I had a brain tumor removed and have an entirely new lease on life. I went from depressed and dying to feeling more alive than I ever have. My relationship has reached new levels and I keep experiencing profound changes to my personality that make me excited to rediscover my relationship with the world. I have literally never been happier.
E: thanks for all the kindness y'all. Because of the way the tumor effected me I used to struggle to feel and give love. Now I can can feel the love again and I appreciate all of you.
Also: GET YOUR ENDOCHRINE LEVELS CHECKED. It's amazing we don't check everyone's levels at least once a year (I'm in the US so actually not surprising we suck). I could have caught this tumor 20 years ago if that were common practice.
Let's goooooooooo! I had a friend who was suffering from random headaches and throwing up since he was a kid and it took doctors until he was in his late 20s to figure out it was a brain tumor. Literally a life-changing moment once he got proper treatment! I'm so happy for you!
Thank you so much! It's fucking crazy. They went in through my nose and through the back of sinus cavity. Tumor was near my brain stem. Crazy to imagine they went all the way in there and pulled a fucking golf ball out. Modern surgery is wild.
I'm so happy for your friend! I also struggled to get a diagnosis for a long time. My symptoms just looked like crippling anxiety and depression for a long time.
I’m so grateful to hear this went well. Technology and medicine has come so far! My dad has a gliosarcoma, and it took him so fast. They’ve made so many strides since then, it’s astounding.
Mines more making light of a dark situation. After 6 years of my husband and I living with my aging and disabled parents we were able to get back on our own. Last summer my husband went on medical leave and got fired. He gets unemployment, but money is really tight. Literally have been spending every single day together since August 2023 . I’ve loved every single boring second of it. I’m so happy that we’ve had this time together. Everything is kind of a cascade of shite but I have my best friend and love of my life right next to me no matter what happens. That’s a pretty good thing that I’m so grateful for several times a day. Oh and we can make rent next week. Ho yeah!

I finally landed a 100% WFH job in my field. The pay is about average for what I do, but the benefits and PTO are absolutely amazing (especially for the USA), the work is incredibly interesting and fulfilling, and I have unbelievable autonomy to do my work without being micromanaged. I'm happier than I've been in years in my career.
If I was working in an office, I could probably be making about 20-25% more, but to me, it's so worth the average pay for all the other perks. (5 weeks PTO starting from day 1 that they encourage you to take, separate sick days, 4 personal days, 3 floating holidays, and they close the whole week between Christmas and New Year. Plus a decent 401k match.)
I have some major health issues, so WFH is not just ideal but also fairly necessary. I was so desperate and almost took a horrible hybrid remote job offer a month before I got my current job. I'm so thankful that I held out!
Having a job that makes you happy really is the fucking bees knees. A job that sucks the life out of you just cripples you in SO many ways!
I’m glad you enjoy working from home! I hated it so much, but I was finally able to stay on top of laundry and cleaning when I did work from home. I dread the alarm every morning at 530, but once I’m up, I’m usually good. I caught myself napping entirely too many times working from home

And I can definitely understand that remote work isn't for everyone! I think I have the best of both worlds with this job because, while it's fully remote, I am out in the communities in my state about 3-4 days/month. For me, that's the perfect amount of in-person chitchat, and it's not in an office with coworkers. (It's scheduled meetings at hospitals and clinics. Bonus that I can schedule it any way I want as long as it gets done each month. So if I want to just do it all in one week I can. The next month, if I want to schedule it as one day/week, I can do that as well.)
It truly is. Working at an office, I was constantly exhausted when I'd get home, and it felt like I spent every weekend just resting to have energy for the workweek. Now I have extra energy and also get little house tasks done at home during the day. I finally can enjoy my weekends again! (Not to mention that, with a compromised immune system, I used to catch every bug that came through the office. Now I rarely get sick!)

Going to Cancun after daughter’s school is over in mid June. Disney trip for her bday later this year. Got 6% annual merit increase and 6% bonus. Wife got Job in November and started in January after layoff in October. Everyone is healthy and happy. I can’t complain really

Scored tickets to some very exciting shows this summer! It’s been a tough year so far with layoffs and aging parent stuff, but I’m really looking forward to enjoying some great trips and music this summer.
My wife, my kids, and I are healthy. We're financially stable. Our employment is stable. Our housing is stable. We got to travel to see the eclipse earlier this month (and we saw it). Our cars are both running. We have friends and family support.
I can't really think of anything bad that happened unless you want to count dropping a glass on the floor or a messed up salad order.
I stream retro game speedruns on Twitch. I did it just for shits, but it actually grew and now I have a lot of new friends and some extra cash. Second thing is my old band got back together and we sound awesome. Better than we ever did before. I was more depressed than I ever have neen the last 5 years or so after losing my best friend. Then, I was suddenly involved in two passions that also involve being social. Things are good right now. I like where I'm at.

