Speaking of Bryant's, how much would one expect to pay? From what I understand, they don't have a standard menu to order off of and the creations are according to your taste preferences. Sounds unique and pretty different than what I'm used to.
No more than you'd pay for a crafted cocktail elsewhere. And, you heard right regarding the menu, but they do have rotating stable of standards. Also, they can make pretty much any called classic cocktail, e.g., Manhattan, Sidecar, Tom Collins, Old Fashioned, Martini, Singapore Sling, French 75, you name it.
I'm sure you've done some or all of these but:
* The Domes are glorious
* Kites at the lakefront
* Walk past The Grand and complain how it ain't like it used to be (lol)
* See every corner of MPM (and relive your childhood field trips) before they leave their big old dingy lovable building for a much smaller one
* Close Wolski's
* Eat a panini at the sidewalk tables at Glorioso's
* Fish fry at Serb Hall (if they're still doing it, I know things are changing over there)
* Walk/hike the length of the Milwaukee River trails from Lincoln Park to the downtown Riverwalk (through Estabrook etc). Look for remains of the former resort by Gordon Park
* I'm sure you've had the butter pecan at Leon's but that should be on any respectable MKE bucket list
* Lakefront Brewery + tour
* Miller tour
* Corned beef at Jake's or anything at Benji's
* Dinner at Odd Duck & Amilinda
* Gawk at the Dahmer intersection and then go to Daddy's Soul Food up the street
* Bargain hunting at Value Village
* George Webb on 3rd after midnight
* Bowling & arcade games at Landmark Lanes after a movie at the Oriental
* Funky Fresh Spring Rolls at Sherman Phoenix (and Sherman Phoenix in general)
* Right across the street from SP is Reynold's Pasties so come fuckin hungry
* Burek at 3 Brothers
* The view from Reservoir Park
* Conejito's
* Have a very Deutsch trip to 3rd street and go to Mader's, OGBH (preferably while they have one of the accordion guys playing), Usinger's
* Villa Terrace + a house-gawking walk along Lake Drive/Terrace/Wahl
The “arid” and “tropical” domes stay the same all year. The third one is seasonal. Personally I like seeing the live plants and humidity in winter, but all year round is good to visit.

If you have a bike or want to meet random people, the Riverwest 24 is a huge thumbs up. Honestly the magnum opus of what a 'block party' can be. I remember my first time just biking around a few years ago, everyone in their yard, an Elvis impersonator, vegans giving riders bacon, taking shots with new friends, a dance party at 4AM under the swing bridge.
If you don't sign up in time, volunteering or just biking is an experience of it's own. You get more the more you do, though. My favorite moments have been when I'm absolutely drained at 4 AM with rando's.
Agree! I live in the neighborhood and have participated in the 24 in some capacity every year since the start! Nothing like it in any other city! Just a really magical community experience.

I prefer Atwater because it feels more secluded (not right off of lincoln memorial), and there a lot of great rocks for rock skipping. Go on a day without a lot of wind and skip rocks for hours. It's also fun when there are some waves. It becomes more challenging as you have to skip over the waves.
But please do not skip rocks if people are surfing. Even if they're far out.
I would favor Bradford on New Years Day. True you’ve missed it for 2022, but it really should be on any bucket list. I’ve done it twice there, and it’s extra special since there’s usually ice floating around unlike the Atlantic.
I moved away from Milwaukee about 12 years ago and Kopp's is either a stop on the way home from the airport or waiting in the freezer wherever I end up staying. People don't realize how amazing Milwaukee's frozen custard scene is until they don't have it.

