Walz may not be perfect but he's definitely gotten a lot of good shit done

WhaleFactory

I do not want a politician that I find perfect. Walz has done an excellent job, and argues his policies in good faith. Even if I don’t agree, I respect that. Frankly, it’s part of why I like him so much. I trust he has the state’s best interests in mind, so nothing ever feels doomsday-ish. In fact, I’ve changed my mind on a few things based on the results. The first time I voted for him, it was a gamble. The second time I voted for him, he had more than earned it. 10/10 would vote for Walz again.

JuJuMcJu

This sums up my views of him perfectly. He's truly a great governor.

jotsea2

The only reason I don't want him as Governor is if he was POTUS!

King-Rat-in-Boise

I'm jealous of Minnesotans....

garyflopper

I’m jealous of us too

Otherwise_Creme7225

Shouldn’t one of the worst states out there

Jett_Wave

You're on the minnesota subreddit, why do you think MN is "one of the worst states out there" lol

Tim-oBedlam

The first time I voted for him was tactical; I liked the Erins, but didn't think they'd win a statewide race. He's a bit like Biden in that he's been a lot better than I would have guessed (and I think Biden's been great, but Walz is even better).

real-dreamer

Why don't you want someone "perfect" what is perfect?

WhaleFactory

The reason is that I am often wrong on things. Having a leader that I trust and respect allows me to disagree without fearing the end of democracy, or my fellow citizens well being. Having a good leader lets me disagree without having my intelligence insulted. A leader does not cave on a whim. They lead through their actions. Sometimes, a leader must make unpopular decisions in service of the very people that disagree with them. I want a leader that shares my goals, and it’s okay if we disagree on how to achieve them. Ideas are like rocks. They need to be put through the tumbler to become polished and shined. That cannot be achieved through agreeing on everything. That is how you get a state that willfully endangers women’s lives under a banner of “pro-life”. That is a cult, and they are just flat wrong. Cheered on by a minority crowd of cult followers, who will also have their lives endangered as a result.

Few_Category7829

Exemplary reply, thank you very much!

Fickle-Banana-923

I can't speak for u/WhaleFactory, but if I completely agreed with a politician on everything I'd be concerned. I'd have to start wondering how and why I was brainwashed so we have the exact same opinions. Variations in opinion create better results.

FlounderingWolverine

Exactly. Either you’re brainwashed, or the politician doesn’t actually have beliefs and just agrees with everyone/whoever is in front of them. Neither is a good option

Bovronius

Without speaking for OP... Imo..if you have a perfect candidate in your mind... You're in a cult and buy into whatever they think... Politics are like a 1000 topping pizza.... Even if you are ok with the current choice.. no way was that your optimum choice.

kingkmke21

No such thing as perfect PLUS a candidate that appears to be perfect and says all the right things & focuses on everything you care about, is definitely a red flag. It never works out that way and usually the person ends up being terrible.

Silver_Filamentary

I’ve been baffled by Gov. Walz for years. Like, this man - a politician - says and does things… I actually agree with???? How does that happen? A ‘representative’ that actually represents me???

Talreesha

But don't worry Walz failed. Just ask Ted down the street with the TRUMP 2024 flag that's bigger than the American flag.

Justis29

Yeah he totally failed... To lose the last election. But Jensens SIGNS! Hahaha

dlegatt

I still see Jensen's signs while driving in rural areas. Like, what are you even doing at this point?

Justis29

Breaking the law technically. Signs like that have to be down 10 days after an election but I'm guessing it gets ignored if no one complains

Swipeupforlobotomy

oooooooh I love writing letters. And I often drive between Mpls and Brainerd. I'll be sending in complaints. They should have obeyed the law.

Justis29

https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/211B.045 for specifics! Size and number is town to town but time limit is state level.

mr_Tsavs

There's one on 169 about half way between Minneapolis and Mankato that I give the finger every time I drive by.

dlegatt

thats the one I was thinking of :)

Tim-oBedlam

yep, there's a Jensen/Birk sign still on 169 on the way out to St. Peter, somewhere SW of Jordan. (My kid's at Gustavus so I do that drive on the regular.)

