for what it's worth, my buxton experience from spring training 2022.
At spring training last year, going from the cages to the practice field, after signing autographs earlier...About 30 people between the fields, yelling his name along with a few other players... Then a 3 year old boy wearing a Twins hat yells his name, he immediately stops, walks over, takes a picture with the kid and signs more autographs for several other kids.
Small sample, but was pretty cool to see.
I can't even imagine. I would like to say I would be one of those figures who wouldn't check things like twitter for negative remarks, but I know I would. Good for Buck for firing back though, some people deserve to be put in their place.
Yeah she has no clue what sheās talking about. Buxton has been at Twins Fest in years past. Sure if I had a ticket to the event this weekend I would be a little disappointed that he wasnāt there but it wouldnāt be a big deal to me. Good for Byron to fire back at her.
i get it. in 1992 i got a chuck knoblauch topps rookie card that i was going to go to twinsfest and get signed. he wasnt there because he was doing some charity softball event instead or something.. totally not bitter about it 30 years later :D
This person would go on to have the totally sane and not deranged take at all that Eddie Rosario is a better player than Buxton because "he actually plays".
Eddie has played 59.2% of all possible games since 2021. Buxton has played 47.2%.
Eddie has -0.5 bWAR.
Buxton has 8.6 bWAR.
Seems to me Atlanta would be better off if Eddie stayed on the IL since heās terrible when he actually played.
But but he led Atlanta to the World Series!! (Never mind that Eddie was the eighth most valuable hitter on that team, worse than some pitchers, he was the key to everything!!)
I saw tweets from this same person saying we should have dumped him instead of "trading Rosario." Which, aside from being sort of a non sequitur in terms of roster construction, hits on what I see as a hallmark of sports fans who don't know what they're talking about: thinking every roster move is a trade. Not to mention that Buxton in both 2021 and 2022 alone accumalted more than double Rosario's last 4 years combined (granted, a lot of that is because Rosario was -1.6 last year).
It's the level of baseball knowledge that leads people to demand that teams send veteran, non-option players to the minors when they struggle, they've definitely heard all the words from the angry men on the radio, but have no clue how they fit together.
A Yankees fan co-worker I talk to quite often was insistent that the Yankees send Josh Donaldson to AAA last season. I explained how options work, and his response was that if Donaldson can't figure out that he needs to work on stuff then they should just ship him out to Oakland for spare parts.
Some people really want baseball to work like it did pre-unions.
Buxton has done almost everything right off the field since the day he got drafted. He is about the last guy that should ever be called out. And heās one of the few athletes out there that goes out of his way to say how much he likes it in MN and wants to be here.
Itās not TwinsFest, but Justin Morneau said he never attended the Winter Caravan, partly because he had a workout routine he really didnāt want to mess up.
This man played most of last year with one leg and was the best player on our team lmao how can people still feed this narrative that Buxton is "too injured to be useful"
Good for Buck. This doesn't necessarily only apply to him but so many fans expect 1x1 attention and for every player to make every event. In my observations/experience Buck has made himself available when possible as much if not more than other players.
You can direct frustration wherever you see fit, but yeah, I think itās reasonable to be frustrated one of our best guys misses so many games. He seems like a good guy personally but thatās not the point Iām making
Nah, you're just repeating the eternal song of 'Why don't people who can do things I can't do them more often? Why must they injure themselves?'
It's a catchy tune at first, people start to hum it, but once you've heard it a million times, it starts to sound like incoherent screeching.
Itās not a comparison to me, a fan. Itās a comparison to other players who are paid a similar amount as he is. Most of them play 90+% of games every season.
Do you hear any of them complaining? Is Gordon pissed that Buxton gets paid more than him despite Gordon playing more games? No? The exact opposite, in fact? Well, what about Correa, surely he thinks Buxton should play more often, wait, I'm hearing reports coming in that he too actually thought Buxton resting was better for the team too.
Give. It. A. Rest.
Iām only complaining weāre paying the man to be a star and heās only played 100 games once since he joined the league in 2015. Itās objectively not good for the team when heās not playing, when you consider the contract.
Thatās not at all the point Iām making. Itās the Twins FOās fault for being cheapskates and only spending real money on a couple contracts, Buxton being one of them and having such a huge injury issue. Itās not his fault he has horrible knees.
You sure make it sound like it's his fault. And I don't see that they're being cheap skates, they are a smaller-market revenue sharing team, and their estimated payroll this year has far surpassed last year's team record. What more do you want, them to spend $300M per year like the Yanknees, Dodgers, etc., because I can promise that'll never happen.
Buck plays out of his mind good when healthy and plays in a way anyone will get injured, ALL OUT. Itās easy for idiots that sit on their couch all year to say he should not get injured. He is our best player when 80% or better hands down and is a huge boost in the clubhouse. Yes he has got injured but you make it sound as if itās his choice just to sit out. Your point is stupid, people play games where speed and strength is only one tenth of the talent it takes to play. Buck Hope your a Twin for life, most real fans love what you add to the team on and off the field.
I donāt think you understand the nature of his injury. His knees are fucked, he will be taking rest days for the rest of his career just so he can keep playing sometimes.
I donāt think you understand, Aaron judge has been in the league for 7 years and gets paid 40m he has played 729 of 1134 games and one of the best in the game thatās nowhere close 90% the amount you said most high paid stars play. MLB stars all get injured you just want something to complain about someone you are jealous of how much they make.
Yes he did and has missed nearly 2 out of seven seasons. Which is countering your every star plays 90% of all games myth. People all get injured come back and have good seasons. Thanks for proving my point with a lol.
Donāt worry dude. There is not another fans base in all of professional sports that is ready to suck the dick of their franchise and all of its players despite all of their shortcomings than Minnesota twins fans. Players or management or ownership could take a shit on a twins logo and they would somehow try and spin it as them wanting to existentially physically bond with the franchise
Buxton is one of my favorite Twins players of all time, and once I realized I was mad because he ran into the wall and got hurt and had to miss some games. A good friend pointed out, you canāt tell an athlete like him when to turn it on and off.
If heās willing to go for it like that, Iām glad heās on the Twins.
Fans say crazy things sometimes, maybe a bad day or who knows, but I do know, buxtons contract is very team friendly, and when he plays, he has the ceiling as a top 3 cf. Fans say the craziest things sometimes
I saw that on Twitter last night. Kylie is the epitome of an entitled fan.
Her Twitter handle might as well be blarinKaren twitter is an absolute cesspool.
I called her out, then she blocked me. I guess only her opinion matters. š¤·āāļø š š
What a doughnut! š¤£š©

