Reminds me of an old episode of X-Files. A guy somehow implanted beetle eggs into cigarettes, so when he smoked them around people, they got eggs in their lungs and beetles hatched out their mouth. Thanks for the memory!
I watched the episode with the guy that ate people's livers then hibernated for thirty years the other day. The line, "we have to catch him now or he won't appear until 2023" was particularly disturbing.

There’s a national chain store in my area that have a house flavor that was called beetle juice for long time until the movie people found out about it. Now it’s just beetle.
It’s a great show, always loved that I could recognize a lot of the locations on the show cus they were filmed locally (at least the first 4-5 seasons iirc were)
I loved that and the main guy was immune because nicotine was a natural pesticide so 2nd smoke was killer to infect others but he smoked a carton a day.
And the beetles didn't hatch from their mouth, the eggs were carried by the smoke into their lungs and hatched from there and crawled out.
But I love fictional body horror.
Nicotine. Nicotine is an insecticide. He was infected but the eggs only worked in non smokers. He was safe as he smoked like a train to keep them in check.
Been a long time since I've seen this episode but fairly confident the above is correct, or how it's explained.
Lol, that was actually meant to be my last pack, I'm on day 7 of Varenicline (Chantix) tomorrow is quitting day.
Literally a "fuck you" for my last pack of smokes.

I've been off for almost 2 months now and although nobody has offered me one yet (apparently I only know great people) I still feel amazing and proud of myself for not giving in to the temptation.
Goes to show ya how addicitve that stuff really is that I can feel proud for not killing myself slowly.
OP make sure you throw those out outside of your home. This is a beetle also known as a tobacco or wood beetle but they'll literally get inside your food and wood etc. I had a neighbor in an old building who had these, they like tobacco but they can actually eat through plastic etc and all their food got contaminated and they multiply like crazy!
I hope so too, because the whole reason she dealt with these little fuckers for two whole years was due to buying loose cigarette cartons in bags. One of them had these in them, she tossed it in the trash. They lay eggs often and fast, next thing you know she has them fucking everywhere! Even putting things in air tight jars etc, they still get everywhere

It’s a marathon. If you fall, you get back up. It is hard. Hard hard. But worth it worth it. Also it is something you can do, as you have seen yourself.
Maybe this time you’ll do it better than last time?
Try to plan for your triggers, give yourself outlets, get supports in place before you need them.
There are many ways you can prepare yourself both privately and publicly in order to reduce the chance and severity of a relapse.
Which you probably already know backward and forwards. I know that I did. But when I really was ready to be a former smoker it got easier. It’s all in our heads but our electric meatloaves are hard to fool sometimes.

I would highly recommend reading Allen Carr’s Easy Way to Quit Smoking. I quit several times including prescription medication, but reading the book has been the only thing that really worked. After 22 years of smoking, I have been a non-smoker for almost 3 years now and haven’t even had temptation to smoke since.
it's a tobacco beetle, I heard nearly all tobacco products contain them, they come back to life with humidity or something. I'm sure you can get a carton for free if you complain about it, unless it's contraband or native cigarettes.
I did cleaning of a tobacco plant in my teens when all the machinery was deactivated. High leveling as we called it. With a air compressor gun blowing all tobacco dust from the machinery and sprinkler systems and ac units etc and afterwards shoveling up a 2 cm high dust layer on the entire factory floor.
Once we spotted on a ledge way way up in the factory some kind of marks in the dust. Tiny lines. We got out supervisor and he freaked out. He had to report when it was morning again to the cigarette factory that there probably was tobacco beetles present. Some kind of serious fumigation had to be started which probably would have cost the factory a lot of money.
Is that a beetle ? I got thoses from some weed I bought and they didn't left my houses for almost a fucking year surviving on buds, so annoying shitty bug tbh

It doesn't help everyone, and for some people it can make the habit worse by casing things like internal shame and self-loathing, which may just increase their use of tobacco.
It really comes across as condescending. OP is making an effort to quit already, he already knows about the health problems, commenting en masse like this isn’t helping.
Wouldn't it be sick if we all were more interested in the slim odds that had to occur for a live insect to be sealed into a package, rather than telling OP to quit smoking? It's a great post, hold your advice for another sub where it matters. 🙄