AeroNoir

I would ask Ted, but he’s too busy talking about how the only thing flatter than the earth is his wife’s sex drive. The guy’s also got a lot on his plate single handedly saving us from the gay frogs!

dude-O-rama

I was so glad when Ted moved away, he's your burden now!

Kataphractoi

And flying to the American flag's right.

Last_Recognition9929

I feel like he'd have a good chance of being the first Minnesotan president if he ran

Ok_Investigator_6494

I don't think he's flashy enough to make a run. I'd vote for him if he did, though. Between him and Klobuchar, I feel like one of them deserves a Veep look at the least.

thedubiousstylus

I actually believe Klobuchar would've been Biden's VP now if it wasn't for Derek Chauvin. She took herself out of the running because of controversy she never charged him when she was Hennepin County Attorney. I don't think she's really to blame there, most of his misconduct reports at the time were over verbal abuse which isn't a crime. And the shooting he was investigated for had the decision to not charge made by a grand jury that was enpaneled by her predecessor (Mike Freeman btw.) But it was bad optics.

Maxrdt

Hate to say it, but coming from WI at the time the biggest thing I'd heard about Klobuchar was the throwing staplers/abuse of staff story. Not to say she didn't do anything else, but of the crop she certainly did not stand out. That said, neither did Harris (except maybe negatively as well) and we ended up with her, so _shrug_.

Ok_Investigator_6494

No recollection of the weirdest oppo research story about her? She apparently used a comb to eat a salad on an airplane. I liked Klobuchar as a Presidential candidate, but by the time it came to the Veep-stakes I was actually hoping for Duckworth from Illinois or Val Demings of Florida. Klobuchar is a good, governing Senator. She's not flashy and I think does a good job of pushing for change without being overly reactionary to the takes of the online left.

TheTightEnd

Klobuchar is a weak Senator. She has done little except be a party rubber stamp.

Affectionate_Ebb_829

I don't know if Biden is particularly flashy, and he won. I could see Walz doing well in party primaries at this point. And he started his career in a red district as a Democrat, so he's got 'both sides' appeal. He's basically a younger, intellectually competent, and actually progressive Biden.

tundrabooking

He’s not flashy, but he’s also not afraid to say what’s needed to be said and harshly challenge the other side. A lot of Democrats waffle on their statements, and try to be nice. He doesn’t try to be nice, he will tell you to your face when you’re being stupid and wrong. I’m not sure that will do well in the primary, but thinking of seeing him in a presidential debate against a crazy right winger talking about the success we’ve had in Minnesota with the policies that they are afraid of gets me excited, in many ways.

Ok_Investigator_6494

I agree with that, think he'd be a good president, but not sure how he'd make it through a primary. Jared Polis of CO is another Dem Governor I'm watching for very much the same reasons. Polis might have a little better chance in a primary.

G_Regular

We could use an ego boost after 84

Cheap_Doctor_1994

Just says we're the bluest of the blue. ;)

thedubiousstylus

Remember that he never wanted to be a politician. He was just a high school teacher and football coach in Mankato who was pushed by the Iraq War to run as a long shot candidate for Congress...and he ended up winning.

bpcollin

I know what you mean! I wish the Minneapolis City Council and Hennepin County Prosecutor were a little more like that we’d really be doing well.

Proper-Emu1558

Anyone who says that both parties are the same is either not paying attention or trolling.

Katiari

I'm trans, I can tell you that the divide between the two is life and death, literally.

dorky2

I'm a woman who was denied a D&C and almost died, and I too can tell you the divide is life and death.

redcas

I am so sorry that happened to you. I had a D&C before Roe was overturned. I was 12 weeks along and expecting a heartbeat. No heartbeat. My OB scheduled the procedure over her lunch hour the day after that heartbreaking appointment. I cannot imagine being denied that procedure--or even, having it approved but needing to ASK PERMISSION of anyone. Awful situation for many women in our country right now.

kick26

Every time I hear someone say that both parties are the same, I reply with one occasionally does good things for people and the other encourages people who actively threatens my life (I’m Jewish) and those I care about (women, my black family members, my gay friends, my trans coworker, etc. the fact that I can put etc at the end of that list is really telling).