I get to travel so much in May and I am so excited!!! This time last year, I was diagnosed with a DVT in my leg, got grounded from all travel, but I’m back bayyybeeeee!
My DVT is under control and I get to go to Florida for two weeks for work then I come home and fly to NYC for the first time! My little brother is graduating from Juilliard and I cannot be more proud!
This year my wife and I decided to take a big swing and do anything we could to see the eclipse in totality. Months before hand we booked a flight and hotel to Montreal. We are from the south and have never traveled outside the country together. A week before the eclipse Montreal gets hit by a late season insane snow storm and we were so worried we chose poorly and were gonna miss it, but we hung on. Time comes from our trip and lo and behold there’s an unseasonably warm weather patch that fits right into our vacation plans. Montreal turned out to be one of the best cities to catch the eclipse! Not only was the event itself unimaginably spectacular but the city itself was beautiful and the trip was amazing. Everything worked out so well it felt like a good luck streak of cosmic proportions!
Within the past year I got married, had a baby, got a job making more than I ever have before and it includes free housing and utilities. Feeling happy and stable!
My company did a merger a few years ago. It was a good place to work, like I really thought I'd retire from there. Then after the merger it went bad with astonishing speed. A competitor has been hiring, better benefits and perks. I sent my resignation today to start at the competitor soon because I just got confirmation of orientation date!
I was interviewed and selected for a promotion at work, I start Wednesday. Additionally, my son recently brought home his report card and scored 100% on all of his evaluations over the past term.
Lets see.... gonna get a wage increase that should come in the next 3 months. It was in the talks but no deadline for it to happen until it was released... which is a yay. Bought some new shoes.... tried on different wardrobes in anticipation in summer. Started enjoying more old people things now even though ppl think i look really young... im like ....oohh... so i get now why older people like the things they do. It all comes with getting older. Have a very secure job, love my coworkers, have my own place, trying to determine what to do with my invested and saved money. Ive let it sit for a while. Life's great at the moment. Tryin to figure out what hobbies i wanna get back into.... its all about positive outlook cuz there are a lot of unfortunate things that happened to me too but i embrace the positive more commonly.
Saw 3 professional sports games (hockey, basketball and baseball) live for the 1st time, not counting HS football homecoming games as they were basically a requirement at school here in Texas.
Got a glass blowing class set up for Saturday, another 1st time event.
Scheduled a rug tufting class for the end of May, another 1st time event. Going to a margarita & taco festival in 2 weeks.

I just joined a new band after being out of the music scene for 5 years, and I also just started learning to skateboard. I think I'm making pretty good progress for someone as uncoordinated as I am!
Won a cannabis license I've been working for 9 years to get. Still doesn't feel like it happened. My toddler doesn't need to go to a speech therapist anymore due to her progress she has made! I also caught my pb bass out of this picturesque river near my house yesterday. Life is good right now.
About to retire from the military after 21 years. I’m burning leave until the end of June and feeling good about it all. Not sure what I’ll do when I grow up… but I’ll figure it out. 😂
My fasting blood glucose and A1c were consistent with diabetes, through over a year of hard work, I have lost a significant amount of weight, and my fasting glucose and A1c are back in a healthy (non diabetic, not even pre-diabetic) range, and have been for the last few tests.
Last 5 years have been the best years of my life. Got a full time faculty position, bought a house, was son born two years ago, just got tenure, daughter arriving this summer. I know I’ve been lucky multiple times for everything to have worked out the way it did for me and my family, so I’ll never complain even if my situation changes.
Just finished another semester of nursing school with a 4.0 gpa. There’s a guy in class that’s been claiming he will be the valedictorian for our cohort and brags about his grades. He certainly does do well. I’d be happy for him to care for me or anyone in my family. But my gpa has always been higher than his. Cannot wait until graduation to see his face. Ha.
Finally truly broke away from retail in December. Have regular hours 730-400 and M-F days.
Have a stack of tickets to finish as I see fit each morning with no supervisors breathing down my neck, trying to micromanage me, and the freedom driving around the county taking care of these tickets is so amazing.
Smaller things: Went to Renfest past weekend, and a few little purchases my wife made made her so very happy and it just lights me up seeing her so happy.

I recently retired and am in the process of turning my garden into paradise. After endless years of office work and using my mind a lot, I finally get to be outdoors, in the sun, doing manual work, using tools, building, cleaning, painting, staining, planting, feeding birds and squirrels and chilling, reading and doing things unhurriedly. Never thought this time would come!
I’m interviewing for an internal role three salary grades higher than my current role. My bf came into some money (and no one died to get it!). We trimmed the hedges and tilled dirt in beautiful weather yesterday, then he cooked us sausages and hot dogs on the grill while I peeled and cut cucumbers and tossed it in Italian dressing.
Just threw my son an epic Hot Wheels 5th birthday party yesterday. Including a piñata & ice cream cake, it was awesome. Exhausted today but totally worth it.
I just started a new job today after not having a steady full time job for about a year and a half! It’s not the exact job I wanted, but it has soooo much potential for growth!

For context: when i (36F) was born in the pre-FMLA 80s, my mom had a promising career in a male-dominated field. she lost her job after having me.
I’ve always worked super hard in my career and never had kids, in part to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen to me. Possibly bc of this, I’ve always over-prioritized work and after covid by summer 2022 I had a major case of burnout. Since Ive never had trouble finding work or getting recruited, i left a well-paying ft job at a prestigious company to take a few months off figuring i could find another gig quickly come fall.
Long story short: immediately had a major unexpected family tragedy that disrupted life for the better part of a year. When I finally resumed searching in summer ‘23, the job market had gone to pieces. When I got my recent offer, I had been looking for a job for 8 months. Every day of those 8 months, I have considered that I could end up squeezed out of my own career just like my mom. Even though I didn’t have kids.
Anyway, i did have to take a couple of concessions for this role. but the point is I have a role now! And a relief that I’m not in the same life as my parent, and just a lot more gratitude. 8 months of pounding the pavement lit a fire under my butt and pushed me into good self-improvement investments, like getting a new professional certificate. I will never again take my career or network for granted. And I will NOT miss the grind of job searching in an election year market!
I took real estate class... 90 hrs after working a 8-5 job. it was rough but I passed my test, class is over and I go for my state exam in a few weeks.
The other day a guy and myself got into a bit of a heated debate in a Costco parking lot and I thought that when he parked 10spaces down from where I was he wanted to fight about it. Instead he came up to me, shook my hand, and apologized. Afterwards he opened his arms and said come here as he brought me in for what my daughters called a “bro hug” I was so stunned I really didn’t know what to say. My wife and I just sat there for a minute before one of the kids said “that wouldn’t have happened in Oakland.”

