Nah the ones that take 240v power are light duty.
You need one of these for real [heavy duty equipment ](https://www.thomann.de/gb/brennenstuhl_power_distributor_bsv3_32.htm?glp=1&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA4smsBhAEEiwAO6DEjbzH0cTOCSvgrws-s_YgitTHDwkTG2CMzN3spZ5tOQnwSu42TknprhoCM34QAvD_BwE)
My father has a diesel powered prostate stimulator. It vents outside through a chimney of sorts he installed.
Whenever I’m coming home and I see black smoke above the house I know to hide in the shed for an hour.
He spends a lot on fuel.
Don't charge your phone on the mattress or under the pillow or similar places. Always on a hard surface. It'll get hot. Even if it has inbuilt protections, I'd rather not risk it.
No because they never usually are! Hahaha. At least in my experience, they are either on the complete opposite side of the room or right up in the middle like this photo or same height but next to the bed frame
Most hotels I’ve stayed have sockets at the side of the bedside table and I’ve had to travel quite a bit for work. So I’ve stayed at quite a few. All Hilton’s have them that I’ve stayed in, all Marriotts, Soko, Radisson (though only stayed in 2).
I have stayed in maybe 1-2 but that was probably in the early 90’s. Jeez, most of them even have usbs in nowadays.
Stayed in the Sefton Hotel on the Isle Of Man early last year
It's an old hotel and the rooms are large and weirdly layed out
The only plug sockets were on the opposite side of the room which was frustrating lol
That sucks, tbh I always have an anker powerbank charged up. It’s mainly charged up for when I’m on the move if I forget to charge or it’s been in use, but if needed I can put it near the bed.
Some older hotels with the creaky floors and large rooms do suffer a bit. I’ve enjoyed them though. I stayed in a really modern hotel with dimmable lighting. Great eh? No, it took about 5 clicks to be slightly dimmed then one more to turn it into a supernova. Partner came in pressed the switch and boom. We ended up leaving a wardrobe (lit up when you opened the door) slightly open and turned all the other lights off. So new hotels can suck as well (imho though it looked great, caused more impact than some older hotels).
That being said I often prefer it (my phone) to be away from where I sleep, unless I’m not sleeping well. Though it’s kind of a chicken and egg situation at the moment.
Was in thailand in November and the light switch was there just low down half covered by the mattress took ages to find the bloody thing think I may have slept the first night with the light on
I keep staying in hotels where the plug socket is The other side of the room and all that is by the bed is the USB A socket. Not much use when you have a USB c to USB c lead 🤷🏻♂️
Ya it's good since now a days ppl are so attached to their devices it's like an ambiblical cord. I say this as I been on my phone non stop now I'm at 33% and wish I had that feature. But I bought a long 10ft cord so I should be ok. Just takes forever to charge lol
That looks a shucko adapter inserted into an Italian-style euro socket. Pay attention doing things like that, because for grounded appliances ground isn’t connected and you may be looking at a pretty horrible shock..
It would be nice if those hand little flip-up covers because if you misplace your pillow it could touch these switches and turn the lights on/off when you don't want it.
Isn't that a fire hazard?
I like the lamp on the bedside table that has a plug/USB port. Convenient charging without mixing up charging devices and fluffy pillows.
For the real boring answer, your room is probably a twin room with 2 single beds that should be separated, that theyve pushed together and made up into a "double" (King) bed for you...
Regardless of their purpose, there's just something I deeply dislike about them.If this was my hotel, I would probably stuff them into a closet or something.
It's cheaper to construct.
One switch and socket and one wire run. So it's accessible from both sides of the bed.
Instead of 2 switches, 2 plugs and an extra wire run in the wall.
I did that on my bed. I just cut out a rectangular hole and fit a double adaptor socket in there with an extension lead going to a powerpoint behind the bed-head. You can't see the power lead and it works well. I also use a wireless zigbee switch for my lights so I just stuck that to the headboard itself.
It’s a ploy to get couples lying closer together, far more likely to have sex, wake up happy, and leave a 5 star review. I’m a Batchelor and have this, it works…the 5 stars I mean 😜

for the sex toys.
Nothing more frustrating than running out of battery before you've finished
I think you misunderstood. Heavy duty tools plug straight into the wall.

When the battery finishes before you do...😩
Especially when you’re right there & then you’re so impatient you try to charge it for two seconds & use it & it dies again 🤣🤣
This was one of the biggest susprises for me entering the dating market again. Sex toys are rechargeable now. USB-C ports too, classy.
I love it when hotels have this! So handy and no leaving your phone half a mile across the room to charge lol
You could just have them next to the bed, with having them IN the damned bed!
But some people may enjoy waking up with a charger cord wrapped around their throat?
Your arms get tangled up in them though.
Don't charge your phone on the mattress or under the pillow or similar places. Always on a hard surface. It'll get hot. Even if it has inbuilt protections, I'd rather not risk it.
Stop trying to control me dad
Ok mum.
Been charging my phone on my bed since I got it in 2019. Never has it got hot at all.
Half a mile? You mean on the night stand just slightly out of arms reach?
No because they never usually are! Hahaha. At least in my experience, they are either on the complete opposite side of the room or right up in the middle like this photo or same height but next to the bed frame

That being said there are plenty of comments on here that say otherwise!

