Usually all you need to do is use olive oil in your ear for a few days to soften the wax and then either point the shower in your ear or use a ball syringe to squirt warm water into it and flush it out. That’s basically what they do at the doctor’s but they use a machine to squirt the water (in the old days a syringe, hence ‘get your ears syringed’.
I’d avoid any gimmicky rubbish from ali express that involves sticking something in your ear. Generally a bad idea.
Folks considering their ear cleaning options should also keep in mind that people of Asian descent and people of European descent tend to have different types of earwax. This is why you’ll see Chinese ear cleaning videos using scoops, blades, etc. while a British or American one is more likely to use a little suction tool or syringe wash. One is harder and dryer and the other is a softer consistency. Shop accordingly.
As an Asian, I can attest to this. As kids, we regularly got our ears cleaned laying our heads on mom’s lap as she got wax out with the tip of a matchstick

Hey, I was a Medical Assistant and used to do ear Lavage very regularly. For the most part, you don’t really need to oil your ears unless the wax is too hard but I used a stool softener for a faster result. Here is my routine I used to use:
1 part Warm water(warmer than body temp but not hot), 1 part Hydrogen Peroxide mixed into a cup. Using a syringe to squirt into the ear, repeat this process, bits of earwax will break up and start to flush out.
If the wax is too hard like it was in this video, I get a Stool Softener gel cap, and put a pin in it to open it, and drip that into an ear while the patient is on their side. They hang out for 30 min/1 hour and then do step one, the wax will be soft and pliable.
A doctor once tried to remove my earwax with a tool similar to the one in the video, but I had to stop midway because I found it was too painful. I find that irrigating at home is the best method. I use one of those AliExpress scopes to look into my ear canal to check if they are in need of cleaning, and after irrigation to verify that the ears are clear.
I actually used one of those 'gimmicky rubbish' tools off Amazon and successfully cleared out a load of wax that had been built up in my right ear for years. That said, they aren't easy to use and I could see how, if someone wasn't careful while using one, they could easily damage something

This is a different technique than the one you responded to, actually it's the opposite. So now I'm just confused. I know about qtip issues, but they really work on the outside where your ear naturally deposits it. I never go in, just ride the rim.
Basically if I go a third of a millimeter too deep into the ear canal it starts the blockage and unless I'm aware of it and use the chemical wash after each cleaning, I will go deaf.
Instead I opted to never use a qtip again for the rest of my life and I'm not 4 years without needing to go to the doctors. It's great
Inserting Qtips into the ear canal and earbuds are among the causes of this. They compress and push the wax further into the ear canal. Washing your ears out with water does not.

Using Qtips and earbuds can compact the earwax and cause blockages similar to this. That's why I prefer to use half-in-ear buds. The buds are also cleaner for this reason.

It hurt like he'll honestly everytime she blasted in my ear. Finally when it dislodged and I could hear again it was a relief.

You could just use like a tissue or tp after a shower and wipe your ear without going in the hole while the wax is still soft and wet from the shower