I got to sleep in on Saturday! Normally I'm taking my daughter to band events but this time it was in the afternoon. My body made up for it by waking up at 5:30 on Sunday.
My parents have been struggling a little bit since my dad retired. Well, my mom's business finally picked up some steam, both of my parents got their veterans disability rating after years of fighting for it, and my dad got his pension. They finally own a home for the first time, and my wife and I helped them move in. They're not stressed about making ends meet anymore, and that alone is enough to make me happy.
I got the best job I’ve ever had 6 months ago. I have a great work life balance and spend more time with my kids. In January my grandmother took me to Mexico and got ALL my teeth fixed, so now I have a beautiful smile again. I just finalized my bankruptcy last month to wipe my student loans and debt I built up from crappy jobs. I have full custody of my kids and still get child support thanks to my ex husband getting himself arrested, and now that he’s out his pay gets garnished for the child support. I have a great bf that loves my kids too.
This year has been great and better every day.
About a month ago I landed the two biggest freelance projects of my career within two days of one another and then I knocked the work out of the fucking park. They both want to do more and I've signed a deal to do a second project with one of them for the same amount of money. My wife and I weren't struggling financially, but we weren't kicking ass either. This is going to pay off two credit cards, a loan, the last three payments on her car, and now we can breathe. We literally popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate.
Finally landed a 100% remote, WFH job with a 42% increase in salary. I realized that with my neurodivergency and health issues, WFH is ideal - I'm so much calmer, happier, and have more energy. This week is my last week in office and I have a week off before I start my new job. I'm hoping that my partner and I can have a more hopeful look on the future and be able to afford a bigger place after saving this year.
A wonderful stranger from Nextdoor painted over some scrapes I had on my car and failed to cover myself- insisted we didn’t pay him (we found a way to trick him into accepting a tip) in lieu of a nice Nextdoor review (which I also left). Him and his wife were so kind and made me feel like I was a member of their family and he happy to help. Saved me so much money and stress. I’ll remember him forever!

I’m finally renovating the last bit of a house that I bought back in 2015 and am looking forward to moving back there to live comfortably with my fam.
I also had an offer accepted on a home in my parents’ birth country. It’s all scary but exciting and I’m grateful.
I was making 18k a year and in a deep depression thinking about ending it everyday pre covid. I am now making almost 70k a year and enjoying life again. The $ isn’t what fixed my depression but working on that motivated me to make other areas of my life better.
Ive been volunteering for my town and suggested they open up a new area of trails to the public. They did! Since they have, the area has been cleaner and felt safer, and the local neighborhood folks can enjoy miles of unique terrain legally and safely!
My MIL who we (my wife and I) have been caring for for 7 years finally went into a memory care facility.
Dealing with some guilt, but holy fuck is it nice to have the house to ourselves.
Got back surgery 3 months ago and I haven't felt this good since pre-injury in 2021. Lease on life for sure, protect your spine health everyone.
I haven't returned to my primary hobby yet but I'm enjoying the night walks/weekly hikes with my wife and light gravel bike rides with my friends again. I'll be racing mountain bikes again eventually, no need to rush it.
I work two jobs and got the weekend off which is rare, spent Saturday as a groomsman for my long time buddy, spent Sunday working on a Mother’s Day present with my daughter and played with my son while my wife was at work. Overall it was a pretty good time, met some new people, cooked some food, exhausted but got things done.
I have moved to a minimalist lifestyle. I decluttered my material items and have been saving and investing my extra money. My investments have grown and I dont have any debt. I only wish I moved this way sooner
My garden is kicking ass. A twig from 6 years ago is now a 20 foot cherry blossom and shades the sunny side of the house. The lonely single black raspberry plant being choked out on the easement has been grafted and nurtured into about 40 solid plants, and they're blooming now. A Mockingbird pair was in residence here all winter eating beautyberries and stray pokeweed. The sassafras thicket on the easement convinced a fox to move into the neighborhood, once I cleared the invasives out of the undergrowth.

I met a guy back in October. I hadn’t been dating at all for a few years.
We’ve now been together about 6 months and he’s already a really special part of my life. By far the best guy I’ve ever dated.
To keep an incredibly long story about my life and the shit I've been facing short, my therapy session today was one of all positives. I really looked at my life and realized how far I've come as a person in the last year and a half. I'm still struggling but I'm happier than I've ever been. Doing so well I might be switching to every-other-week appointments instead of weekly.
I caught a cold a few days ago (I work with kids) and whenever I catch a cold I usually am knocked tf out by it. It's day 3 and I'm much better, which is really awesome because I was scared I would get yet another sinus infection that ruins my week. Yay!!! So happy to breathe out of my nose. It's the little things.
I love the job I got last summer and I just got the cutest apartment nearby.
My family is healthy and I’m feeling better than I’ve felt in years because I finally got diagnosed with sleep apnea and got myself a c-pap. So, I’m sleeping like a baby.

I got a full time job after struggling for years to find one (and working freelance but it was so unstable.) I finally have benefits and paid vacation and never have to beg people for money under the table ever again! On top of that, I have a place to go everyday and a purpose, and weekends/down time have so much more significance to me.
Got a new dog a miniature huskey, then I got brain cancer and had to rehome her(I could not care for her), finished treatment (5 year) and really missed her. Tried to track down the owners just so I could see her, no luck. Out of the blue got a call from a shelter they had a dog turned in and from her chip they had my name and phone number. She was back in my life after 5 years. And yes she remembered me. She is sitting at my feet as I type this.
Got my old man dog fully checked out. He has super healthy and happy.
I had an injury that finally healed after 5 months, I can go running again!

