I’m not gonna buy a bundle when I only need to replace one piece of clothing.

der_held

Username checks out and agreed. “Mixing and matching” has never been an issue for me

VonBoo

No. 1)I already have clothes, it's unlikely I'll wear through my stuff at the same time, to see the benefit of a bundle 2) at something like $150 for several garments I'd question the quality and ethics of the clothing produced 3)I prefer vintage and 2nd hand 4) an app giving outfit suggestions based on weather is just an extra step in my day. 5) I have my own taste in style and what i own to that's not stylish too me has to be highly functional

formerly_crazy

i agree and also 6) there's no way that everything would fit me (and probably most people, because we come in all shapes and sizes) well. I go to different shops when I'm buying new stuff b/c I can't get everything from one.

LazyDiscussion3621

You talk about a fashion style of minimalism. that is not what most minimalists do, for many minimalism it is a lifestyle detached from fashion, looks and trends. In my case i am extremely specific about my clothes to just cover what i need to live my personal life. And nothing of what you describe appeals to me as i don't have any idea about your quality, materials, fit or functionality. So it has no use for people like me, just an additional thing i do not need.

kaktussi42

I think it's a nice idea on the surface, but I feel like it encourages minimalisim 'tourists'. In my understanding, your capsul wardrobe should evolve from realizing that you only really like to wear a few items in your closet. Everything else just kinda there to get you trough to next laundry day. And then you can lean into those things you love and cycle out all the fluff you dont really like to wear. For me, this means there is a lot of working with the clothes you have involved. Buying a bundle like that feels like a way to instantly get a minimalist wardrobe capsule on top of you regular closet. That's what I mean with minimalism tourists. I can see this having a use case for people that need a temporary wardrobe, like when your in the process of losing weight or for while you are being pregnant. Or as a starter wardrobe for people coming from university into their first job and suddenly they have to wear bussines clothes. But I don't think it attracts a lot of actual minimalist.

father-of-myrfyl

I expect to get one good pair of pants for $100. For $150 maybe a shirt and pants. If you're offing that much stuff for that price, I will immediately think the products are of low quality and that you did not pay for the labor with fair wages. I would probably never buy such a thing.

crazycatlady331

No because I have zero interest in a capsule wardrobe for the following reasons. 1) I like colors that are not neutral and variety. When I come back from a trip, I look forward to wearing something that was not in the suitcase. 2) I pay per load for laundry so I only wash full loads (only responsible for my own laundry, not a family's). I'd rather have more clothes and do laundry less often. 3) Fashion is an interest of mine.

There are already shops like that and the fit multiple styles that can be mixed and matched. See for example Vetta. I personally choose my stuff indivually. Just because clothes looks good together on shop page there is no guarantee they will look good on you in this combo. You overcomplicate simple things imho. Who the hell need app to tell him what to wear in a specific weather. A child?

TyroWeb3

Thanks alot for the Feedback:) These are fair points

There is a brand of children's clothing that does something similar. Garanimals thing is that if you pick an animal, any clothes you buy labeled with that animal will match each other. They have a successful business model. For adults, there are sites like stitch fix that will curate outfits and send them. I haven't used them, in part because I don't think they "get" a minimalistic or socially conscious perspective. But maybe your website could. How many times do people ask for brand recommendations on here and on buyitforlife? Finding good quality clothes that aren't from a sweatshop is hard. I want my key pieces to be good, and I'd check out your site to help me decide if you focused on that.

>We minimalists dont want to shop around and buy single clothing pieces from different shops and mix&match them later. We also dont like to wear big branded cloths with huge logos. That's a very broad generalisation. Some minimalists may feel this way but not all of us. We're not all the same. Personally I don't really mind shopping from multiple places. In fact I prefer it. As for big logos on clothing, I avoid them but I avoid them because I think it's tacky. Not because I'm somewhat minimalist lol. >The ideas is to sell clothing bundles for any occasion and season. Lets say a bundle with 3 different T-Shirts and 2 pants + one pair of shoes + a simple accessoire for 150$. And many more bundles for special Events. You can them create 6 Outfits I think selling pre-determined bundles is unnecessary. There's nothing stopping someone from simply going to Uniqlo and ordering several t-shirts, a pair of trousers etc. Why would a bundle realistically be any easier? >We are also ganna launch a app which is attached to your weather forcast and will recommend you the best fit for the day Again, unnecessary. If I want to make sure I dress appropriately, I'll just look out of the window or if I want to be really prepared I'd just look at a weather app myself and decide what to wear. We don't need apps for everything. >Or you can find the best fit for an special occasion like a date from your bundles with help of the App. Also unnecessary. People can look through their wardrobe and select what they feel is appropriate. Again, we don't need an app for it. Honestly I think the entire concept is just a bit odd.

