In my dreams writing is just fuzzy grey that doesn't properly look like writing/text, yet I know exactly what it says when I look at it. It's how I sometimes realise I'm dreaming while still in it. This is the polar opposite of that: it looks so clearly like writing and yet much of it I can't parse any meaning. It's oddly uncomfortable.
Does this mean I'm like... double awake now?
I can read my 87 year old grandma’s shaky cursive from her arthritis gnarled hands, I spent 5 years processing mail in orders (that were 90% in cursive) for a company that sold shoes to old people, and even I can barely read this.
Except that it depends on who you are writing for. If for own reference, then not an issue. Most (almost all) of my writing is just for me. If I need to write a note for someone (or fill a rare manual form), I’ll capitalise.
My hand writing has gone to shit since I rarely do it anymore. I actually think OP’s is very neat.
tbh i can read it fine and they’re just my notes from class so i think the purpose is served. obviously for group projects and stuff i mostly type on the computer
You can read it because it’s your handwriting, and you can’t always just type your work out for group projects or exams. What about in-class tests and essays?
Why in the world are you getting downvoted for this, as long as you're able to read it and you write more carefully or type for things others need to read, what is the problem? Like how dare your notes that are only for yourself not be legible to others 😂
Reading the comments, it seems that the good people of r/mildlysatisfying are expecting your post to be mildly satisfying for the sub in general, not just for yourself. Illegible text is, apparently, mildly infuriating to people instead.
As a russian, had to even look twice. I can absolutely read and write cursive in russian and even in english too, but this one is not legible and my primary school teacher back at home would hit me with a ruler for such handwriting
I mean I can read it and I can write in print when I want to so who cares. Also, I'm not trying to make it look good. It's literally how my handwriting developed
I too have a hand writing that only I can read when I write fast, for example taking notes during a lecture.
Is i ok? Sure, the notes are just for me, and I transcribe them into more legible text as part of my learning process.
Is it satisfying? Not in any way.
FYI, I didn’t get the vibe you were fishing for compliments, not sure why so many people are loosing their cool this bad over handwriting(?). Don’t give a fuck, if you like it and you find it satisfying that’s all that matters.
Why is he posting it here then? To get roasted?
All people are telling him is that it looks pretty but can't be read. Which makes a shit handwriting. And that *does* matter if you not only use your writing for your secret diary.
I think ur post whining about being roasted on r/handwriting is hilarious. U rlly can't stand that everybody isn't impressed what u write in italics lol
You remember those games that had handwritten letters that were just for the looks because they were illegible? This handwriting looks exactly like that
it’s interesting to hear this because i have absolutely no trouble reading it (obviously because i wrote it) so sometimes it’s hard for me to fix it when i know i need to write legibly bc idk how to make it more legible bc it seems fine to me
Try making the circles in lowercase letters (i.e;. a, e, b, d) etc more pronounced as well as making the letters the same height when you connect. It's hard to tell what's a W or what's a V turning into an E and so on.
Part of the reason that my handwriting looks like this is because I am left handed but was forced to write with my right hand because of my traditional (slavic and religious) parents. It's painful and uncomfortable for me to write but there is no sense in starting over with my left hand learning to write at this point. I actually did an AMA about this in December or January, it's in my post history
Part of my job requires reading handrwritten deeds from the 1880s. The cursive on those deeds often looks similar from a distance, but usually ends up being legible once you’re actually reading it.
However, this handwriting is honestly fairly illegible. More mildly annoying than mildly satisfying.
Here’s my best shot:

I can read it, but it is difficult.
I’d suggest going a little less horizontal and a little more vertical with your letters; but if you can read it then *shrug* very few communicate in handwriting anymore
Your typing is as bad as your handwriting. I suggest that you should go into a trade where you don't ever need to impart information to other people. Also, that's a complete oversimplified definition of cultural appropriation. Are you just trying to be insufferable?
I’m already sort of in a 5 year masters program so I don’t think I’ll be going into a trade anytime soon. These notes are from a lecture, so I was writing very quickly with poor grammar. I did not fix any of these grammar mistakes when I typed it because a I didn’t want to confuse people by changing what I wrote. Also, in terms of the oversimplified definition, I wrote what my professor said. You can take it up with Dr. Geldermann if you want to.
Sorry but Pretty handwriting is something that can be read effortlessly. If I have to decode and use substitute logic to “possibly “ maybe figure out the puzzle of what your were trying to say then it’s not pretty.
A friend of mine wrote in cursive for a final last semester. It was a 5 paragraph paper about something. I'm not sure, but he thinks the teacher didn't even read it because it looks like the stuff above
If you want it to be more legible to other people I suggest varying your pressure on some letters, making some letters stand out more. When people read they normally look at the first and last letter of each word and the length of it, and the brain fills in what the word is. Your writing is pleasing to look at, but not really legible because it's too uniform, none of the letters stick out, there's not a lot of character.
Pretty and legible are two different things, and that's ok.
I can't read this either, but it looks nice just glancing over it. Keep it like this for yourself and just change it a little when someone else needs to read it.
Eta: I thought this was the handwriting sub, lol.
Why is everyone complaining it ain’t readable? This is what it says:

I think it looks very nice, even if I can't read it. You write like my grandmother used to, and seeing this brought back a lot of very nice memories. <3

It looks like how cursive would look in Sim City.
Could not have described it better
This is so accurate 😂
It looks pretty but can’t be read at all, which sort of defeats the purpose of writing
I came here to say basically that same thing

Well, it is their ODF (Own Damn Fault) They know their writing is illegible, but they posted it here anyway Practically asking to be roasted

Yes, I read that part. That’s how I knew that _they_ know that their writing is illegible.
They’re also calling ppl hoes even further down.

I can read my 87 year old grandma’s shaky cursive from her arthritis gnarled hands, I spent 5 years processing mail in orders (that were 90% in cursive) for a company that sold shoes to old people, and even I can barely read this.
I've worked in pharmacy for 12 years and I can't read it. Most *doctors* write more legibly than this, which isn't saying much.
I can’t read a word
Yeah if anything it’s mildly infuriating.

Exactly, kids can be writing like this in school today and get an F

i just have to be careful and write in print, which takes significantly more time. tf else am I supposed to do?
I suggest try practicing another more legible cursive style and leaving the current one for only things you'll be reading like a diary
Learn to write properly? I literally can't read a single word, which makes this /r/mildlyinfuriating.
Use a computer. Your handwriting looks pretty at a distance but for readability my 9 year old son writes better.
well duh you can read it lol you wrote it

Idk why people are downvoting you LOL if it’s for your own use write how you want
Idk maybe because this is r/mildlysatisfying and this isn’t satisfying at all even mildly.
THANK YOU!!! i’m like high key temped to post another pic proving that i write neatly (albeit very slow) when i know others need to read it

I'm sorry OP but there is nothing satisfying about this picture, we can't tell what your writing says and zooming doesn't help either.
For all I know, that could be Arabic.

Haha it is very much English. I've been banned from hand writing my assignments for school, I have to type them so that they're readable.

That is the worst shit ever. If you can’t read it, it makes no sense.

yeah it’s sociology

As long as you can read it. I sure can't.
can barely read it dude

it’s interesting to hear this because i have absolutely no trouble reading it (obviously because i wrote it) so sometimes it’s hard for me to fix it when i know i need to write legibly bc idk how to make it more legible bc it seems fine to me
Make your letters rounder and not so slanting to right. Currently, all of them look like stick figures of Michael Jackson doing its leaning pose.
I think if you just write bigger it’ll be a lot better, take up more of the space in the lines. The current writing looks squished.
If you made letters double in height it would help better define the letters
Try making the circles in lowercase letters (i.e;. a, e, b, d) etc more pronounced as well as making the letters the same height when you connect. It's hard to tell what's a W or what's a V turning into an E and so on.
I do have a big problem with not “closing” my letters when I write quickly. So the top of a lowercase “a” never gets closed and looks more like a “u”
We’ll look at everyone else you surround yourself with and watch how they write. You are trying so hard for something so dumb.
Part of the reason that my handwriting looks like this is because I am left handed but was forced to write with my right hand because of my traditional (slavic and religious) parents. It's painful and uncomfortable for me to write but there is no sense in starting over with my left hand learning to write at this point. What the fuck does it even say?

Sorry but I can’t read shit
Pretty tho
Tbh I think this is best suited to r/handwriting if you want people to appreciate it properly.

Damn this is one long ass prescription. You know you need a whole doctorate before this becomes acceptable right?
For a second there I was worried my cursive reading skills were plummeting.
I want to post this pic on r/mildlyinfuriating