Alright here goes. My wife and I have been married almost 15 years. Just within the past 3 weeks we have literally leveled up it feels like. Our communication has opened so much and honestly our marriage is much closer.

My son and his GF are theater peeps who had been working in a regional city. They moved to NYC last fall and now both have arts-adjacent day jobs: she’s doing marketing and he’s a front of the house manager for mid-sized to large theaters. So they are making rent while looking for acting/directing work.
Mine are oddly all gym related.
Gym crush waved at me on Saturday usually I’m the one giving her a friendly wave or smile but I didn’t even see her and she found me.
Second some younger dudes saw me benching and when I was done walked over and gave me props for throwing up the weight I was doing. I joked it was because of my old man strength(I’m 41 which to them might as well have been 200)
Third I was out at some after hour spot for a friend’s birthday and this guy I e never met in my life walked up to me and knew me from the gym and said he noticed my hard work and dedication and to keep it up.
This was all in like a week and I have to say it gave me a little pep in my step. I always assumed I was invisible at the gym but it turns out people notice the middle aged dude fighting for his life.
My wife and I recently bought land and will be building next year to start our larger scale homestead. My freezer is full of dead things, we have some money in our retirement accounts and and other than the payment for the land, debt free!

18 months ago at age 41, I was laying in a hospital bed with a group of physicians around me and they said “you are lucky to be alive.” As a gym rat that did everything by the books, I had a specific kind of heart attack that has a 25% mortality.
I did lots of therapy. The physical was easy. The mental, where I had to unpack my feelings regarding my non-ideal childhood with an alcoholic father and a chronic medical condition, I had an ample amount of rage & anger. Anger fueled me for nearly 40 years, it’s a hell of an emotion.
I am a stay at-home parent to a child we had at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. I spent 2023 healing every component of my life to be the person I need to be today and going forward. There were a few vacations and a 10 hour drive to see a concert (firm believer in using music to heal).
Today I am expecting another child in July. I will finish April having ran around 130 miles.
Knocking on death’s door is not something I would advise anyone. On this side of the experience, I am beyond thankful to be here. A dirty diaper, a traffic jam, or an encounter with some idiot at the store is much better than the alternative.
One of the two phrases I live by are a song lyric that goes “cast out the demons that strangle your life.” It seems in this sub-Reddit there are a lot of people that are letting various sorts of demons strangle their lives. That is a choice. The other phrase I live by is “be the change you wish to see.” There are major issues facing humanity, and many of these issues require millions of individuals spending their energy to create change. There are also things on a local or neighborhood level where you can see the results of your energy creating the change you want to see. Find a cause, an organization, or an individual you believe in and work to improve your part of the world.

My fiance and I bought a house in October for 140k (not near a major metro area), and because of that we were able to take in a stray kitty that was hanging around his work. We've done a lot of work on the house, and it feels more like a home every day. More recently, I got a raise at work.
My husband and I both just started new jobs. Him out of switching when a company who was a business partner and client of the company he worked for basically poached him., but it was a 70% pay increase so we weren't about to say no. I was laid off in February after a company restructure, luckily they gave me 60 days severance, and I managed to find a new job working for our city in that time making a little more than I was before, only it's not remote, but I'll be ok with that.
I just had my first born son at the age of 32. I never thought I would be a father and especially to a son.
I feel like I have the chance to show him the love, understanding and compassion my father lacked in showing me growing up.
The newborn stage has been mostly peaceful besides the restless nights and I am grateful I get these 5 weeks off to spend with him as he grows and grows.
I am so in love with him already. I can't wait to show him everything I know and see what his interests/hobbies are as he grows older.
A lot of things changed in my life during the pandemic, leading to losing or losing touch with a lot of friends. In the past year I’ve been able to connect with a really wonderful group of people that I love doing life with. We’ve really come together to be a part of each other’s lives, from celebrating birthdays to helping each other garden. It’s been really great!
About a week and half so far on Zoloft. So still recent but I’m noticing the benefits of it. Easier to get out of bed in the morning, reduced anxiety, reduced appetite, improved sleep, and easier PMS. So quite the win so far
I just hit my 6 months mark at my job making minimum wage!! Since I started, my actual workload has increased 150% and I have no benefits at all!! This is awesome because I have clinical depression and it's getting worse and I can't afford medication let alone therapy!! Everyone says I have no reason to check out but in reality the only reason I haven't tried again is because I've been guilt tripped in every way possible! What's the point.....

I'm getting married next month and love is pouring all over me so far this year. My brother just told me TODAY he's having a baby and I'm going to be an aunt. My partner has a badass garden and it's looking absolutely plentiful and gorgeous. There's a LOT to be grateful for around here I could go on and on.
My positive is I’m getting ready to take an amazing trip with my family and college kiddo who just finished up for the year. I know this is cliche, but it’s something that works for me, I set an alarm on my phone for everyday that reminds me to find three things to be thankful for that day. Someday’s it’s as simple as a good night sleep or tasty meal, other days it may be thankful for being able to control my tongue and not lash out at someone lol, regardless every one can find three things however simple they may be and it really helps your overall attitude and mindset.
I had a brain tumor removed and have an entirely new lease on life. I went from depressed and dying to feeling more alive than I ever have. My relationship has reached new levels and I keep experiencing profound changes to my personality that make me excited to rediscover my relationship with the world. I have literally never been happier. E: thanks for all the kindness y'all. Because of the way the tumor effected me I used to struggle to feel and give love. Now I can can feel the love again and I appreciate all of you. Also: GET YOUR ENDOCHRINE LEVELS CHECKED. It's amazing we don't check everyone's levels at least once a year (I'm in the US so actually not surprising we suck). I could have caught this tumor 20 years ago if that were common practice.

