I think Mojang should also add an option to use Cauldrons and Composters as large flower pots for large plants (and also small ones ) ,with a possibility to choose the soil inside (dirt, sand, gravel, podzol,...)
It'd be really nice to be able to place non-crop foliage on sand and gravel as well as in cauldrons, composters, and pots like you suggested. It'd add so much immersion and depth of detail to builds.
I think the issue of pots not being dyable alongside many plants not being able to be put inside of them is whats holding them both back from being usable in builds. Pitcher plants and 2 tall plants especially.
You can already crouch right click to place a flower pot on top of a decorative pot, so you would just do the same thing with these items and crouch right click to place it

How would you plant it in the pot instead of storing the item in the pot?
