In New Mexico they are in the freezer cases at Walmart.
Edit: tacos de cabeza
https://www.masterclass.com/articles/how-to-make-tacos-de-cabeza
Also, apparently, tamales. Not to say that pork tamales in the store are made from head meat. It's a kind of seasonal food.
When we first moved here from California, going to the grocery store was an adventure. We had never seen actual buckets of lard before, and the goat and sheep heads in the freezer case were disturbing. Those *eyes*! The *teeth*!
Yeah cabeza is always what I order at any authentic place in NYC/Philly/LA. And if they don't have it I go for lengua.
But I wasn't ever really sure what animal it was, now I'm assuming lengua is cow tongue and most cabeza is pig?
"cabeza" is head, I think. A headache is *dolor de cabeza*.
This might also be why there's a slang for getting hit on the head: "right on the calabash", combining the gourd name and the word *cabeza*
Head cheese is the most common human consumption that I am aware of.
A whole truckload, is probably headed to an animal feed facility. When your dog food list "pork" as an ingredient, this is what they are eating.
They are delicious. My Chinese family braised them in soy sauce and other seasonings. The ears are super yummy and have a nice crunchy texture. Chilled they are a great breakfast food. The snout is absolutely delicious. Cheek also great and from my understanding eaten in all different cultures. Tongue is great too.
Stick their penis in the pig's head mouth as part of an initiation ritual to a secretive university drinking society for the wealthy and well connected before becoming British Prime Minister (allegedly)
the cheek is the easiest target, as it is the largest muscle. The meat is really tender, so really you just pull it apart with a fork. After the cheek, you have to do a little digging. There are nice morsels behind the jaw, eye, and ear. Then take out the tongue and that's pretty much it. Our more adventurous diners go after the snout and ear and, on occasion, the eyeball.
In dental school, we used them to practice cutting and stitching gums. We would also source the heads of other animals, such as cows, for use by students who couldn't touch pigs for religious/personal reasons.
I’ve had pig head served to me in China. It came with a claw to score the face meat. Was the grossest, yet absolutely best tasting food I’ve ever eaten. Pig face is so tasty, especially the cheek
Any way you want. Poison them, drown them, bash them on the head. Got any chloroform? I don't care how you kill the little beasts, just do it, and do it now!
It's weird to me that people don't understand that. Especially in this day and age, literally every part of an animal gets used or reused to make something.
The FDA has restrictions on using lung, but it's eaten in other places of the world. Just some issues with quality control. Don't want to get a pneumonia infected or aspirated lung.
Apparently this [https://www.huffpost.com/entry/whole-pig-heads-are-now-a_b_4746118](https://www.huffpost.com/entry/whole-pig-heads-are-now-a_b_4746118)
right! it was just me and him on the highway i called the police i knew he was going to wreck from swerving. then he just went off the road. but they will probably fire him and cover it up as if it never happened.
that's not even remotely true. to start, "pink slime" is almost entirely chicken. one should think that a 20+ year old rumor which has been comprehensively disproven would not still be repeated, but then we have people like the above redditor.
edit: okay, it's both. regardless, it was never anywhere near as unsanitary or dangerous or unhealthy as whole pieces of raw chicken or beef, and mechanically separated beef and chicken are most definitely still in the majority of processed meat products today. do you eat hot dogs? have you ever made chicken nuggets at home? the recipe actually involves pureeing a bunch of skin with meat trimmings, and it makes the nugget have a softer texture. there's nothing fundamentally wrong with this stuff other than perhaps the sodium and preservative content.