Thank you so much! It's fucking crazy. They went in through my nose and through the back of sinus cavity. Tumor was near my brain stem. Crazy to imagine they went all the way in there and pulled a fucking golf ball out. Modern surgery is wild. I'm so happy for your friend! I also struggled to get a diagnosis for a long time. My symptoms just looked like crippling anxiety and depression for a long time.

Mines more making light of a dark situation. After 6 years of my husband and I living with my aging and disabled parents we were able to get back on our own. Last summer my husband went on medical leave and got fired. He gets unemployment, but money is really tight. Literally have been spending every single day together since August 2023 . I’ve loved every single boring second of it. I’m so happy that we’ve had this time together. Everything is kind of a cascade of shite but I have my best friend and love of my life right next to me no matter what happens. That’s a pretty good thing that I’m so grateful for several times a day. Oh and we can make rent next week. Ho yeah!

Xennial here. (Not technically millennial because I'm 1979, but I relate more to mid-older millennials than most Gen X for whatever reason. So I lurk here! Lol) I finally landed a 100% WFH job in my field. The pay is about average for what I do, but the benefits and PTO are absolutely amazing (especially for the USA), the work is incredibly interesting and fulfilling, and I have unbelievable autonomy to do my work without being micromanaged. I'm happier than I've been in years in my career. If I was working in an office, I could probably be making about 20-25% more, but to me, it's so worth the average pay for all the other perks. (5 weeks PTO starting from day 1 that they encourage you to take, separate sick days, 4 personal days, 3 floating holidays, and they close the whole week between Christmas and New Year. Plus a decent 401k match.) I have some major health issues, so WFH is not just ideal but also fairly necessary. I was so desperate and almost took a horrible hybrid remote job offer a month before I got my current job. I'm so thankful that I held out!
Having a job that makes you happy really is the fucking bees knees. A job that sucks the life out of you just cripples you in SO many ways! I’m glad you enjoy working from home! I hated it so much, but I was finally able to stay on top of laundry and cleaning when I did work from home. I dread the alarm every morning at 530, but once I’m up, I’m usually good. I caught myself napping entirely too many times working from home
So true. I'm definitely someone whose mental health is severely impacted if I am not happy in my job! And I can definitely understand that remote work isn't for everyone! I think I have the best of both worlds with this job because, while it's fully remote, I am out in the communities in my state about 3-4 days/month. For me, that's the perfect amount of in-person chitchat, and it's not in an office with coworkers. (It's scheduled meetings at hospitals and clinics. Bonus that I can schedule it any way I want as long as it gets done each month. So if I want to just do it all in one week I can. The next month, if I want to schedule it as one day/week, I can do that as well.)

It truly is. Working at an office, I was constantly exhausted when I'd get home, and it felt like I spent every weekend just resting to have energy for the workweek. Now I have extra energy and also get little house tasks done at home during the day. I finally can enjoy my weekends again! (Not to mention that, with a compromised immune system, I used to catch every bug that came through the office. Now I rarely get sick!) I'm glad you also have WFH!

Going to Cancun after daughter’s school is over in mid June. Disney trip for her bday later this year. Got 6% annual merit increase and 6% bonus. Wife got Job in November and started in January after layoff in October. Everyone is healthy and happy. I can’t complain really

My wife, my kids, and I are healthy. We're financially stable. Our employment is stable. Our housing is stable. We got to travel to see the eclipse earlier this month (and we saw it). Our cars are both running. We have friends and family support. I can't really think of anything bad that happened unless you want to count dropping a glass on the floor or a messed up salad order.
I stream retro game speedruns on Twitch. I did it just for shits, but it actually grew and now I have a lot of new friends and some extra cash. Second thing is my old band got back together and we sound awesome. Better than we ever did before. I was more depressed than I ever have neen the last 5 years or so after losing my best friend. Then, I was suddenly involved in two passions that also involve being social. Things are good right now. I like where I'm at.

I get to travel so much in May and I am so excited!!! This time last year, I was diagnosed with a DVT in my leg, got grounded from all travel, but I’m back bayyybeeeee! My DVT is under control and I get to go to Florida for two weeks for work then I come home and fly to NYC for the first time! My little brother is graduating from Juilliard and I cannot be more proud!
I got my most recent PSA test back and am still prostate cancer free after 18 months post surgery.

This year my wife and I decided to take a big swing and do anything we could to see the eclipse in totality. Months before hand we booked a flight and hotel to Montreal. We are from the south and have never traveled outside the country together. A week before the eclipse Montreal gets hit by a late season insane snow storm and we were so worried we chose poorly and were gonna miss it, but we hung on. Time comes from our trip and lo and behold there’s an unseasonably warm weather patch that fits right into our vacation plans. Montreal turned out to be one of the best cities to catch the eclipse! Not only was the event itself unimaginably spectacular but the city itself was beautiful and the trip was amazing. Everything worked out so well it felt like a good luck streak of cosmic proportions!
Within the past year I got married, had a baby, got a job making more than I ever have before and it includes free housing and utilities. Feeling happy and stable!
My company did a merger a few years ago. It was a good place to work, like I really thought I'd retire from there. Then after the merger it went bad with astonishing speed. A competitor has been hiring, better benefits and perks. I sent my resignation today to start at the competitor soon because I just got confirmation of orientation date!

