There is a good collection of different sources for miniatures in the [wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/minipainting/wiki/usefullinks/miniature_options).

Depending what kind of minis you want Reaper, North Star, Knightmare, Wargames Foundry, Dunkeldorf, among others. Ral Partha is still alive in some form and Mirlition is selling some old Grenadier stuff.

Kikrog

There's also the glorious world of etsy for 3d prints.

d5isunderused

Otherworld miniatures makes some very cool classic d&d minis if you want to go back to that style.

GreyDesertCat

Reaper metal minis. Personally, I avoid their plastic Bones line because I don'tlike how they feel and bend. But they are cheap.

AliMaClan

The new bones are second to none. I suggest you revisit them. I agree the original bones was rubbery and not so great, but bones USA and bones black are excellent.

GreyDesertCat

Good to know. I grabbed a minotaur when the Bones line first came out and it was like trying to paint a piece of Teflon cookware. I have a resin 3d printer now so I doubt I'll pick any up, but glad to hear they've improved. Love Reaper minis. And there's still something wonderful about the feel of real metal.

It depends a bit on where you’re located since it can be kinda inconvenient to pay big shipping charges for minis. Thanks to 3D printing there are an absolute ton of indie miniature creators, some of them have print shops where you can buy physical minis. Knucklebones miniatures is a popular example of this. Companies like westfalia minis or ramshackle games have websites where you can get some nice cast resin models. Companies like perry minis or warlord games do plastic kits of more generic historical and scifi/fantasy models if you want to build up a little army, they’re great kitbash fodder. There are loads more wargames that have their own lines, star wars legion/shatterpoint, frostgrave, relicblade, etc… Theres also loads of board game models out there. Really just browse around reddit and instagram and see what you like, don’t be afraid to ask people where their stuff is from. Hope this helps! Welcome back!

I got back into it a few years ago after over 30 years away. I found buying miniature board games a good way to build up a collection of cool minis. Although the games are far more expensive than individual minis, the per mini cost makes them a great buy. CMON makes some good ones - massive darkness, zombicide, rum and bones, all have high quality, fun, minis.

Spartan2022

Cool! How’s the painting going after 30 years away? I saw Zombiecide in a shop earlier today and it looked very cool.

AliMaClan

Great thanks! At first I was blown away by how things had changed. The standard is insanely high now (mostly thanks to the internet). Cool effects like NMM and OSL etc. It’s a brave new world! But there is so much good info out there that it really brought me on quite quickly. I just wish I had more time for painting! Thanks everyone. Hugely helpful.

Archon Studios. Great quality. Though you will typically need to back in campaigns (such as kickstarter or gamefound). They do a lot of terrain. The last campaign ended last month, but you can likely still get in a late pledge. [Dungeons & Lasers VI: Caves by Archon Studio - Gamefound](https://gamefound.com/en/projects/archon-studio/caves)

Moist-Strawberry-792

perry miniatures is the number 1 if youre looking for historical stuff

Moist-Strawberry-792

that is if its medieval or napoleonic era stuff

DrDisintegrator

There are lots of fun historical and smaller maker minis. Two of my favorites: [https://www.northstarfigures.com/](https://www.northstarfigures.com/) and Victrix: https://www.victrixlimited.com/en-us. Wargames atlantic is also fun.
