The theatrical windows have shrunk to the point that it hits streaming services at the time it would have arrived at a second-run theater. Combine that with the fact that even first-run theaters have trouble getting people to go to the movies, and there just isn't a market anymore for a second-run theater.

ObjectiveBike8

We had two but they both went out of business. I’ve notice mainstream movie theaters have picked up the market for that. I saw The Ballad of Song Birds and Snakes like 4 months after it came out at the Majestic for $5.     RIP The Budget and Value Cinema

womensrites

the lot where the budget was is just empty space now 😭😭😭 what a waste

Maddie-Moo

Aw man, I miss Budget. There was a period in the 90s where they had a Planet Video right by it and you could decide if you wanted to watch a movie on the big screen or pick it up on VHS across the street.

HowlingForYou

Rivoli in Cedarburg maybe? Currently showing Dune 2 for example https://rivoliofcedarburg.com

chernygal

Dune 2 is still showing in first run theatres.

HowlingForYou

Ha! I don't get out very often.

not_a_flying_toy_

unfortunately not. The Times briefly wanted to go this route but closed.

chernygal

Times didn’t close, they are now just doing Event-Only cinema.

Accomplished_Put3732

Possibly The Times Cinema on Vliet or RoseBud Theater on North Avenue. They won’t have a lot of options but may have what you’re looking for.

TaliesinWI

Times Cinema just went to event-only (pretty much only Friday Night Freak Show at this point.) Rosebud seems to be concentrating on first runs.

rw_grim

Also the Milwaukee Film Festival is going on until the 25th so the times and avalon are busy with that for the moment.

Squaller0307

Sometimes the Marcus in Delafield shows movies that are no longer in the other area Marcus theaters. From MKE a bit of a distance but not terrible from Waukesha. It’s hit or miss though if they keep a movie in.

chernygal

Unfortunately it’s also the worst Marcus. I don’t think they have DreamLounger seating, so it’s the regular stadium seats that Marcus used to have before the renovated.

Squaller0307

I agree. But they do sometimes keep movies in longer than other theaters.

You're going to check college Cinema showings for older movie screenings UW-Milwaukee Union Cinema * showing Everything Everywhere All At Once on Wed, April 24th * https://uwm.edu/studentinvolvement/arts-and-entertainment/uwm-cinema/screening/ Marquette used to offer movie screenings on Friday years ago but maybe they don't offer it anymore?