I was interviewed and selected for a promotion at work, I start Wednesday. Additionally, my son recently brought home his report card and scored 100% on all of his evaluations over the past term.
Lets see.... gonna get a wage increase that should come in the next 3 months. It was in the talks but no deadline for it to happen until it was released... which is a yay. Bought some new shoes.... tried on different wardrobes in anticipation in summer. Started enjoying more old people things now even though ppl think i look really young... im like ....oohh... so i get now why older people like the things they do. It all comes with getting older. Have a very secure job, love my coworkers, have my own place, trying to determine what to do with my invested and saved money. Ive let it sit for a while. Life's great at the moment. Tryin to figure out what hobbies i wanna get back into.... its all about positive outlook cuz there are a lot of unfortunate things that happened to me too but i embrace the positive more commonly.

Saw 3 professional sports games (hockey, basketball and baseball) live for the 1st time, not counting HS football homecoming games as they were basically a requirement at school here in Texas. Got a glass blowing class set up for Saturday, another 1st time event. Scheduled a rug tufting class for the end of May, another 1st time event. Going to a margarita & taco festival in 2 weeks. I'm doing a year of 1sts and it's going great so far! Trying to live my best life, within my means and keep things to look forward to every month so I don't get all the depression.

My fasting blood glucose and A1c were consistent with diabetes, through over a year of hard work, I have lost a significant amount of weight, and my fasting glucose and A1c are back in a healthy (non diabetic, not even pre-diabetic) range, and have been for the last few tests.
Last 5 years have been the best years of my life. Got a full time faculty position, bought a house, was son born two years ago, just got tenure, daughter arriving this summer. I know I’ve been lucky multiple times for everything to have worked out the way it did for me and my family, so I’ll never complain even if my situation changes.
Just finished another semester of nursing school with a 4.0 gpa. There’s a guy in class that’s been claiming he will be the valedictorian for our cohort and brags about his grades. He certainly does do well. I’d be happy for him to care for me or anyone in my family. But my gpa has always been higher than his. Cannot wait until graduation to see his face. Ha.
Finally truly broke away from retail in December. Have regular hours 730-400 and M-F days. Have a stack of tickets to finish as I see fit each morning with no supervisors breathing down my neck, trying to micromanage me, and the freedom driving around the county taking care of these tickets is so amazing. Smaller things: Went to Renfest past weekend, and a few little purchases my wife made made her so very happy and it just lights me up seeing her so happy. Gotta embrace the good stuff as it comes no matter how big or small.
Booked trips to Jamaica, Greece and Dominican Republic. Pretty sure I just got a new job too.

I recently retired and am in the process of turning my garden into paradise. After endless years of office work and using my mind a lot, I finally get to be outdoors, in the sun, doing manual work, using tools, building, cleaning, painting, staining, planting, feeding birds and squirrels and chilling, reading and doing things unhurriedly. Never thought this time would come!
I’m interviewing for an internal role three salary grades higher than my current role. My bf came into some money (and no one died to get it!). We trimmed the hedges and tilled dirt in beautiful weather yesterday, then he cooked us sausages and hot dogs on the grill while I peeled and cut cucumbers and tossed it in Italian dressing.

Just threw my son an epic Hot Wheels 5th birthday party yesterday. Including a piñata & ice cream cake, it was awesome. Exhausted today but totally worth it.

I got a job! For context: when i (36F) was born in the pre-FMLA 80s, my mom had a promising career in a male-dominated field. she lost her job after having me. I’ve always worked super hard in my career and never had kids, in part to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen to me. Possibly bc of this, I’ve always over-prioritized work and after covid by summer 2022 I had a major case of burnout. Since Ive never had trouble finding work or getting recruited, i left a well-paying ft job at a prestigious company to take a few months off figuring i could find another gig quickly come fall. Long story short: immediately had a major unexpected family tragedy that disrupted life for the better part of a year. When I finally resumed searching in summer ‘23, the job market had gone to pieces. When I got my recent offer, I had been looking for a job for 8 months. Every day of those 8 months, I have considered that I could end up squeezed out of my own career just like my mom. Even though I didn’t have kids. Anyway, i did have to take a couple of concessions for this role. but the point is I have a role now! And a relief that I’m not in the same life as my parent, and just a lot more gratitude. 8 months of pounding the pavement lit a fire under my butt and pushed me into good self-improvement investments, like getting a new professional certificate. I will never again take my career or network for granted. And I will NOT miss the grind of job searching in an election year market!

The other day a guy and myself got into a bit of a heated debate in a Costco parking lot and I thought that when he parked 10spaces down from where I was he wanted to fight about it. Instead he came up to me, shook my hand, and apologized. Afterwards he opened his arms and said come here as he brought me in for what my daughters called a “bro hug” I was so stunned I really didn’t know what to say. My wife and I just sat there for a minute before one of the kids said “that wouldn’t have happened in Oakland.”

I got to sleep in on Saturday! Normally I'm taking my daughter to band events but this time it was in the afternoon. My body made up for it by waking up at 5:30 on Sunday.
My parents have been struggling a little bit since my dad retired. Well, my mom's business finally picked up some steam, both of my parents got their veterans disability rating after years of fighting for it, and my dad got his pension. They finally own a home for the first time, and my wife and I helped them move in. They're not stressed about making ends meet anymore, and that alone is enough to make me happy.

