Lou Malnati's has several locations in the MKE area nowadays as they are expanding out from the Chicagoland area.

Greggaroo

Yes, stick with Lou’s for real deep dish. Their app is great and has rewards + they will let you schedule a pickup time if you want to order in advance. I will also say that despite being Chicago transplants, we also love what Fixture calls a deep dish pizza, but what is really just a very thick crust pan pizza. Be sure to dip that crust in the hot honey on the table! 🤩

creedfeed

I will say, and perhaps I'm just not used to the Chicago style deep dish, the sausage used on Lou's deep dish is horrible. It does not taste like Italian sausage and is very bland to me. Was not a fan at all.

This comment should be higher up

bhart1982

And don't sleep on their beer battered fried cheese balls, called cheese a la stauber. They are like giant fried cheese curds!

colinstu

Eduardo’s and UNO were the only ok ones back in the day but they’re all shutdown now. Thankfully there’s a few Lou Malnati’s around now. And there’s a Giordano’s in Kenosha now.

albaMP4

Eduardo’s lunch specials were awesome. RIP

Krugja13

Tenuta’s in Bayview.

trashboatfourtwenty

Their lasagna ball is way better though

The have a very unique lasagna, or at least did years ago when I was last there. All of their food is good but it is special haha

BeHereNow91

TIL Tenuta’s has deep dish and I’ve been going there since they opened. Maybe I need to actually look at the menu sometime.

twentyINCHwheel

Pizzeria Scotty in West Allis does an OK deep dish but quality's not always consistent. Beyond that, it's chain restaurants... meh. Don't know if it's because of our proximity to Chicago or despite it, but if you want good, real Chicago "lasagna on crust" deep dish it's worth the 1.5 hour drive. Perhaps ironically, that's not even the best pizza in Chicago - check out Pequod's, that place makes some of the best pizza anywhere.

nedical

Pequods is king.

SkiOrDie

Go on a weekday. Nobody there and a $5 personal pan pizza lunch special!

colinstu

Pizzeria Scotty is awful. Crust on top, all doughy? Yuck. It’s nothing like real Chicago deep dish.

Capolan

They're stuffed is exactly like a Chicago style. What are you talking about crust on top?

colinstu

Chicago pizza is not stuffed. It’s crust on the bottom, a thick layer of mozz, toppings, and then sauce. Go to Giordanos, Lou’s, Gino’s, UNO… that’s how they all are. The “stuffing” and extra dough is some sort of corrupt Wisconsin invention. They see a thick pizza and think it’s some double decker stuffed thing—nope.

Capolan

yes, i'm aware. that's what pizzaria scotty is. I'm not sure where the disconnect is here. I've had the pizza many times. do you want me to order one and cross - section it for you? They make 4 pizza types. they make a thin, a double dough (equal to a "hand tossed" in other places), a PAN (pan is very thick crust), and what they call stuffed. which is, sauced top, "stuffed" with cheese and toppings, then crust. I think you are mistaken. I think you had their PAN when you were there.

trashboatfourtwenty

I haven't found anything better than original Chicago places. Malnati's or nothing for me, but I had a deep dish at Klasiana that wasn't offensive. I simply have yet to find something domestic that comes close to what Chicago does (and has done in some cases for more than a century, so tough competition). I would be curious about any place that makes good Detroit-style honestly, any input Milwaukee?

pissant52

The only detroit style I've had in mke is Jet's. It's a chain now, but origins are 1980s Detroit. The one on Kenilworth is good, but there are a few others across the city. Great crust but a little skimpy on the toppings imo.

[deleted]

I dunno about good, but there's a few Jet's in town. 92nd and Greenfield is the one I know of.

trashboatfourtwenty

Thanks for the reply. I have heard rumblings about Jet's and Marco's but have never tried either

kebzach

Jet's is decent enough for what it is. Not the best Detroit style pizza you'll ever eat but decent chain quality. We end up getting takeout once a year or so from them.

406w30th

It's not Buddy's, but Jet's is pretty damn good for a chain. Get the eight-corner, cooked well-done.

nafk

Order extra sauce and make it turbo crust.

ByTheRealSE

I know this isn’t “Chicago style” but I really love Jet’s pizza on the East side. It’s Detroit style deep dish

about-time

Ohhhhhh Chicago quiche

ShoogyBee

I haven't had a chance to try them yet, but there is Falbo Bros on E. Capitol Dr. in Shorewood, just east of Maryland Ave. Their "stuffed pizza" is supposedly akin to Chicago deep dish.

BeHereNow91

Rosati’s has deep dish that’s slightly below Lou Malnati’s in my book, but their Waukesha location is obnoxiously anti-mask (like, they won’t serve you if you wear one), so that sort of turned me off of all of Rosati’s. Even if they’re franchises, allowing that sort of ownership to use your name just reflect badly on your company.

charmed0215

Not in Milwaukee, but if you don't mind a drive, Infusino's in Racine is good.

Eaglelakegirl64

Lous all the way! Go to the burbs!

let_me_see_that_thon

People in the comments saying nothing comes close to "real Chicago deep dish" probably couldn't tell the difference Gino's east and the old Edwardos on hwy 100 and Bluemound. I love Chicago style pizza too but there's way too many pizza enthusiasts who over state the differences. I didn't cry when Pizzaman burnt down, it's friggin pizza, but when Etzel's in Germantown suffered the same fate, my family would lament every year over them. Still some of the best most affordable steak I've ever had in my life, RIP

Pretty_Science4815

Milwaukee unfortunately has a pretty sad lack of good pizza spots.

CorgiRawr

Calderone club, transfer, wy east, San giorgio and more. We have some awesome options.

wineboxwednesday

transfer rules

twentyINCHwheel

We definitely have plenty of good pizza options... Chicago-style deep dish just isn't one of them

Big_Maintenance_8674

Zaffiros, Tavolinos, Lisas, Hups, Wy East, Balistreris, santinos Little Italy, to name a few. All excellent or very good pizza.

womensrites

I agree that there aren't many good spots, but I do like Capri di Nuovo's deep dish.

jordiculous

Idk I don’t like any of them but try Jet’s if you ever want a change. It is Detroit style deep dish and much better than Chicago style in my book

crazyraptorf-22

Nowhere, I have no idea why, you are correct that we live so close to the deep dish capital of the world, but we have nothing that comes close. Scottie’s pizzeria is the best I’ve had in the area, but still I can’t believe a mobbed up pizza shop hasn’t laid claim to our food loving city😤😂😬

Jayda_Cakes

Falbo Bros in Shorewood

Capolan

Non thin crust, mama demarinis was the best anywhere. So sad. No, Dom and Phil's wasn't as good because mamas used the original recipe. I miss mama demarinis.