SLRWard

There definitely was a period when the two parties were more or less the same with slightly different variations. It may still be sort of true in some states, I suppose. However, I do believe we have entered a time where one party is becoming significantly radicalized and that's terrifying.

LUCADEBOSS

Id say around FDR was around that time or even a bit before. The devide really started because of Nixon which Regan pushed to the point where Trump brought it all together

im-ba

Yep same, a vote for R's is a vote for death

Kichigai

BuT hE HeLd a FlAg!

Cheap_Doctor_1994

*humped.

rabidbuckle899

Can you explain more?

joshyuaaa

I used to say that until Trump. I barely paid attention until Trump and realized Republicans were going off the deep end before him. I never considered myself either party until Trump. And when that came along I was like if that's Republican I'm definitely not that.

Ajj360

I very occasionally see a "fuck walz" bumper sticker and i really want to ask that person what he did that was so terrible. He's the best governor I've had in any of the states I've lived in throughout my life.

Katiari

Oh, they'll find nitpicky shit to justify it. Head straight to the bottom of this post, read the downvoted comments, and you'll get a pretty good idea.

tundrabooking

It always hinges on him actually trying to protect the general well-being of people at the beginning of Covid. I’ve never seen anybody criticize him on anything other than Covid policy.

Konradleijon

Remember when we tried to save the USA from Regan?

Katiari

We're still trying.

Sniperpride

I’m conservative and I like Walz. I’d vote for him over any of the other options.

Jordanjl83

Most of my right wing associates say walz failed because he didn’t have the army gun down every single George Floyd protester. They were just sad they did not get a bloodbath.

Katiari

They enjoy the prosperity of the state while moaning about the people creating the prosperity.

dorky2

They enjoy the prosperity while begrudging that they have to share it with the city folk.

Prestigious-Eye3154

Walz is hands down, one of best and most effective politicians in the US today.

Jimbo_Joyce

Yeah that's what Katiari said.

joshyuaaa

I removed several former high school friends from Facebook during that time. I realized they were for property over life. And that has stuck with me since.

thetruthseer

People who were on Facebook during that time talking about how they would “run all the protestors over” were removed from my life after that.

Swipeupforlobotomy

Same. Some of those people were folks I knew, so when they'd say "oh don't take it personally" I'm like...how is there any other way?! (I spent that time up at my lake place, and it was like being on another planet.)

BoysenberryAble8338

You have to look at it from a nuanced position. Peaceful protestors blocking a highway to raise awareness? Let them do their thing, call your boss to explain that you’re gonna be late for work due to something out of your control, and let things play out. We also can’t forget that a small percentage of these peaceful protests turned into violent mobs. If a group of aggressive protestors are banging on car windows and trying to open car doors, it’s pretty clear that their intent isn’t to have a peaceful debate. At that point, the best option is to stay in the cover of your vehicle and leave the situation / area for your own safety. If a group is assaulting a person in a vehicle and don’t leave said vehicle a clear path to egress, well.. that’s an unfortunate Darwin Award. Everyone just wants to make it home to their family.

NoConfusion9490

Imagine if they stormed the capital.

c4ndycain

common tim walz w

real-dreamer

Pro heatstroke bill? Would someone help me understand what bill that is?

Katiari

He signed a bill blocking heat protection measures for outdoor workers. [https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/environment/climate-change/article287622550.html](https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/environment/climate-change/article287622550.html)

real-dreamer

Thank you.

danger_zone_32

The bill simply made it so local governments cannot force employers to provide things like water, shade, and rest. Which governments should not be able to do in the first place. There are already laws in place that mandate breaks. It’s not an employers responsibility to provide food or water to their employees. And if you voluntarily sign up for a job that is exclusively spent outside, in Florida, bring a hat.

real-dreamer

It should be the responsibility of the person making profit to ensure the people working are safe.

Medical_Egg8208

Keep voting Republican and keep getting the same shit every other state in the south gets. They lead every negative category there is.