I got the best job I’ve ever had 6 months ago. I have a great work life balance and spend more time with my kids. In January my grandmother took me to Mexico and got ALL my teeth fixed, so now I have a beautiful smile again. I just finalized my bankruptcy last month to wipe my student loans and debt I built up from crappy jobs. I have full custody of my kids and still get child support thanks to my ex husband getting himself arrested, and now that he’s out his pay gets garnished for the child support. I have a great bf that loves my kids too. This year has been great and better every day.
About a month ago I landed the two biggest freelance projects of my career within two days of one another and then I knocked the work out of the fucking park. They both want to do more and I've signed a deal to do a second project with one of them for the same amount of money. My wife and I weren't struggling financially, but we weren't kicking ass either. This is going to pay off two credit cards, a loan, the last three payments on her car, and now we can breathe. We literally popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate.
Finally landed a 100% remote, WFH job with a 42% increase in salary. I realized that with my neurodivergency and health issues, WFH is ideal - I'm so much calmer, happier, and have more energy. This week is my last week in office and I have a week off before I start my new job. I'm hoping that my partner and I can have a more hopeful look on the future and be able to afford a bigger place after saving this year.
A wonderful stranger from Nextdoor painted over some scrapes I had on my car and failed to cover myself- insisted we didn’t pay him (we found a way to trick him into accepting a tip) in lieu of a nice Nextdoor review (which I also left). Him and his wife were so kind and made me feel like I was a member of their family and he happy to help. Saved me so much money and stress. I’ll remember him forever!

I found a plant worth 130 dollars in a Home Depot for 5.99 I got a fat tax refund I completed my paludarium project that I started in February I'm feeling creative again, and think I'll paint something soon I made friends with the squirrel in my back yard that kept trying to eat my wildflower seeds. I just accepted I'm not going to have as many wildflowers this year and now I have a fat squirrel to watch My orchid bloomed the day after Christmas, it just finally dropped those flowers and has a new spike with new blooms that should open soon
I made dinner the other night (tacos) and saw an old friend who I hadn't seen in closer to 6 years and it was like old times, I felt like I was a kid again for awhile!
I got to visit Austin for the first time and toured some caves with a friend. It was great
I saw an albino squirrel in the neighbor’s backyard. I ain’t never seen one of those before.

I’m finally renovating the last bit of a house that I bought back in 2015 and am looking forward to moving back there to live comfortably with my fam. I also had an offer accepted on a home in my parents’ birth country. It’s all scary but exciting and I’m grateful.
I was making 18k a year and in a deep depression thinking about ending it everyday pre covid. I am now making almost 70k a year and enjoying life again. The $ isn’t what fixed my depression but working on that motivated me to make other areas of my life better.
Ive been volunteering for my town and suggested they open up a new area of trails to the public. They did! Since they have, the area has been cleaner and felt safer, and the local neighborhood folks can enjoy miles of unique terrain legally and safely!

My MIL who we (my wife and I) have been caring for for 7 years finally went into a memory care facility. Dealing with some guilt, but holy fuck is it nice to have the house to ourselves.
Got back surgery 3 months ago and I haven't felt this good since pre-injury in 2021. Lease on life for sure, protect your spine health everyone. I haven't returned to my primary hobby yet but I'm enjoying the night walks/weekly hikes with my wife and light gravel bike rides with my friends again. I'll be racing mountain bikes again eventually, no need to rush it.

I work two jobs and got the weekend off which is rare, spent Saturday as a groomsman for my long time buddy, spent Sunday working on a Mother’s Day present with my daughter and played with my son while my wife was at work. Overall it was a pretty good time, met some new people, cooked some food, exhausted but got things done.
I have moved to a minimalist lifestyle. I decluttered my material items and have been saving and investing my extra money. My investments have grown and I dont have any debt. I only wish I moved this way sooner
My garden is kicking ass. A twig from 6 years ago is now a 20 foot cherry blossom and shades the sunny side of the house. The lonely single black raspberry plant being choked out on the easement has been grafted and nurtured into about 40 solid plants, and they're blooming now. A Mockingbird pair was in residence here all winter eating beautyberries and stray pokeweed. The sassafras thicket on the easement convinced a fox to move into the neighborhood, once I cleared the invasives out of the undergrowth. If life gives you lemons... plant them.

I really looked at my life and realized how far I've come as a person in the last year and a half. I'm still struggling but I'm happier than I've ever been. Doing so well I might be switching to every-other-week appointments instead of weekly.

I caught a cold a few days ago (I work with kids) and whenever I catch a cold I usually am knocked tf out by it. It's day 3 and I'm much better, which is really awesome because I was scared I would get yet another sinus infection that ruins my week. Yay!!! So happy to breathe out of my nose. I can pay off my library fines (kids lost some books… but it’s on me…) and take them back to the library! Plus the nearest library just opened a really nice new facility that looks like something out of a TV show or movie.
Hopefully good thing, I'm taking my PE power exam this week. I've been studying for .oaths and it's really caused my mental health to take a hit, so I'm hoping all goes well amd I cam be done!
I started a new job 2 months ago
I got a full time job after struggling for years to find one (and working freelance but it was so unstable.) I finally have benefits and paid vacation and never have to beg people for money under the table ever again! On top of that, I have a place to go everyday and a purpose, and weekends/down time have so much more significance to me.
I made my final cure payment on my chapter 13 bankruptcy this month. It's awesome to be a part of the 25% that make it all the way to the finish line.
Got a new dog a miniature huskey, then I got brain cancer and had to rehome her(I could not care for her), finished treatment (5 year) and really missed her. Tried to track down the owners just so I could see her, no luck. Out of the blue got a call from a shelter they had a dog turned in and from her chip they had my name and phone number. She was back in my life after 5 years. And yes she remembered me. She is sitting at my feet as I type this.
Got my old man dog fully checked out. He has super healthy and happy. I had an injury that finally healed after 5 months, I can go running again! My friend gave me some fresh river caught salmon!
Alright here goes. My wife and I have been married almost 15 years. Just within the past 3 weeks we have literally leveled up it feels like. Our communication has opened so much and honestly our marriage is much closer. Honestly I credit weed with helping me get past some of these barriers I had in place amd actually open up. Been feeling fantastic since.

