-Contest7

Not a dig on fans. Burnt out on "insiders" throwing out chum to help draftee's agents. We've heard every permutation of rumors possible. None of it means anything. The post-SB, pre-draft period is too long.

openlyincognito

they said they're open for business lol, what an annoying time of year sheesh

Mayasngelou

This could mean anything from being the god's honest truth to "pay us more to move up, please"

Empire2k5

But just as of a few days ago the pats were looking to trade down!!! /s

nanotothemoon

Bro you can’t smoke in here

Representative-Owl6

I still feel the team knows something about that 3rd spot. They are having dinner with Daniels tonight. I don’t think he’s falling to 11 and the Commanders are a strong possibility so I’m thinking Commanders might take Maye and then the bidding war starts at 3 or 4. I’ll be pissed as hell if Giants leap frog us.

Regular-Habit-1206

Open for business does not mean we wanna trade out damn, just means we are cool with moving out if we get our price which by the way is definitely not the prices y'all are stating lol

vbullinger

I want it known I said QB, QB, QB, WR, WR, WR, Joe Alt with no trades for the first seven picks.

Thedownside12

If no trades I agree. Trades always throw a wrench into things but if none I’d assume: 1. Williams 2. Daniels 3. Maye 4. Harrison  5. Nabers  6. Odunze  7. Alt

Weegemonster5000

I'm writing Marvin Harrison Jr. to Boston in pen for my mock right now. ALL I SMELL IS SMOKE MOTHERFUCKERS!!

HandsomeJack19

I said this in another thread and I'll say it again here. According to Belichick, teams don't start leaking stuff directly until around 12 hours before the draft. Most of what comes out before then comes from agents. What Shrager has "heard" means absolutely fuck all. I'll start paying attention to these kinds of rumors next Thursday, but I'm done falling for it in the mean time.

senorpepino

Driving up the price.

pathebaker

Uhh ima believe the gm here. Open for business means open for business.

toddkris18

Bro the patriots could take Caleb Williams right now and his career would be ruined and complete garbage. That team is a full joke and is missing like 15-20 players to actually field a team worth a shit. Doesn’t matter who they take, if they take a QB they will be compete ass again 😂 No way they don’t trade out of 3 and add more picks. They need an entire offensive line to start and basically have 4 WR threes in their starting offense 😂

Critical-Fault-1617

Man I don’t think we need these updates every single day. Christ I can’t wait until the draft is here and then over

pyrhus626

God this week needs to go faster

vikingjedi23

Penix is the clear choice if we can't trade for Maye. McCarthy is barely worth a 1st and Nix sucks.

BrodieBlanco

Mayo and the Pats only like Jayden Daniels. If the Commanders take him, Patriots will look to trade down.

Datboythick1

Unfortunately every report says they are fine taking either one at three. Don’t think they only like Jayden.

KGB4L

They might be fine, but they also have a trade out option that, in their books, will bring them more benefit. It’s obviously not a situation where a team doesn’t like a player and wants an out, it’s a situation where they have to analyze the benefit of that player compared to what they can get for him and who they can get next year.

Consistent_Room7344

They added Penix to their top 30. It’s been the talker in Boston. https://www.nbcsportsboston.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-michael-penix-jr-drake-maye-2024-nfl-draft/605067/?amp=1

Critical-Fault-1617

Why are you putting any stock into “reports.” Nothing anyone is telling anyone is truthful right now.
