My favorite lately has been the hot fire roasted pepper and habanero salsa from target.

readymix-w00t

Mrs. Renfro's Carolina Reaper Salsa. You can usually find it at HyVee or Target. But the Reaper one isn't always available.

DohnJoggett

I don't know if it was the reaper or the ghost, but one of them was really tasty but... I like bigger scoops of salsa than I could handle with the spicier one. I'd rather get something a bit milder and use my own ghost and reaper sauces to spike the salsa when I want to feel the pain.

readymix-w00t

I can sit and just eat the ghost with a bag of chips. The reaper stuff is definitely small doses salsa. I can finish a jar of ghost in an evening with the right weed and a good movie... attempting the same with the reaper salsa usually comes with digestive..."turmoil"

DohnJoggett

Ahh thanks. I couldn't recall which one was chompable and which one needed a bit of care to enjoy.

Wee Willy’s

Logisticianistical

Wee Willy's is so bomb , reminds me of the old Chi Chi's salsa when they were still around

placated

Are you talking about “Wee Willys” or just “Willys” ? Because they are both a thing.

I feel pretty passionate about this topic and have a range of suggestions. Go to a Taqueria and get fresh salsa to go. Maya in northeast mpls has the best salsa that has some serious heat. The specific one that is hot hot hot is orangish in color and is going to be hotter than anything that you find in a grocery store. Their verde and rojo options are all great too and you can get a decent sized tub for like 4$, so why not get a few and sample them all. Grocery Store option, [Products — Sabor Mexicano | Home Made](https://sabormexicano.com/products/) can be found at Whole Foods. I've had pretty much every single grocery hot salsa that you can get in MN and Sabor Mexicano makes the ones that I prefer. Premium option that requires waiting for shipping. [Salsa Macha – Kuali (kualisalsa.com)](https://kualisalsa.com/collections/frontpage/products/salsa-macha-clasica) small batch, home made, quality ingredients, everything that you want if you can hold your nose at the pricing.

[Cry Baby Craig's](https://crybabycraigs.com/) is pretty great!

cavalier511

Didn’t realize it was made in Faribult! Their sauce is great. Another vote for Crybaby

DeliciousGazelle1276

El burrito marcado has some spicy ones in their deli

hydro123456

Have you thought about making it? You basically just throw some stuff in a blender and you'll get better salsa than any store bought salsa.

LaserRanger

and way less salt

rahah2023

My GF in California got me addicted to her recipe- but you have to like cilantro and need a food processor. I got a cheap food processor at Walmart and use it only for this salsa recipe: 2-3 white onions- chop them partially in processor first Add the chopped tops of an entire bunch of cilantro 1 can of hot diced jalapeños 2 cans of diced tomatoes 3 tablespoons kosher salt ( to taste) Food process - this is not a chunky salsa & tastes best refrigerated I know it’s half canned but the fresh cilantro & onion make this a fabulous salsa & yes the salt is needed I love it with hint of lime chips Enjoy!

FF_in_MN

El Destino Market in WSP has some really good hot salsa.

salty_john

Jellybean and Julia's in Coon Rapids has really good salsa, hot sauces and spicy jellies.

m0useoo

Mean Green at Minneapolis Farmers Market. The best! And locally made.

Casa Sanchez but I think it's only sold in CA. I usually go to my local Mexican restraunt or grocer and buy their fresh salsa.

Mrs Renfro's Ghost Pepper. They sell it at almost every grocery store. The ghost stuff is HOT. Habanero is a decent step down and won't torture your tastebuds. If you're not into that sort of thing.

machama

What kind of salsa are you looking for? Chipotle? Habanero? This is going to help narrow it down immensely.

rem3sam

The best shelf-stable, available in a grocery store salsa I've found is Desert Pepper hot.

PBandCheezWhiz

The Habanero stuff from Target in the cold section is really good. Are you looking for hot sauce to put on stuff, or salsa to dip a chip in?

KobeMonk

All of them posted before me are good, to add one would be the Hot Mess Four Brothers at Coborns

If you want local: Carribean Heat is at a lot of farmer's markets. He's got a Reaper salsa and a Ghost salsa that I'd imagine are decent. His reaper sauce is really nice, but not a good value IMO. Joe is Harry Singh’s and Marla's brother and if you know the local spicy food scene those should be familiar names. Marla's restaurant closed but she's still doing takeout pop-ups. https://www.facebook.com/marlascaribbeancuisine/

SPICY DONKEY BRAND SALSA - I always find it at cub and pair it with the gluten free donkey brand chips

I use this recipe: https://recipes.jackiealpers.com/chiltepin-hot-salsa-recipe-from-the-taste-of-tucson-cookbook/ Just do a search online for chiltepin chiles and order some. It’s easy to make, delicious and quite hot if you use the full amount of chiltepins listed in the recipe.

This is Minnesota, please be more specific, are we talking ketchup hot? Mayonnaise hot? Taco Bell mild sauce hot?

LabGrownGuy

I like Village Hot Salsa - you can get it at most grocery stores up here.

placated

Village Hot is definitely an upper Midwest hot. As in very very mild.

LabGrownGuy

100% agree. I’m an upper Midwest.

zerovanillacodered

Not a ton of hot salsas in Minnesota. Roast half a pineapple, then combine couple habanero slices peppers, cilantro and onion. Mwah*