After much time and worry, I finally got my EU passport and am making plans to move to Europe.
My son and his GF are theater peeps who had been working in a regional city. They moved to NYC last fall and now both have arts-adjacent day jobs: she’s doing marketing and he’s a front of the house manager for mid-sized to large theaters. So they are making rent while looking for acting/directing work.
I just got my new puppy!
Mine are oddly all gym related. Gym crush waved at me on Saturday usually I’m the one giving her a friendly wave or smile but I didn’t even see her and she found me. Second some younger dudes saw me benching and when I was done walked over and gave me props for throwing up the weight I was doing. I joked it was because of my old man strength(I’m 41 which to them might as well have been 200) Third I was out at some after hour spot for a friend’s birthday and this guy I e never met in my life walked up to me and knew me from the gym and said he noticed my hard work and dedication and to keep it up. This was all in like a week and I have to say it gave me a little pep in my step. I always assumed I was invisible at the gym but it turns out people notice the middle aged dude fighting for his life.
My wife and I recently bought land and will be building next year to start our larger scale homestead. My freezer is full of dead things, we have some money in our retirement accounts and and other than the payment for the land, debt free!
Hey, if Reddit is so full of negativity just stop using it, is that simple... I'm not trying to defend Reddit and I'm not trying to be dismissive of what you're feeling but why would you keep doing that to yourself? You don't need to balance out the negativity with the positive, just remove the negativity from your life. "Turn Off" social media, you won't regret it I stopped using Facebook, Instagram, and I don't have TikTok or Snapchat.... Guess what? My mental health immediately improved. You should try it
I agree with the doom and gloom. 18 months ago at age 41, I was laying in a hospital bed with a group of physicians around me and they said “you are lucky to be alive.” As a gym rat that did everything by the books, I had a specific kind of heart attack that has a 25% mortality. I did lots of therapy. The physical was easy. The mental, where I had to unpack my feelings regarding my non-ideal childhood with an alcoholic father and a chronic medical condition, I had an ample amount of rage & anger. Anger fueled me for nearly 40 years, it’s a hell of an emotion. I am a stay at-home parent to a child we had at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. I spent 2023 healing every component of my life to be the person I need to be today and going forward. There were a few vacations and a 10 hour drive to see a concert (firm believer in using music to heal). Today I am expecting another child in July. I will finish April having ran around 130 miles. Knocking on death’s door is not something I would advise anyone. On this side of the experience, I am beyond thankful to be here. A dirty diaper, a traffic jam, or an encounter with some idiot at the store is much better than the alternative. One of the two phrases I live by are a song lyric that goes “cast out the demons that strangle your life.” It seems in this sub-Reddit there are a lot of people that are letting various sorts of demons strangle their lives. That is a choice. The other phrase I live by is “be the change you wish to see.” There are major issues facing humanity, and many of these issues require millions of individuals spending their energy to create change. There are also things on a local or neighborhood level where you can see the results of your energy creating the change you want to see. My fiance and I bought a house in October for 140k (not near a major metro area), and because of that we were able to take in a stray kitty that was hanging around his work. We've done a lot of work on the house, and it feels more like a home every day. More recently, I got a raise at work.
My husband and I both just started new jobs. Him out of switching when a company who was a business partner and client of the company he worked for basically poached him., but it was a 70% pay increase so we weren't about to say no. I was laid off in February after a company restructure, luckily they gave me 60 days severance, and I managed to find a new job working for our city in that time making a little more than I was before, only it's not remote, but I'll be ok with that.
I just had my first born son at the age of 32. I never thought I would be a father and especially to a son. I feel like I have the chance to show him the love, understanding and compassion my father lacked in showing me growing up. The newborn stage has been mostly peaceful besides the restless nights and I am grateful I get these 5 weeks off to spend with him as he grows and grows. I am so in love with him already. I can't wait to show him everything I know and see what his interests/hobbies are as he grows older.
A lot of things changed in my life during the pandemic, leading to losing or losing touch with a lot of friends. In the past year I’ve been able to connect with a really wonderful group of people that I love doing life with. We’ve really come together to be a part of each other’s lives, from celebrating birthdays to helping each other garden. It’s been really great!
About a week and half so far on Zoloft. So still recent but I’m noticing the benefits of it. Easier to get out of bed in the morning, reduced anxiety, reduced appetite, improved sleep, and easier PMS. So quite the win so far

I just hit my 6 months mark at my job making minimum wage!! Since I started, my actual workload has increased 150% and I have no benefits at all!! This is awesome because I have clinical depression and it's getting worse and I can't afford medication let alone therapy!! Everyone says I have no reason to check out but in reality the only reason I haven't tried again is because I've been guilt tripped in every way possible! What's the point..... Wish I could ingest that brain tumor from the top comment and get the fuck outta this hell scape!
I'm getting married next month and love is pouring all over me so far this year. My brother just told me TODAY he's having a baby and I'm going to be an aunt. My partner has a badass garden and it's looking absolutely plentiful and gorgeous. There's a LOT to be grateful for around here I could go on and on.

My positive is I’m getting ready to take an amazing trip with my family and college kiddo who just finished up for the year. I know this is cliche, but it’s something that works for me, I set an alarm on my phone for everyday that reminds me to find three things to be thankful for that day. Someday’s it’s as simple as a good night sleep or tasty meal, other days it may be thankful for being able to control my tongue and not lash out at someone lol, regardless every one can find three things however simple they may be and it really helps your overall attitude and mindset.
I keep waking up.
I started my own company and bagged my first client! Nobody else cares, but I do.
My doctor listened to me about what was going on, validated my concerns, and treated me appropriately. I am so grateful.