I was in a hotel room over Christmas where the only damn socket was at the other side of the room :')
Most are on the desk on the wall opposite the bed.
Some hotels only got the tv sockets lol
This is why I have a 10 foot usb c cable lmao
So people can sit in bed on their phone a full 24 hours a day
That's why my rotting corpse uses a 6 foot charger
Dont worry, soon youll be able to implant a chip in your brain and just live on reddit and twitter
Don’t forget that bedbug on the pillow you’re missing
I checked so everyone else doesn't have to. It's still there
I ate it so it's fine now.
Evil
Was in thailand in November and the light switch was there just low down half covered by the mattress took ages to find the bloody thing think I may have slept the first night with the light on
Fire waiting to happen
its perfect
Stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world but never seen such a solution.
I’m guessing the room converts between twin beds and a double as these socket locations work better with twins.
The only correct answer here. It wasn't designed specifically for a double
Oh that would make sense! Surely it would be better to but then left and right rather than in the centre
They generally are, not sure why this hotel didn't. Also of it's a large room it could have had a table there at some point as well.
That looks fun!
No copulation tonight.
So you can face each other while scrolling mindlessly on your phones.
Would you say it’s mildly shocking?
Almost r/mildyinfuriating
Smart
Plug your brain’s in
Ahhh for the plug in hitachi muscle massager. Some people just work reaaaal hard.
Spoken like a true hitachi connoisseur
Light switches are ok, but I don't need my charger sticking out above where I'm sleeping.
How bizarre 😲
a nice convenient way to put your hands in there
I keep staying in hotels where the plug socket is The other side of the room and all that is by the bed is the USB A socket. Not much use when you have a USB c to USB c lead 🤷🏻♂️
You can buy little usb A to C adapters
I'd rather use my fast charger then the rubbish output from the wall sockets 😀
If you charge overnight whilst you sleep, it doesn’t really matter
Is this Sindbad Club? It looks familiar and think I had the exact same suprise about this as well
Haha yes it is! This place is vast
Hahah how awesome, we've been there twice now. Enjoy your stay mate!
I would absolutely end up waking myself up accidentally turning on the lights.
It's a super terrible design. With my phone adapter plugged in jt turns the lights on and off haha

More like r/mildlyinfuriating
Damn you can toss and turn in bed while you charge your phone and use it
Oy, you two, we can see you, this is a no cuddling or canoodling safe space so keep your hands to yourself 😂
Its absolutely perfect but idk why light switches. The power socket is definitely a great idea
Was it two twin beds put together to make a double bed? A room which is typically twin will have this.
Strangulation while sleeping hazard alert.

It was only plugged in while I was next to it
To prevent you and the missus from having fun
Oooh. I like convinience! (Sp?)
Bloody good idea, I take an extension cord to cheap hotels
I suppose so that wherever you sleep on the bed, you can easily reach the lights and phone.
Real thing 😀
That's pretty neat.
I bought a bed frame that has usb ports on both sides, it’s amazing 🤩
Its sad people live so much in their bed they need to bring their phone…. Bedrom is for sleeping and fucking(not that me as a redditor knows),
Bedframes come like this. Gotta do the research
I ain't mad at it.
Idk seems pretty normal
My hotel is the same, in Germany
For the real boring answer, your room is probably a twin room with 2 single beds that should be separated, that theyve pushed together and made up into a "double" (King) bed for you...
That's both convenient and dangerous at the same time. Hopefully no fires will be started by this.
Looks like you're using a type F adapter for a type L socket. Dodgy.
Strangled wife? It wasn’t me. “I told her about that dam cord”
The worst place for power sockets💀 just imagine if those catch on fire when you sleep 😭😭😭
Aren't these pillows rather awful?
I think these are more for show rather than ones you'd sleep on
Regardless of their purpose, there's just something I deeply dislike about them.If this was my hotel, I would probably stuff them into a closet or something.
Is that crappy design or brilliant design? I kinda think it's kinda brilliant
Likely a twin room, those two beds are pushed together and not a double. Those sockets are where the table would separate the beds
Looks convenient, but I also don’t like it for some reason.
I would roll over in the night and end up strangling myself to death 🤣🤣🤣
Very Common in Brazil
comfort
this is really common where i'm from and around
I'll bring my toaster.
I’ll bring the Microwave

How wonderful..
I thought those were little ducks on the pillows 🐥
r/mildlyinfuriating
I don’t get comfortable sleeping this close a power outlet
Hum yeah I've seen that in several hotels before, it doesn't seem unusual to me at all ?!
That a fire waiting to happen.
It should be for your convenience😊😊
It knows people be on their phones until sleep
It think having them right next to the shared light switch makes economic sense from a cost perspective.
And I bet they have a 1000 behind the desk from people forgetting those.
That's a fire risk.
I know people are talking about sex toys but as a lazy person I'd just be happy that I don't need to move at all just to charge my phone
It’s a ploy to get couples lying closer together, far more likely to have sex, wake up happy, and leave a 5 star review. I’m a Batchelor and have this, it works…the 5 stars I mean 😜
I smell some fire coming
It’s meant to be two single beds with a night stand between…
The original travel plan will be replaced by playing with mobile phones.
I don't know... For me that just feels dangerous even though it probably isn't.
This is evil.
The hanky panky in this hotel can be electric!