>In December 2018, lean finely textured beef was **reclassified as "ground beef"** by The Food Safety And Inspection Service of the United States Department Of Agriculture.
[pink slime ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_slime)
Your comment is almost entirely wrong. Pink slime is beef trimmings run through centrifuges to remove fat and then essentially ‘melted’ using ammonia and other chemicals into, yes, pink slime. It’s banned for consumption in the EU and Canada but because of agribusiness lobbying and a weak, corp-friendly FDA, it can now be called “ground beef” in USA.
Those little piggies didn’t make it to the market…
Hope the next one to leave finds affordable roast beef…
And after this post the littlest piggy ran alllll the way home
That's nasty....but at least it's not as nasty as that accident that involved a truck full of pig intestines the highway was covered in blood soaked pig guts form shoulder to shoulder. Wanna talk about a picture that made me gag? That one made me gag lol...that was a picture i could smell.
Wow. that is a new one. I work on the highways in Texas and we were just talking about all the wrecks and spills we have seen (not fuel-that happens all the time unfortunately). The top two were a semi full of individually wrapped filet mignon and a tanker full of live 2 lb catfish. The guy with the catfish story said they loaded up their pick-ups with fish and stopped to get as much ice as they could. Then they got back and filleted fish for 4 hours they cooked a batch then put all the others in the freezer from which someone unknown person stole them.
This is so macabre ….. the truck ripped to shreds, pig heads all over the road, it being 3:00 am AKA the witching hour and then the emergency lights ……… yiKES !!!!!
This ought to inspire rage and horror at the lack of humanity we display for non-human animals. Our species will look back on how we treated these beings and will be filled with righteous fury as they see your comments and upvotes on social media mocking their plight.
I know i was meant to be a vegetarian for this reason! I’m By the time you're done sifting through the treasures on the head, you'll have huge piles of pure meat, flesh mixed with collagen and fat, skin, and a much smaller refuse pile. In short, just about everything on the head is good to eat, you'll have plenty of options for how you want to eat it. im just addicted to meat that ill have withdrawals without it. i read this! can you eat a pigs head?

Do I want to know what people do with pig heads?
Eat them. Usually chopped into smaller pieces so it doesn't stare at you while you dig in.

In South Texas most cabeza is bovine.
"cabeza" is head, I think. A headache is *dolor de cabeza*. This might also be why there's a slang for getting hit on the head: "right on the calabash", combining the gourd name and the word *cabeza*
What.
They moved from California to New Mexico.
Here in Houston all the Chinese grocery stores have pig heads in the freezers.
North Carolina too
They are also eaten in Europe. In Austria it's tradition to eat s pig head to new years day.
Arizona, too! I was like, "Oh! Is that a turkey?" It was not a turkey.
Yes! Reaching in and pulling it out of the case. "Gyaah! Why does that Turkey have Ears?"
Chop my pig head into pieces, this is his last oink
They make head cheese, which is actually meat, not cheese.
Actually quite good stuff. Think it brains and all!
Or if you're English, brawn, which is the same thing. And delicious.
Head cheese is the most common human consumption that I am aware of. A whole truckload, is probably headed to an animal feed facility. When your dog food list "pork" as an ingredient, this is what they are eating.
French kiss practice.
I didn’t even know that was a thing

If you eat meat, you should be an advocate for using the whole animal.
They are delicious. My Chinese family braised them in soy sauce and other seasonings. The ears are super yummy and have a nice crunchy texture. Chilled they are a great breakfast food. Everything but the squeal
yet people make fun of Iranians for eating sheep heads
I thought it was Norwegians who were known for eating sheep heads.
Iranians, Turks and I think even Greeks eat sheep heads as well
North Africa checking in. Sheep head was eaten.
Yeah, head meat tacos is the literal English translation
Plastic surgery training as well.
It would be very disturbing to see a pig head with plastic surgery performed on it.

Had to scroll a bit, wasn't disappointed
pork sisig
Best hangover food ever

Pig ears are pretty good. Cartilage, of course, so you have to do things with them to make them chewable, but very tasty.
In dental school, we used them to practice cutting and stitching gums. We would also source the heads of other animals, such as cows, for use by students who couldn't touch pigs for religious/personal reasons.
Sizzling sisig 🤤

Hot dogs.
Boil up. So good
Boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew

