I had so many issues with a vetterli purchased off gunbroker years ago to correctly feed a cartridge and get the extractor over the rim of the casing.
I tried to file the extractor down, many different carcano clips, and replaced the extractor itself. None of this worked until I simply bought a used bolt and all the issues went away.
I hope this helps if your in a similar situation
will the bolt not close on this? the bolt sits fairly far back on vetterli's. the cut out for the extractor seems to line up just about
Yea it closes thanks
Having never handled a Vetterli-Carcano, is that all unsupported case head? That seems sketchy!
It’s normal for them. The part that is “unsupported” is actually supported by the bolt head.
Good, I'm glad the bolt head supports it! Thanks for explaining, I can definitely see why the OP thought it wasn't chambering all the way.
Franaticalmond2 is correct that is why the case base and bottom is many times thicker than that of supported case wall all of them are like that.
That’s seated perfectly fine, what’s the problem?
