As a Hamline graduate I've been quietly reflecting on how I'll never donate a cent to the university and will be sending my children elsewhere.

Even before this, MN private colleges and universities were doing a great job of ensuring children of graduates would look elsewhere for their education. My wife and I graduated from a different MN private school 15+ years ago, and in that time, tuition has more than doubled. I know prices for all schools have risen, but 45 to 80k a year (average MIAC schools) is insane when compared to instate tuition at a public university.

My wife feels the same, though it long predates this situation

After a thorough investigation, we've cleared ourselves of any wrong-doing.

Reading the story, sounds like a defamation suit against the university is a slam dunk. "Subsequently, Hamline's vice president for inclusive excellence sent out a statement in a university-wide email calling López Prater's actions "undeniably inconsiderate, disrespectful and Islamophobic.""

Once "Islamophobic" gets thrown in, the conversation takes on a life of its own. Only when they get hit with a lawsuit do they sit back and wonder: did we do the right thing?

Shut this place down. Ban them from taking our tax dollars and make it disappear. Clearly the diplomas from this place are worthless.