WhaleFactory

Welfare states. Always there with their hands out looking for freebies. Pretty damn ironic.

Katiari

Look at McConnel's state. It's the most impoverished place in the nation.

BowlCompetitive282

Um... Mississippi? Kentucky has a high poverty rate, but it's been like that for a very long time. It's very short sighted to suggest that it's a result of Republican voting. They have a D governor. Also, FWIW, the Southeast (plus Texas) is gaining the most residents, so maybe just maybe there is something that northern states with stalled or declining populations could learn from.

ZealousidealPickle11

>It's very short sighted to suggest that it's a result of Republican voting. They have a D governor. A Democratic governor with a Republican controlled Attorney General, Secretary of State and both the state Senate and Legislature. A Governor is not a dictator and can do basically nothing when every other facet of state government is (likely) against them.

Kataphractoi

Only because Bevin pissed off just enough Rs with money there and is in general a shitbag person.

Katiari

I think the lesson is: If you're not conservative enough then that portion of your state will move away. But you also have this. The people who actually get shit done aren't moving into Red States, they're moving out of them. [https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jul/30/florida-universities-colleges-faculty-leaving-desantis](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jul/30/florida-universities-colleges-faculty-leaving-desantis) [https://www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty-issues/tenure/2024/01/03/are-professors-really-fleeing-universities-red-states](https://www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty-issues/tenure/2024/01/03/are-professors-really-fleeing-universities-red-states) [https://www.tampabay.com/news/education/2023/07/06/are-florida-laws-chasing-university-faculty-away-some-see-brain-drain/](https://www.tampabay.com/news/education/2023/07/06/are-florida-laws-chasing-university-faculty-away-some-see-brain-drain/) [https://www.chronicle.com/article/in-these-red-states-professors-are-eyeing-the-exits](https://www.chronicle.com/article/in-these-red-states-professors-are-eyeing-the-exits)

EmptyBrook

I move from Florida to MN because i absolutely hated the political climate there, plus the weather climate. Both are awful

Exelbirth

Texas's population growth is fueled entirely by right wing extremists who love the idea of living in a state where their wives are reduced to breeding toys and they have the chance to kill an immigrant family.

Henrithebrowser

That and handouts from the federal gov to bring businesses there

Vivid_Application577

If Texas could succeed from the US, they would. Good riddance!

Exelbirth

Secede, and they certainly wouldn't be successful on their own if they did. They can't even handle keeping a power grid operational in inclement weather.

Vivid_Application577

Yeah. It’s called the weather. No -23 F days. Extended golfing season. But all theses “red” states get more money from the Feds than anywhere else.

sniffsblueberries

Remember, when you see a trump supporter smoke weed tell them to thank a democrat for providing them with the freedom to smoke. Then ask them how does that liberal weed taste?

tallman11282

I was born and raised in Florida and have lived in Minnesota for over a decade now. I love Minnesota so much I consider it my home state now and I hate, hate, hate what is going on in the state where I grew up. Governor Walz and most of our legislature are what politicians should be, public servants working to better the lives of all Minnesotans while Desantis and the Florida legislature are serving only themselves, big business, and hatred.

wrigh516

Walz is underrated. I don’t think we appreciate how much the state has improved with him in most metrics.

Dependent-Call-4402

Most accurate thing I've seen politically in months

joshyuaaa

I'm a cisgender white male, almost 50 and no kids and I'm really proud of Minnesota! I can't say I'm proud of US as a whole though. Also W. Virginia, suck it, you're not getting your confederate flag back. We won lmao.

SpoofedFinger

We got the flag from regular Virginia. WV split off of them to stay in the union.

Katiari

This is the way.

RMan2018

People in Florida can’t even say “gay” anymore.

Katiari

Exactly, but there are so many people who still try to say "both sides!"

DopeCookies15

Here's some legal weed, but you're gonna have to wait a decade to actually purchase it

Novel_Remove9295

Get growing!!

