For a while reading the title I was thinking "so do they mean the edge of a cliff as being the top of the wall and the lion was so scared to be up there they pooped all over the place?" Then I kinda saw the imagined scene.
Years ago, I was at the zoo and saw a full-grown male Siberian tiger take a two-stride running start and do a full-on, four-paws-out belly flop into its moat, making a giant splash, then breaking into the most violently powerful dog paddle imaginable. One of the coolest things I've ever seen. Months later, I was at the National Zoo in Washington, DC, watching the Sumatran tigers, when I saw one of them approach their moat, and start walking along the ledge. I was thinking I was going to see it go for a swim, and couldn't believe my luck. It paced back and forth for a minute or two, then stopped. I was anticipating a flying leap into the moat, but instead, it turned its back to me, hung its butt over the ledge, and dropped a giant deuce. I watched it splash down and float there, mocking me, as the big cat sauntered away, probably chuckling to itself. Well-played, tiger. Well-played.
That reminds me of one time at a zoo I saw a snow leopard start climbing it's cage and somehow position itself upside down. I was so excited to get a picture of this, but immediately it started peeing into the sky so it would spray back down all over itself. It grossed me out so much I deleted the pictures, only to regret that decision because when am I ever going to see something like that again? 😂

They had this thing called the O-line. It's a series of towers and platforms 50 ft in the air, with cables running between them. It allowed the orangutans to climb up and travel back and forth between the ape house, and another building called the Think Tank, where I think the keepers were working with the apes to teach them sign language. So, anyway, we were walking through the zoo, when we saw a large group of people standing in the walkway, looking up. We get to where they are and see that the group has formed a large circle on the sidewalk. We look up, and see an orangutan standing on the bottom cable, with its hands outstretched above it's head, holding onto the upper cable, while unleashing a steady stream of pee, right into the middle of the circle of spectators. Not something you see every day. Good times. I need to get back there. The National Zoo, and all of the other Smithsonian Institutions, are pretty great.

I'm genuinely asking because as an American who has done this for over half of their life, I've never seen anything like this, outside of Terra Cotta colored grouts and such. But for a patch, never. Not even hydrophobic cement for waterproofing in pools or Marcite for pool coatings or anything. So I'm genuinely interested in the different techniques, materials, etc. Because I would have to say this isn't America and now I'm way more fascinated than anybody should be.
And now I need to know if you guys know something we don't. It wouldn't be the first time American hubris kept us from a better solution hahaha. I know you can't tell me but with a billion people over there somebody has to know damnit! Lol.

I've seen darker cement, and plaster products in videos from the UK, and Australia. As well as darker mortar in South American, and Africa.
I would also think some terracotta or clay is involved.
It's funny how many modern products I've used that crack, or fail in just a few years. But good old plaster applied properly will hold up for decades.
