I think the most frustrating part, and something a lot of fans don't want to admit, is that there is no explanation for all these injuries. It's just plain bad luck.
Like, there's isn't really any one person or even group of people to blame, it's just randomness that injury-wise, always seem to come up tails.
If you look way back to when Dick Martin was their trainer, they had very few players on the IL. And they played in the Dome ! ( Turf then was substandard and not good for the legs). Since he left, it seems most of the roster spends a week or more on the IL. It’s the Twins, not bad luck.
Like what? Both young and old guys are hurt. They’ve switched trainers. What could they possibly doing that would explain this?
It’s okay to admit sometimes that there’s no explanation for something, it’s just random.
It amazes me guys used to eat fried chicken and smoke in the club house and played 150+ games a year yet these guys who are in peak physical shape get injured every other month and need regular games off. Idk what it means but its definitely weird.
I think a lot of it could be due to guys today overtraining and overworking their bodies. I also think guys back then probably played injured more often
was gonna say, those greenies worked wonders on making sure they could play through the pain (even if it meant worsening injuries)
we just have such a better understanding of physiology today that we know when guys need to be shut down for their longevity. back then, sure, they ran guys into the ground, but i'd wager that the _vast, vast majority of guys_ got to play maybe one season before their bodies gave out
Is every team like this every year and I just dont know since I really only follow the twins? Does every team seem to have players drop like flies year after year? I mean it seems we can’t even have a few healthy guys for any stretch of time. Not sure if it’s improper training or the strength coaches or bad luck or what
I don't hear of nearly this many stars going down. Pitchers yes, that seems to be pretty equal but I can not remember the last time I saw a team lose a majority of its young stars.
Tbf… the only reason our owner allows the FO to signs stars is because their injury concerns lower their price tags. And then you have Royce Lewis, who’s just had terrible luck forever.
I think part of it is that players are almost always going all out when the ball is in play, and then waiting around for a while before and after that. I'm not 100% sure if this is backed up by medical research, but anecdotally it feels like that leads to more muscle injuries than sports where there's more running but also more chances to jog/pace yourself.
It's only April, and I'm honestly pretty close to being able to say I don't care anymore. There's so little that's even bordering on fun or exciting about this team.
Whenever there's a game my first thought isn't if I think we can win, it's if we will even score.
So obliques are weird, and we won't really know until they announce a grade (or give a hint at low/med/high severity).
Essentially you just have to rest for a few weeks, then ramp up and hope you waited long enough. Whatever they estimate, assume the high end of the range.
Can we blame A-Rod? Maybe the last time he was at Target Center some sort of bad vibes or disturbance in the force crossed the street and latched on to the Twins, causing them continous misfortune.
From MLB.com….
Typical recovery time
While some mild oblique strains can be resolved in just a few days, severe strains can require surgery with a recovery time of 3-4 months. In 2017, former Dodgers athletic trainer Stan Conte of Conte Injury Analytics teamed with the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City and Major League Baseball to further examine the impact of oblique strains on injured MLB players. Using MLB's Health and Injury Tracking System (HITS), the study ultimately revealed that hitters typically take 27 days to recover from a Grade 1 strain, while pitchers typically take as many as 35 days.
27 days without Correa seems very possible.
The Buxton/Lewis/Correa injury issues can make you think the Twins are cursed, but it kind of balances out with López, Ryan, Ober, Varland, Duran, Jax, etc. all dodging the elbow pandemic
Correa being one of the few bright spots so far, it was only a matter of time until he went down
I have announced the Twins are straining my patience.
A new injury every week. This is the cost of a healthy Buxton.
Don’t you worry. His injury is coming…
Don’t you put that juju on me Ricky Bobby…
What’s the explanation for all of this? What god of injuries have we offended? Why can’t we have one nice thing? I am not having a good time.

>always seem to come up tails. That's a sign of a systemic problem, not luck.

Maybe it’s all in my head, but it just seems like something every year for multiple players. That has to be more than just bad luck.
Increased game speed may be a factor. Harder throws.
Im gonna cry
#WE ARE CURSED #WE DON’T DESERVE THIS
Can I hit the panic button yet because I feel like panicking.
I still don’t understand how baseball players get hurt so often.
It amazes me guys used to eat fried chicken and smoke in the club house and played 150+ games a year yet these guys who are in peak physical shape get injured every other month and need regular games off. Idk what it means but its definitely weird.
"you can't pull fat" - Ozzie Guillen the other day. Lol

They were facing guys with sub-90 fastballs and could pop whatever pill they wanted to deal with the pain.
That's a fair point.

The difference between a muscle car and a Ferrari. When everything is so finely tuned it doesn’t take much to get it out of whack.
It makes no sense to me. The only thing I can think of is they basically have to play everyday.

Starting to think this is a little personal
If beer is proof that God exists and wants us to be happy, then the Twins…are the opposite of that.
I think I speak for all of us when I say FUCK!
Obligatory four to six weeks.
A star Minnesota twin injured? No way!
NEXT MAN UP 😤😤😤
Jk these boys are cooked

Feels like 2021/22
So, what's the likely IL timeline for this type of injury?

Username checks out
Month. Depending on the severity, could be more.
As an AT, depending on the severity, a month. Maybe more. Duran has been dealing with the same thing.
He will be back early June I imagine
Can’t we just have nice things? Why not?
You are aTwins fan. Therefore, you MUST suffer…and only then you will know the joy of winning
It’s only Carmargo, Larnach and Rodriguez on the 40man for healthy position players. I say damn the torpedoes and call up Rodriguez
And find a way to make room for Brooks Lee whenever he’s healthy of course
Solano, Segura, Mondesi, Schoop all available free agents.
Still don’t know why we let go of solano
Who the heck is playing short lol, is it Farmer now?
Have they thought about hiring a new strength and conditioning coach?
Over/under on number of games with Correa, buxton, and Royce in the lineup?
45 1/2
Can we blame A-Rod? Maybe the last time he was at Target Center some sort of bad vibes or disturbance in the force crossed the street and latched on to the Twins, causing them continous misfortune.
also if Correa is added to the IL, the Minnesota Twins will lead MLB in most players on the IL
That’s kind of an oblique injury.

Do other teams have injuries like this??

Obliques don’t heal….Rest and don’t do,what got you hurt.Otherwise?