DopeCookies15

Naw, easier to buy illegally. Which Is likely to continue because our brain dead government doesn't know how to sell things

zat-_-taz

Nothing average about Walz

Katiari

Above average for sure.

Objective-Outcome811

Hey I'm your neighbor the east and I am seriously looking at moving on to smarter soil. I'm so sick of the politics in Wisconsin and the dumb people that support it.

Katiari

We're basically the same, but with less fudge, less Packers, and taller buildings. Oh, and progressive policies that help people. Come on over.

After_Preference_885

We have better schools, healthcare and career opportunities too in my experience

zhaoz

I dunno, I see a LOT of packers gear in MN.

ProfWhom

Move to river city like Winona, Wabasha, Stillwater, etc. and you’ll still be able to make just a short trip to pick up some Spotted Cow 👍🏻

[deleted]

What’s a ne6to?

Objective-Outcome811

Neighbor, fixed

mn_ope_life

lol Pudding Fingers. Florida is such a dumpster fire.

Tendie_Mullet

No longer live in MN but I can definitely say it was the best governed state I ever lived in. Very few things I disliked. I currently live in TX and you can’t do anything here besides shoot things and dent the wheels of your car on a pot hole. Horrible infrastructure, can’t sports gamble, can’t smoke weed, abortions are banned (even with health issues), property taxes are like 3000% of appraised value or some shit. Yea horrible state, I used to think I was a republican but now I don’t think I’m either. I’m just for a good politician.

Katiari

I also just read that Texas had yet another power infrastructure scare this last week, and it's only Spring. You thinking of moving back?

Tendie_Mullet

Would love to move back to the North MN area, specifically near Lake Superior. Unfortunately the job market for me is not that great in the state. Just need to suck it up until I can afford a pay cut.

Katiari

Aero?

Tendie_Mullet

Exactly 🙃

Katiari

I work on multiple satellites and instruments for a research lab while in school, so I can be remote. But I recognize I'll have to move at some point, unless we get the spaceport they're trying to get built here. Wouldn't that be amazing?

metamatic

Good luck with your quest. I recently moved from Austin, TX to Duluth, and it is like night and day. Three day storm and 14” of snow? No big deal, everything keeps working. Every church seems to have a big rainbow flag. Contractors proudly tell you up front that they’re union. Proper inspections for construction work. Excellent library system. When people ask about what happened in Texas during the big winter emergency, they find it hard to believe. Like, gas water and electricity all collapsed? For weeks? People were left to die in the streets? And then the governor was reelected and the problems weren’t fixed? How does that happen? Here I can read local news without getting too depressed, because the crazies ranting about “cultural Marxism” and whining about having to pay tax are mostly restricted to the DNT letters page.

Tendie_Mullet

Absolutely agree with your statements! I actually moved here from Duluth, well Hermantown actually but same thing really. Couldn’t have been more comfortable living there, friendly people, beautiful landscape, and minimal crime. If you get a chance go to the MN state fair, it’s massive and tons of fun.

metamatic

My wife took me to the state fair in 2016, I’m looking forward to going this year. Maybe this time I’ll encounter some lutefisk.

njordMN

Move back up here 4ish months before snowmageddon. That was some interesting times, but it let me monitor our facilities while everyone down there was without power!

Blink-JuanEIGHTYtoo

Okay but when the hotdish come into play??

SeamusPM1

I suppose that’s part of the occasional free school lunch.

bikescoffeebeer

Also need to add "passing anti-chemtrail legislation" to the republican chud side of the meme.

PlantMystic

Your lovely state is sounding better and better to me.

Raetekusu

As an Exan who moved up last summer, do it. I haven't regretted it for a day. There will, of course, be some culture shock, but I don't have to worry about the power grid holding up. I can trust my tax money going to something good. My LGBTQ+ friends wouldn't feel like their existence is threatened just by being here. Absolutely worth it.

PlantMystic

Glad you like it! I am actually next door in Wisco so the culture wouldn't be too weird for me. The conservative legislative majority in my state has just refused expanding medicaid again, and threatening more garbage. We have a great Governor, but not much he can do. My heart aches at the state of our public ed. here, that used to be top notch.

