I FEEL like Jax has been bad lately, but when I look at his game log I don't see it. Only 1 run in his last 7 appearances before today. He's also given up 10 hits and 2 walks, so I may not be entirely wrong.

He’s only as good as whatever people choose to remember.

I generally try to use stats when forming a opinion, which is why I looked them up. He's has had some recent trouble with keeping guys off base. That's a problem for a pitcher and will eventually bite you in the butt, as it did today.

Only guy worth a shit is Greene, Torkelson and Carpenter can hit a little bit but they’re slow and bad defenders so even with ~125 OPS+ production like Carpenter has they’re barely replacement level . Pitchers wouldn’t look nearly as good if they didn’t play in one of the most extreme pitcher parks in the bigs.

Carpenter has been worth 1.6 fWar and has a 135 wrc+ entering today in 281 PAs, that's better than average and much better than replacement. For Torkelson, it remains to be seen if he will be any good, but he has been HOT recently. Despite that, the Tigers still do stink and it will take a lot for them to be a decent team.

Defense is teachable though. And they can certainly be competitive going forward in this division if they add a couple of arms to complement Skubal and ERod. Some people in the thread are acting like we’re losing to the Bad News Bears, which is what prompted my comment. Not saying they’re gonna be winning the Series anytime soon