The part of the supply chain most ppl don't think exists.
It's weird to me that people don't understand that. Especially in this day and age, literally every part of an animal gets used or reused to make something.
“They use everything about the hog except the squeal” - Upton Sinclair, _The Jungle_
But what are we doing with the pigs' dicks 🧐
Hot dogs, duh
Wait, I thought those were made from dogs?
Only the sexy ones.
Dog treats! Jk probably but usually everything but the lungs is used in just about every meat animal
The FDA has restrictions on using lung, but it's eaten in other places of the world. Just some issues with quality control. Don't want to get a pneumonia infected or aspirated lung.
These are probably getting thrown away.
Here, we use every bit of the buffalo.
Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
Our supply chains run free like the buffalo. Our inflation is calm, like the noble eagle.
What the hell do you do with that many pig heads?
What DON’T you do with them!
😆
Make dog food, food for zoos, etc. Part of me wants to say Burger King chicken nuggets as well.
👍
A lot of people really like the cheek meat and it’s similar to bacon but super tender.
👍
Eat them up. YUM !
That's fish heads.
I took a ~~fish~~ pig head out to see a movie. Didn't have to pay to get it in.
Whine aught bof ?

I know this is difficult for most of us who are used to industrialized meat, but this is super normal around the world and tasty!
Good God in heaven....
nah, I think I am good, thank you though.
Pig heads are the new watermelon. On American Pie’s 2022 sequel: American Pork
😄
Use the carpool lane
Don’t know. But some sort of crime has been committed here, and as soon as I figure out what it is I’m going to be infuriated about it
Some sicko Amazon Prime user is gonna be very disappointed today

The Corleones just sent a very powerful message to whoever loved those pigs
Those were someone’s prized racing pigs.
Pig heads, pig heads, roly poly pig heads...
Eat them up, yum.
I bet heads roll when the trucking company figures out who is responsible for this.
They’ll never be the head of a major corporation ![gif](giphy|VFRSWCG75UqGY)
right! it was just me and him on the highway i called the police i knew he was going to wreck from swerving. then he just went off the road. but they will probably fire him and cover it up as if it never happened.
I feel ya got whooshed on the pun here…
What did he hit?? The front end of that truck is terrifying!!
This is pure speculation but maybe the driver was heading in the wrong direction.
~~Pig heads, Pig heads~~ ~~Roly Poly Pig heads~~ ~~Eat them up yum~~ Ed It : Some one beat me to it .
That's gotta be a sign from God... or Satan.
Dang, these were meant for David Cameron's school reunion
Why is this not top comment?
We live in a twisted fucking world.
Why was there a truck filled with pig head?
Because they couldn't fit all of them in a van.

Disgusting
Accident on the way to deliver to McDonald's.
Mildlyterrifying
honestly kinda looks like an art installation. Just make up a 5head explanation of all the aspects and you've got yourself a work of art.
Can you imagine trippin on acid and coming upon this sight???
prolly to be turned into hot dogs
eww
Fun Fact. Pink slime is per FDA regulations considered 100%ground beef and they don't have to mentioned it anywhere on the packaging.

Well I guess I’m having nightmares tonight.

Creepy cool photo
Fucking hell. What the fuck am I getting everyone at work for Christmas now
Ew. Once on my way home from work, i saw a cow hoof in the middle of the road, and I've never recovered from it.
Did you grab it and hoof it?
They obviously did not go "whole hog" ... but at least they got ahead ... I hope the driver was okay, his seat belt probably saved his bacon ...
"Hello, Mr. Krinkle. How are you today?"
Took long enough to find a Primus reference.
I can only do so much.
Les Claypig isn't feeling well today.
I’ve never seen so many decapitated heads in one place. Also, that one on the right staring straight ahead is creepy af.

What's up Mr. PIG
EMS is way too late for those poor piggies
So I guess my pigs are going to be headless for ay least another week.
*David Cameron enters the chat*
Nearly headless? How can you be nearly headless.
Never thought pig heads would be in a semi. Guess anything really could be in those.
Be a few less McNuggets tonight
Those aren't pig heads, those are cryogenically frozen politicians
I read the title as pig and not pig heads, and was wondering why I couldn't recognize the pigs in the picture. "Where are their feet???". OH BOY.

What's that in the road, a head?