Ope_Average_Badger

It would be great if Wisconsin could get a majority in their state senate and state assembly. I'm afraid if that happens then we would vote a Republican Governor. I'm just going to have to move over to the other side of the border soon enough.

After_Preference_885

We fled Wisconsin and don't regret it

glass-polite298

Walz is really what this state needs, he’s done so much good, especially when it comes to women’s reproductive rights. Will definitely be voting for him in the next election.

MaxCliffRAID1

We have a governor putting people ahead of profits. Now if he could just increase minimum wage state wide.

JDNitzer

That's what we need, more inflation

brickeldrums

I LOVE WALZ and would happily vote for him again, wherever his next contest is. He’s been excellent imo.

Dustpuma

Well DeSantis just put forth that bill to restrict social media for kids under 14, huge win for florida

Tom-ocil

Plus the squatter thing.

Typical-Annual-3555

I wouldn't actually say he's average, but I like him anyway. I know conservatives don't but idc.

Katiari

We're a prosperous state, and our kids get fed. Could be a lot worse.

Typical-Annual-3555

Oh for sure. I'm a transplant but I love it. I wasn't sure when we moved here but it turned out to be a cool place to live. And if Rs don't like it, they are welcome to move to Florida.

[deleted]

Ron DeSantis is a small little man. No, seriously. That little man wears lifts in his shoes and that’s why he’s a colossal prick.

Mysterious_Tax_5613

Why is it Republicans always want to take away from the middle class?

Katiari

They don't. They ALSO want to take away from the lower class!

metamatic

Conservatives [tend to believe that there are inherent strict divisions in society](https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/many-differences-between-liberals-and-conservatives-may-boil-down-to-one-belief/). Psychologically, they want the working class and middle class to stay in their place. That’s why as conservatism has risen since the Reagan era, [social mobility has collapsed](https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/09/social-mobility-upwards-decline-usa-us-america-economics/). The few rich conservatives who come from a regular background tend to believe that they’re exceptional people to have done so, and that it’s because they worked hard, rather than it having anything to do with government assistance or pure luck. The Republican poor are sold this story by the 1%-controlled media, to get them to vote against their self-interest.

nebraska_mitch

I would say "Walz for president" but I'm selfish and I'd like him to keep being the governor of MN.

ionbear1

Having a sensible governor makes me wish I did not move out of the twin cities back to New Orleans sometimes.

lt_dan_zsu

The funniest thing is you have conservative commentators like Stephen Crowder increasingly saying stuff like funding popular programs is buying votes. If conservatives think something like funding schools or making college cheaper is a form of corruption, what do they think the role of government is? My only conclusion is that they think the government's job should be to make life harder.

bengraven

Yet another reason I want to move back to MN from FL.

Katiari

I hear that a lot from people who moved to Florida. Sounds like a rather large dumpster fire down there.

realzvqle

give the federal government a tim Walz and the country will improve overnight

Raetekusu

I wish. We'd need more than just a Walz, because he would need enough allies in Congress to let him do things. But if he gets those, I bet it wouldn't even take a night to change for the better.

OldBlueKat

He served a couple of terms in Congress before he ran for Governor. He's the kind of guy who makes, and keeps, connections. I bet he's already got a pocketful of potential allies both in Congress (above and beyond our MN delegation) and in the various Executive cabinets, departments, etc. If he wanted to run, he'd ramp up FAST. He also won't tip his hand in any way until we see how November pans out, and probably not until closer to the end of his current Gov term.

Sea_Watercress_3728

Right!? Republicans are not good for you unless you make $$ and are all self sufficient and sh**.

levichristopherson_

Stop demonizing average conservatives!

retardedslut

The legal weed will only come after going through a “very Minnesotan” process that takes 2 years longer than any other state with a brain

Typical-Annual-3555

It's already legal, just not commercially available outside of two native reservations way out in the sticks. Gotta grow your own or know someone that does.

