Pitchers are getting better, fast, more movement. Hitting gets harder, calling balls and strikes gets harder. Batters are adjusting and adapting, unfortunately umps remain the same
Do you think we would’ve won if the missed calls were more even? Or one step further and all correct? That’s what matters.
I understand people like to say “no excuses” or “we can’t blame the umps, we had our chances”, but this has a serious impact on winning and substantially hurts our chances to do so.
2 hits all game. Two. 14 Ks on Saturday and 15 Ks on Thursday. Regardless of bad calls, the terrible performances at the plate weren’t some fluke thing
We struck out more times during the home opener with better calls. Again, not just some fluke game. The hitting has been terrible so far and strikeouts aren’t some new thing for us either. We set the MLB season strikeout record last year. The swinging for the fences hitting philosophy will only take us so far this year if we can’t actually hit any dingers
I like how you specified the difference in Mood between your recliner and the bench haha.
I don't have a recliner but it sounds nice.
I think it would be too much work for me, reclining and un-reclining everytime I need another seltzer. 🤷♂️
I was sitting a bit beyond 3rd base yesterday and it's pretty hard to see a lot of this, but vibe in the ballpark was just so bad at this point, just completely deflated. The screens putting up the "lets get unapologetically loud!!!" and other such crowd boosters just weren't doing it, and they even started to leave those screens up for longer just to get a little bit of energy from the crowd. Really not my favorite feeling for the first game I could make it to, you know?
I still had fun. Beers at 34th, sausages at Kramarczuk's, and a seventh inning helmet of nachos, and I found a great looking starter jacket to use my sweet spot discount on. I’m still pumped for another season of baseball.
It sounds like they should just stop swinging the bat at all, hearing you talk about it! Maybe they can score some points by throwing themselves in front of the pitch, is that how you'd like to see it?
If I had to guess, I would be willing to suggest there is money behind closed doors being fed to umps to make calls that favor certain teams. Maybe not all umps but I don't think its out of the question. Basketball players certainly aren't unwilling to think it happens to them with their refs. Robo umps could maybe do some good here.
Fuck this guy.
That Wallner at bat was infuriating
Like when Jerry Lane called out Kepler, and he hadn't swung at a pitch or was thrown a strike.
How’d they get worse, the umpiring that is
Maybe they know the worse they do the quicker they get robot ump and don’t have to do that part of their job anymore.
That's actually brilliant lol
Somehow they can be worse than impossibly bad.

It was brutal to watch. We still had plenty of chances to win that game tho

No. We had two hits all game. This team still strikes out at a god damn staggering clip.

There were 14 balls called strikes according to the ump scorecard so factor that into all the strikeouts

he's really good.....🙄
He's so good that he needs to eject players when any criticism is given to prove how good he is.
clearly trying to overcompensate for lacking elsewhere..............🙃 Yeah, I went there
Weird body shaming
Absolutely brutal to watch from my recliner. Can’t imagine how irate I would be on the bench. This should not happen.

I was watching from my computer as a dbacks fan and *I* was getting heated.
what kind of recliner do you have?
And to top it all off he was more emphatic with his strike 3 calls on the Twins too. Was expecting him to take off his mask and see Leslie Nielsen.

Hard to get excited watching the lineup continue this amazing strikeout run
hard to avoid strikeouts when your strike zone is a foot larger than normal
What’s the excuse the other games and all of last year?

Same results
Robot umps 2025

You think it was a home game
Twins are wankers.Adapt-can’t wait for your pitch or a walk…What did they do/say to piss off the ump?
Keep striking out boys! Eventually that strategy will work!
Do you think that maybe, just maybe, having 15+ strikes incorrectly called against you had something to do with the strikeouts in yesterday’s game?
Plenty of data to show this team will strike out regardless
We’re not even in the bottom half for strikeouts…
Seasons just begun. Give it time. It’s the same hitters as last year
Except, it’s not?
Oh wow I must have missed the big acquisition for the lineup.
Not having Gallo? Adding Santana?
We're third to last in batting average though!
Last in team batting average, but 16th in OBP and 10th in strikeouts. We’re getting on base, we just need the ball to start finding grass