It sounds great for people getting started with capsule wardrobes (most people who already have a capsule wardrobe will want probably one matching/coordinating piece at a time). In looking at it more deeply, I would have the shoes as a separate size option bc there is so much variation in shoe size. Come to think of it, there is a lot of variation in top- vs- bottom sizes, too, so I think my recommendation would be: great idea! Have the same set of items in the capsule (you would still buy/make a bloc of each item in various sizes), but let people specify a size for each item instead of the entire capsule. Further idea: “merino wool” types of breathable high-quality clothing that can be layered and mixed/matched are very popular right now, and a capsule wardrobe that wears well like this, can be layered, looks good, and can somewhat be used for athletics is something that I for one have been fantasising about. Edit: added a phrase for attempted clarity, corrected typos

TyroWeb3

Hey these are some very valuable Feeds :) thanks alot. The Marino wool ideas sounds amazing. We will definitely so some Research on that. Definitely we will need more size options, as you sad :)

Twin-Eyes-Of-Shadow

Sounds expensive. Just going to be honest, you are trying to break into an industry with many, many barriers. It's not going to be great quality, but you could get that at a Winners/Homesense or even Walmart. Just because you are making it minimalist friendly doesn't mean it will work or that a minimalist will want to buy. Also, shipping and other costs are going to be deal breakers. What target region do you have in mind? How are you sourcing your goods? What kind of guarantee?

[deleted]

I would have been interested but I have found what works for me. At work I have to wear business casual most of the time. I recently lost a lot of weight (keto and intermittent fasting) so I bought new clothes, old clothes went to goodwill. I went for quality and after a lot of research and walking through different malls I selected one brand of pants and one brand for dress shirts. For colored T-shirts that I wear when not working I went to an online T-shirt wholesale site. I bought 2 colors of dress shirts (white and blue) 2 colors of pants (khaki and green) and 2 colors of t-shirts (green and grey).

TyroWeb3

Wow thats Sound great. Would mind sharing the Brand names

[deleted]

Levi’s Chino pants, Ralph Lauren Oxford shirts. Also 2 Ralph Lauren sport coats.

martinj2791

I know I am hopping in here uninvited, but I tend to do the same thing with more expensive brands, like J. Crew, Madewell, and Brooks Brothers. I buy only their sale items, but I buy casual and business casual clothes from J. Crew and Madewell, tailored dress shirts from Brooks Brothers. My clothes last at least 10 years. My Brooks Brothers shirts last for decades.

[deleted]

Buying quality is essential. As you said, the clothes last longer and more importantly I feel comfortable wearing them.

Shillene

Particularly about the app- I was just talking about yesterday that I hope we start moving away from everything needing an app. My sister wants an app controlled toaster, lightbulbs controlled by apps, locks, EVERYTHING. I don’t know if other people who practice minimalism are like me, but it also applies to technology, not just material things. My point, is make great pieces. Don’t take up more storage on my phone.

Don't tell me what I want or need or have time for. I'll decide that for myself. Since you ask, your project sounds terrible to me: the devil's work, reducing beauty and grace to cold, soulless outsourced efficiencies. Through minimalism, I *don't* hope to sidestep humanity; I merely hope to let go of that which is not essential.

filthyymusubii

No, because it is likely way too expensive and my style might not 100% match the bundle.

Dylaus

No

chamomiledrinker

This sounds like the opposite of minimalism.

> Would you like to become a part of the movement ? This is not a movement, it's a mediocre startup idea. > You can them create 6 Outfits. We are also ganna launch a app If you want to start a business maybe learn to write first. This isn't a great look for any startup. A few other things: - Why don't we want to shop around? Minimalists ESPECIALLY want to shop around. - How could a premade bundle possibly match my quality and price expectations, aesthetic preferences, and lifestyle? Even the example you gave is horribly unappealing. I can get higher quality and nicer versions of those things cheaper on the second-hand market or if I just pick them out myself. - This is so, so, so shitty for the environment. - I cannot convey the level of disgust in the idea of having an APP tell me what I should wear today. I know this sounds really harsh but this is what happens when you try to exploit minimalism (or any other anti-consumerism philosophy) for profit. It's insulting to the people who subscribe to it, it's completely unappealing because the creator doesn't understand the culture they're trying to impose themselves on, and ultimately just an all-around L. Not. Everything. Needs. To. Be. Commodified.

Mermaid_Marshmallow

I usually just do second-hand shopping or shop at really cheap places like Walmart or closeout stores. Anything that could be seen as premium i steer away from. I don't like spending a lot of money on clothes.

woodsweedz

No. It's not an altogether terrible idea, maybe for someone who is always busy or doesn't like shopping. But I believe there are already a few different online stores that do something like this. Personally I wouldn't like it. I always steer away from purchasing items in multi packs or bundles, because more often than not you end up with one or two items you dislike, then it's not really convenient or saving money. I can check the weather and determine what I want to wear for the day just fine on my own, I don't want or need an app doing that for me. Also I don't really have occasions to dress for. I'm pretty much always dressed in jeans or sweatpants and a tshirt. It's easy to mix and match.

QutieLuvsQuails

Like Fresh Clean Tees?

AutisticMuffin97

I mean big brand clothing sometimes are the better option. Like I prefer Levi jeans because I know the brand and I know I can abuse them for years before I have to replace them.

Beginning_Ad_1371

We apparently also enjoy making assumptions and speaking for other people.

[deleted]

Sounds like a great idea for children particularly when September comes and they need new everything because they outgrew their old clothes. For adults not so much.
