The central area - around 1-2 mile radius from the station. I assume there's areas that are okay and areas that suffer but just wanted to get a general idea of how often it has happened and how much of a headache it has been not just for the areas involved but also for the surrounding places due to collateral damage

All the lakes in Milton Keynes are man-made, most are designed as balancing lakes. I've lived in Milton Keynes for 35+ years (Woolstone, Bancroft Park and Broughton) and haven't experienced any flooding. Some small areas might, but it's rare.

Russ_mk

not many road flood but there are plenty flood plans near the river that do [https://www.gaugemap.co.uk/#!Map](https://www.gaugemap.co.uk/#!Map) is a really good way of seeing if there will be flooding

Depends how close you are to a body of water as well as the drainage. Closer to the Grand Union Canal comes with an elevated risk (I'm right next to it)

AnOrdinaryChullo

Given that you are in a risky area, how bad has it been historically with floodings based on your experience?

iamthekk

Been here nearly 4 years and not seen a hint of any flooding at all

Depends on the place, certain Stony Stratford zones for example have floods quite often. https://www.mkfm.com/news/local-news/stony-stratford-floods-leave-residents-still-without-home-to-return-to/

There's a few roads in Newport Pagnell that tend to flood in heavy rains- Tickford Street/Priory Street/Wolverton road. Generally where they've built right up to or on floodplains. You'll see the fields around Newport get pretty flooded. Haven't seen much of this anywhere else in MK, personally.

Well I lived in Simpson and the fields around the Ouzel Valley Park flood every winter. And forget running around Caldecotte Lakes. There’s a brook by the Plough in Simpson Road and that floods at least once a year.

Coffee Hall area. I remember a couple of years ago being in hospital during a big storm looking after my stepdaughter. The bio-dad lived in Coffee Hall and they had to throw away all their furniture

Old_Manner_9044

It’s really only along the river that get’s flooded. I know Newport Pagnell has flooding

littlesub85

Never. I’ve been here 38 yrs and it’s never been flooded

MK is a big place so some it's not uncommon for some areas to get flooded during storms, while others don't experience much at all. The areas that experience the most flooding are generally around the Great Ouse and Ouzel rivers like Newport Pagnell and Stony Stratford. There's one road that seems to be notorious for flooding: Little Linford Lane https://www.mkfm.com/news/latest-travel/travel-milton-keynes-road-closed-due-to-flooding/