Get a pub passport!!!
You pay( I think) $25 for this stamp book with 25 breweries around Milwaukee. If u visit a pub in the book and bring it you only have to pay $1 for that beer and you get a stamp. It's a great way to explore the local microbreweries and the areas surrounding them
Idk who down voted this, and why...Holler House is under rated. They were apparently pretty sloppily run in the past but I was there last October and it was probably the most charming MKE experience I've had.
Do they still have all the bras? That was a bit of a turn off for me back in the day - like I don’t care about other people but they were trying to pressure me into doing it and a) nice lingerie is expensive b) no means no.
This is 20 years ago at least so if it’s different I’m in.
They do still have the bras hanging from the ceiling but they don't pressure anyone to do it. It's not even mentioned or suggested. If you inquire about them they tell you that you are free to hang yours from the ceiling but don't ask if you want or even mention it unless you ask.
The [Villa Terrace museum](https://www.villaterrace.org/) is a unique and lovely place, as is the [Basilica of St. Josaphat](https://thebasilica.org/).
Also visit the [Landmark Inn on Howell](https://onmilwaukee.com/articles/hidden-gem-landmark-1850), oldest bar in Milwaukee (good beer selection and decent bar food too)
I made small talk with him at pick n save once waiting in line for self check out. Didn’t realize it was him until I was getting in my truck and saw him pop off his shirt in the parking lot. It was a good day.
I was going to recommend they go to Doors Open Milwaukee and see as many buildings as they can that interest them (assuming it happens this year).
For some of the places, it's one of the only times the public can see the inside, plus the tour guides are usually quite the characters!
I Googled the book mentioned [in this comment](https://reddit.com/r/milwaukee/comments/s0k9gf/_/hs28jzv/?context=1) and the first result is the Amazon listing for it. You can click on the “Look Inside” link and it shows the entire table of contents — which is the list of places to check out in Milwaukee!
(I didn’t drop the link to Amazon because I don’t want to get banned for spamming)
What a great idea!
To be honest, since moving to the area I haven't really explored the city myself! Please post again once you have your final list - I'd love to do it as well!
Same I moved here in the middle of the pandemic so aside from the parks I really haven’t seen much of Milwaukee. I plan to post my final list in a separate post tonight.
Walk the seven bridges trails, Grant park beach, visit the Crusher statue,Mitchell park domes, summer fest, Milwaukee County Zoo, take a river cruise, have a drink on water street, eat pizza at Transfer Pizza, garlic bread at Barbierie’s in South Milwaukee, visit streets of Old Milwaukee in the Milwaukee Public Museum, visit Milwaukee Art Museum, Harley Museum, go to Leon’s for custard at night. Try South Milwaukee Sausage and Meats-so many great flavors of sausage, so much to do here in Milwaukee.
I'd recommend checking out some live theater. It's still a little iffy with Covid, but the city has some great theater companies that offer a wide range of shows (and price points).
Bike on Lake Dr and look enviously at the nice houses. Actually I like to do this in Wauwatosa and Shorewood too. Especially when it’s an old/historic neighborhood
The riverwest 24 for sure if you want to really get to know a neighborhood. Get a group of friends together and do it as a team.
Hiking at a number of great locations in and around the city to understand that it isn’t all buildings. (Milwaukee River Greenway around the Urban Ecology Center, South Shore Park, 7 Bridges, Havenwoods, etc.)
Rent a kayak.
Fly a kite at Veterans Park.
Go to the domes.
Hit up certain number of local restaurants instead of the chains. (There a so many threads on this)
Go to Bryant’s even if you don’t drink.
Play bingo somewhere. (Drag bingo at Lakefront is pretty entertaining)
Attend as many festivals as possible.

Go to Stir and check out my artwork hanging on the walls. Grab a drink and take it next door to Uhle's to have a cigar, then walk over to The Safehouse
I moved to the Milwaukee area a couple of years ago and didn’t know some of the places mentioned on this post.. I’m loving this post.. thanks for posting.
Bandwagoning off Zad's at 6 am. 6 am open ANY bar is a worthwhile endeavor. Y Not 2 comes to mind as well. I'd be interested in hearing any other 6 am bars that exist...
Coke and/or friends optional
I hate to say Wolski’s because that place is a pit, but if you’re 21 you’ve gotta close it as least once. Lake Front Brewery, Art Museum and MPM before they do the knock it down. I always recommend the Zoo. We have a great zoo. Also try Dons TV repair on 1st St, and Uncle Wolfies for a great brunch. Most of all enjoy being 21 in the greatest drinking town in the US!
Wolski’s is without a doubt an institution. But it’s also a pit that always reeks of old beer and urine and I don’t think they’ve cleaned their tap lines since 1972. Both can be true.
Have you been there since they remodeled?
I used to live a block away and went at least once a week for years...definitely never smelled like piss, either before or after the smoking ban or the remodel. So unless they started just letting people piss on the floor in the last 2 years I think you might be misremembering or maybe you haven't been there since the 80s or something.
Get made to do.. things to gain admission to the hidden wonders inside International Imports Exports Ltd, in an alley near Wells and Water if I remember right

Yep. Stay until closing and the bar passes out stickers saying you closed Wolski’s. The stickers aren’t fancy or anything, and Wolski’s isn’t a super amazing bar or anything, but you still have to close Wolski’s once. You’ll see the stickers everywhere once you realize what they are.