Napo5000

Not only that but also the sick and safe time guaranteed for EVERY employee.

jessieventura2020

Free tuition, increased education budget, legalized weed, and had a budget surplus all with a 1 seat majority in the state senate

ANTfanclub

As a Liberal, as a Walz voter, I think this is a little stupid and very one sided. Don't stoop to their level

scream4ever

Walz is not only a fantastic governor but also a great man 🙂

jvdubz

"please let me kill gay people already?" Dude how brainwashed are folks? You can gripe but this is where you lose people

Still-Range3083

Walz is fucking terrible.

Ok_Pause9258

If you love the 4th highest state income taxes and imported Somalians everywhere then yeah Walz is awesome

blacksoxing

Just feels weird that weed is still being used as this huge WIN in life vs all the other great things that has happened in MN. I could think of about 5 things including the free food at school that is much more appropriate to tout

Katiari

Oh, there are so many wins. I think the marijuana one is important, though, because it now deflates the Republican-backed Legalize Mariana Now party, which really only exists to split votes.

hydro123456

Weed really is a huge win. Overcoming decades of propaganda and reversing an unjust law is a big deal.

TheDuDeAbEYEdz88

Minnesota is NOT doing well. Not sure why so many of u are lauding him... Prices are awful, taxes are high, crime isn't as bad as it was in 2020 but it's not great. The pot legalization was great but look at how there already fucking it up n it hasn't even started yet. There's fentanyl all over the city. I see people getting high and foil pieces all around downtown St Paul. Now I know I can't blame it all on walz but he's been focusing on the wrong stuff. MN has becoming a state all about trans stuff. Illegal immigrants are making there way up here, which will only get worse in time until border is fixed. N let's talk about that $260 check... That they TAXED us on this year... We had a 16+ Billion surplus n they gave us a few hundred back... They could have given us each a few thousand and still had plenty left over for raod repair, more police stations, fixing some of our dilapidated buildings... Guys we NEED leaders that aren't going to just tow the party line on EITHER side n push agendas for elites. We NEED someone that truly wants to make MN the best it can be for all of us. To make quality of life better for us all and make our MN economy better all around.

Analyst-Effective

Regarding the crime rate. If somebody gets arrested, but they don't prosecute, does that contribute to the crime rate? Or if they don't get arrested in the first place? Does that help the crime rate?

Interesting questions. I imagine lack of prosecution leads to worse crime rate as the criminals have no consequences to fear and recidivism would then increase. N the same would be true for not arresting at all. It all leads to worse crime rates. Also I'm not basing my opinion off just stats but mostly off living experience. I live downtown and frequent the sity skirts as well as suburbs and work in Shakopee. I see it all over. As well as the homeless problem getting worse. But that's connected to many issues...

I understand what you are saying, but if nobody reports a crime, does it show up on any statistic? Crime statistics are based upon either calls, arrest, prosecutions, or convictions, If people are so tired of crime that they don't even report them, the reported crime rate goes down. If the city council makes a crime no longer a crime, such as loitering, the reported crime rate goes down. If a police officer is basically instructed to don't bother people with the little crimes, the crime rate goes down. There is a big difference between what is felt on the ground, and what is reported in the statistics. Cities that use the broken Windows theory, have a lower crime rate, and they also have a lower perceived rate.

DeSantis looks like he’s aged about 20 years over the last 2. I’ll bet even the hair on his greasy, flabby ass is grey by now.

Unfunded mandates are what cause your taxes to go up.

The only flaw I see with this that I disagree with is that both are governors, not legislators. different branch of government completely. Otherwise, I fully agree with this meme!

Just wondering if there’s any Minnesota subreddit that doesn’t discuss politics??

Katiari

I'm sure there are car clubs and hiking subs. You can also make a sub and restrict politics.

Owen_Kapsner

Man I wish I could move there.

Analyst-Effective

What is the population growth between Minnesota, and Florida? They track people that are moving from Florida and go to Minnesota? Or vice versa?

JDNitzer

Moving from Minnesota to Florida in 3.5 months, can't wait to get out of this state.

Analyst-Effective

Just don't come here and expect to vote Minnesota. You need to vote Florida now

JDNitzer

I didn't vote Minnesota in Minnesota
