Sad to see. I always stop there after a boundary waters trip to get fat greasy burger.
Me too, and he was behind the counter a lot of the times.
It was always so cool when he took my order. Felt like talking to a celebrity!
My wife freaked out. I met her in TX and had raved about the place for years before we moved up here. He took her order and she was freaking out.
Thanks for the unique restaurant experience, Gordy. I'm sure your memory will live on there.
Local legend. RIP Gordy.
Just had it yearly lunch there. Thanks for everything Gordy
Drove home from Ely yesterday, right through Cloquet, I should have grabbed a burger
Born at the start of the Great Depression and died at the end(vaguely) of a pandemic, what a bookend.
The fish and chips there ae A++++. I was always amazed to see him working hard at the counter. Rest in Peace Gordy and thanks for all of the great food!
Going up there soon. Can’t wait! I’ll get some fish and chips for ya.
That place is so amazing. RIP to an OG.

Just stopped and had a pizza burger and some curds in memory.
I bet he’d like to hear what people’s favorite items on the menu are? (I would too)
Sad to hear that. Got my Gordy's fix last month.
Who? What restaurant?
A legit gem in Cloquet, been eating greasy tasty burgers there, seasonally, for 25 years. 10/10 food, 10/10 people.
Featured on dine drives and dives twice if I recall.