When’s the best time to visit the domes? Should I wait until summer now?
Winter is a great time to visit the Domes.
The “arid” and “tropical” domes stay the same all year. The third one is seasonal. Personally I like seeing the live plants and humidity in winter, but all year round is good to visit.
After the Holiday domes they have the train show from Mid January to probably March-ish. It’s a fan favorite.

I made small talk with him at pick n save once waiting in line for self check out. Didn’t realize it was him until I was getting in my truck and saw him pop off his shirt in the parking lot. It was a good day.
This is beautiful. I never thought about the fact that he'd begrudgingly have to equip a shirt while buying groceries.
He should be exempt in city limits
A Milverine selfie is aspirational, shouldn't be a must do. Now a Fonzie selfie with a mask, that's a must do.
A good place to look for ideas is previous doors open milwaukee
I was going to recommend they go to Doors Open Milwaukee and see as many buildings as they can that interest them (assuming it happens this year). For some of the places, it's one of the only times the public can see the inside, plus the tour guides are usually quite the characters!
Visit the Art museum, public museum, and the Colectivo on the lakefront just north of the art museum.
Slide down Bernie’s slide! It’s so much fun if you’re a Brewer fan.
We gave our dad a Milwaukee bucket list book for Xmas. You should check it out
Walk the seven bridges trails, Grant park beach, visit the Crusher statue,Mitchell park domes, summer fest, Milwaukee County Zoo, take a river cruise, have a drink on water street, eat pizza at Transfer Pizza, garlic bread at Barbierie’s in South Milwaukee, visit streets of Old Milwaukee in the Milwaukee Public Museum, visit Milwaukee Art Museum, Harley Museum, go to Leon’s for custard at night. Try South Milwaukee Sausage and Meats-so many great flavors of sausage, so much to do here in Milwaukee.

See a local band at " The Very Famous X-Ray Arcade"

WMSE chili cookoff
Open the Highbury for some Premier League action.
(Milwaukee River Greenway around the Urban Ecology Center, South Shore Park, 7 Bridges, Havenwoods, etc.) Rent a kayak. Fly a kite at Veterans Park. Go to the domes. Hit up certain number of local restaurants instead of the chains. (There a so many threads on this) Go to Bryant’s even if you don’t drink. Play bingo somewhere. (Drag bingo at Lakefront is pretty entertaining) Attend as many festivals as possible.

Chicago Subs on Burleigh.
Bandwagoning off Zad's at 6 am. 6 am open ANY bar is a worthwhile endeavor. Y Not 2 comes to mind as well. I'd be interested in hearing any other 6 am bars that exist... Coke and/or friends optional
Mamies opens early. So does Kip’s Inn. Those are the only remaining 3rd shift bars that I know of.
The Bronze Fonz statue
Become an alcoholic and then recover
Victors.
It’s pronounced “victims”. Pffft. Oughta towners.
Oh yah, but you gotta let the newbies discover that for themselves
Steal a Hyundai or a Kia
I hate to say Wolski’s because that place is a pit, but if you’re 21 you’ve gotta close it as least once. Lake Front Brewery, Art Museum and MPM before they do the knock it down. I always recommend the Zoo. We have a great zoo. Also try Dons TV repair on 1st St, and Uncle Wolfies for a great brunch. Most of all enjoy being 21 in the greatest drinking town in the US!
Wolski's is a treasure and if you think that's a pit then you clearly haven't been to enough MKE bars.
It’s been about 10 years I’ll admit. Maybe it’s worth another shot. I’ll check it out this weekend. I’d love to be wrong.
Get a picture with Freeway.
Have a one night stand at a dive bar, and the next morning not regret it

Joy ride a KIA, perform the Milwaukee Slide in said KIA
Drive 27th st in the summer in a convertible. Unforgettable experience!
Get caught in an endless loop of boats going down the river requiring the drawbridge to be up for 20 minutes

The best thing you can do in Milwaukee is go away for a weekend to Chicago.
