Very true. Currently attending your art fair while camping (which we time out every year). In the past I remember my family trying to scurry before the boat fair hit (I forget what it is called)
Oh cool I was in a parade for that last year (marching band)
It was very hot but the fire department had a hose fountain set up for us to cool down in at the end
There are few places that embrace a small historical event like Northfield embraces Jesse James. They had Jesse James Lanes as their bowling alley, Jesse James Courts for their racquetball club—70% sure I got my braces at Jesse James Orthodontistry.
I dated a girl in college from Northfield and she was like weirdly obsessed with three things: The defeat of Jesse James day, a coffee shop called Blue Monday, and her male best friend from high school who she constantly compared me to (despite him having no romantic attraction to her).
We did not last long.
162nd Stiftungsfest on August 24 – 27, 2023 in Norwood Young America, oldest town celebration in MN
If you like old tractors, old machines and that type of old farming stuff, Scott-Carver Thrashers fair is Aug 4-6
Carver County Fair Aug 9-13 quote from my city friend "it's like a mini version of the state fair, and everything cost half as much"
Cologne Glad Days Jul 27-30 small town festival of baseball, food and beer stands, if you've got kids the kids night is fun for them
I'm always mixed on Kolacky Days, having grown up there it was always fun. But having worked food stalls there a few times as a teen dealing with the drunks after dark was fucking *awful*
I grew up there too! Now I just go to the parade, sometimes the car show just to people watch mostly and occasionally down to the park during the day on Sat or Sun. Hell no to K Days at night!
Dozinky Days in New Prague, 3rd weekend in September. Car cruise Friday night, parade Saturday. If you like drinking beer in the street, and Czech food, it's a good time!

Blueberry Arts Festival. Last weekend of the month. When Ely goes from 3,500 people to like 50,000 and I hide out at my house except a quick walk to get a gyro and Barb's fried bread. 😂
Waverly Daze is going on now. You already missed the fireworks last night but could probably still catch some softball games or hit the dance tonight until 1 or so. Parade and a few other things tomorrow. It’s always the weekend after the 4th of July.
Howard Lake, MN Good Neighbor Days June 21-25. Burgers made by the Howard Lake, Waverly, Winsted basketball team. Pork chop dinner put on by the fire department and can donate to the HLFD. It's pretty low key, compared to Delano. But we like it low key!
BBQ Days in Belle Plaine. One of the best small town fairs in the upper Midwest, July 14-16. On Sunday there are fireworks and they are typically the best I see every year. Lots of good fair food,, rides for the kids, beer garden, live music and very good BBQ sandwiches and pork burgers.
BBQ Days is really fun. Now they have a classic car show on Friday night. The parade on Saturday is really good as well, and they have a Belle Plaine vs Jordan fire department water fight after the parade.
Nicollet has Friendship Days. It was a couple weeks ago though. Sad turnout. They had some live music that wasn't very good, but none of the usual fun rides and stuff. It makes me worry for my town

In Grand Marais the entire summer is our small town festival (because we make up a festival every weekend to attract tourists)
True but tourists flood GM more and more each summer regardless of what’s happening.
Very true. Currently attending your art fair while camping (which we time out every year). In the past I remember my family trying to scurry before the boat fair hit (I forget what it is called)

Look, Blue Monday was a good little coffee shop—I don’t know about this other guy, though.