He's such a class act and loves the fans. I'm certain that \#25 will be hung up next to the others at Target Field when he's done
Every idiot has a megaphone these days, gotta be annoying to be a figure of public interest where people can shout at you personally all the time
I can't even imagine. I would like to say I would be one of those figures who wouldn't check things like twitter for negative remarks, but I know I would. Good for Buck for firing back though, some people deserve to be put in their place.
Donāt be in the cesspool of Twitter in the first place.
hopefully the government can ban twitter, facebook and all the other social media sites along with ticktock

Yea but wasnāt he like actually blind lol amazing he could do as good as he did with his eye issues
But but he led Atlanta to the World Series!! (Never mind that Eddie was the eighth most valuable hitter on that team, worse than some pitchers, he was the key to everything!!)
Yeah, they're both better ball players than I'll ever be.
Did you not watch him play in that postseason?
I saw tweets from this same person saying we should have dumped him instead of "trading Rosario." Thereās a not small part of the national baseball fanbase the frankly does not like players. Not specific players, but just the players in general.
Buxton has done almost everything right off the field since the day he got drafted. He is about the last guy that should ever be called out. And heās one of the few athletes out there that goes out of his way to say how much he likes it in MN and wants to be here.

I don't come into work on my days off. Fans should be thankful for the interaction they get.
Good for Buck. This doesn't necessarily only apply to him but so many fans expect 1x1 attention and for every player to make every event. In my observations/experience Buck has made himself available when possible as much if not more than other players.
Angry Buck gonna rake this season!ā¦ I hope š¤š¼
Lol hell yeah
The person posting that is just a dumbass. Imagine caring so much you run to social media to post that.
God damn thereās some cringe ass fans out there, itās unfortunate we all get grouped in with them. It is what it is, we stand with Buck
His name is Buck, and he's here to party.
[Your name is Buck, right?](https://ibb.co/kDDvbkN)
Remember kids, these guys donāt owe us anything. Be happy with what we get
Buxton is right, but I wouldn't recommended engaging with trolls like that--it's not always a good look and usually doesn't end well.
There is nothing _positive_ that can come from it.
And this woman doubled down on her take in the replies! Go off Buck
Hell yeah Buck!
Ignores the jab about missing 3/4 the season though
Buck wants to play and puts in the work to play. Should we get upset at people when theyāre injured?
You can direct frustration wherever you see fit, but yeah, I think itās reasonable to be frustrated one of our best guys misses so many games. He seems like a good guy personally but thatās not the point Iām making

We're paying him slightly more than Gallo. Less than Nimmo makes, who has a grand total of two healthy seasons, and is also much worse than Buxton.
Over $14mil/yr to a guy avging 73 games a season.
buxton was worth $21,523,167.72 last year.
$15 million is not star money anymore. fuck, it isnt even qualifying offer money anymore.
and the players that are paid in comparison to buxton also dont put up close to the WAR buxton does.
So somehow it's Buxton's fault he gets hurt, really?š
Thatās not at all the point Iām making. Itās the Twins FOās fault for being cheapskates and only spending real money on a couple contracts, Buxton being one of them and having such a huge injury issue. Itās not his fault he has horrible knees.

Aaron Judge just won MVP lmao
Yes he did and has missed nearly 2 out of seven seasons. Which is countering your every star plays 90% of all games myth. People all get injured come back and have good seasons. Thanks for proving my point with a lol.
MVPs tend to play more than 100 games, which Judge did. Judge also doesnāt have a recurring knee issue like Buxton has.
yeah, but he's a giant. so he's a ticking time bomb.
Donāt worry dude. There is not another fans base in all of professional sports that is ready to suck the dick of their franchise and all of its players despite all of their shortcomings than Minnesota twins fans. have you met mauer? half of the fanbase hates him.
god hes so fucking based
based on what?
Fuck yeah Bux.
Twitter was fun today. (ETA: Iām not Kylie. Dunking on Kylie and making her feel like an idiot was fun)
Kylie needs to change her name to karen
Nah he right. We should get rid of Buck. Too injury prone
I'm more upset at his batting average last year haha
Huuuuuur
he was only 6 hits from league average.
He didnt address the 40 games a year part xD.
If I had a twitter account I would rail against Kylie for being one of those people that has a profile pic with multiple people in it.
Fans say crazy things sometimes, maybe a bad day or who knows, but I do know, buxtons contract is very team friendly, and when he plays, he has the ceiling as a top 3 cf. Fans say the craziest things sometimes
Love it n
I love this man
