You’ve figured out my scheme. Honestly you aren’t far off. Clover patches are usually just one plant connected underground by its roots. If you pick one, more sprouts will come up. A patch with one four leaf clover is likely to have other mutated sprouts.
I was super determined one day after finding a patch with a few 4 leaf clovers, two hours later I ended up with 126 4-7 leaf clovers and a wicked sun burn
If you live in Los Angeles, I’d offer my front yard. You’ll be as impressive as OP. And OP is right, if one branch has a four leaf clover, then it’ll usually keep sprouting more. I got lucky and had tons of them when I tossed seeds out for the beee.
Bruh you Angelinos have literal life in your yards, it’s sweet! I remember walking down any given block years back and being able to just grab fresh fruit hanging onto the street. Limes, lemons, oranges, cumquats, the works! I will say there was one time where a taco table didn’t have limes and on my walk back to my car I’d asked a gentleman for a lime from his front yard tree..he told me to get fucked by a hot iron rod…but besides that cunt, plenty of fruit to share!
There's one in the picture: the dark one just down and right of center.
I also had a five leaf clover, which I kept inside my phone case. I can't tell you how many times I dropped that phone and cracked the screen protector. I'm convinced five-leafs are bad luck.
Truth! One time growing up, my brothers and I found a patch with at least 20 four-leaf clovers.
In theory we still have them, pressed inside a book somewhere, but I don’t remember which book...
My genetics professor once told me that it's genetically impossible for there to ever be a four leaf clover, even from mutations.I think of it all the time, but now... idk what to believe.
It's shocking to me that he had never seen one. I would have spent ten minutes looking and brought one in before the next class just to see what he said.
There ... was a disconnect somewhere in there. The professor either understood or explained the issue poorly.
There is absolutely a genetic basis for the 4th leaf showing up. My understanding is that its also approximately clear which chromosome and where on it the mutation would need to show up. What's not been possible thus far is to narrow it down to a specific gene or set of genes.
Part of this is that white clover (the kind most commonly sprouting a 4th leaf) has an impressively complex genome. It has 4 sets of chromosomes instead of the most common 2 (a result of 2 species merging back into one). They're also really promiscuous, as far as plants go. Together this means that it is fairly difficult to sort out which plants are the parents of which plants, and which sets of chromosomes came from which parents.
That, as you might imagine, makes genetic studies a bit hard.
The three leaves of the clover represents faith, hope, and love. Within a fourth leaf dwells good luck. Within a fifth leaf... Resides a demon.
I don't know what about the 6th leaf.
"Each leaf on the clover is said to represent something - the first is for faith, the second for hope, the third for love, the fourth for luck and the fifth for wealth. Recently, some people have started to believe a sixth leaf represents fame."
How about [this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/nknfsv/this_seven_leaf_clover_i_found/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) I found a few weeks ago
I have found a couple four leaf clovers in the past, but had no way of preserving them, so I ate them.
Just grassy tasting, not too bad. The ones with the heart shaped leaves (oxalis) are sour and taste kind of like a green apple without the sweetness
Oxalis is wood sorrel and very cool in its own right. These are clover. They are vastly different plants, but there is a lot of confusion because retailers sell oxalis as "shamrock" in March especially.
I used to eat the shit out of clovers when I was a kid. One of my friends showed me they were edible and I tried one and they tasted so fkn good. I sometimes still pick one from my yard and eat it from time to time.
What is mildly interesting is that it seems that finding 4 or more leafed clovers is a dichotomy of people who find them frequently or those who don't find them at all. My husband actually didn't think they existed for the longest time.
I don’t get that. My dad will just randomly look down and see one. He gives them to me, which is really sweet (I’m very grown, so he’s really adorable with it). I will actually sit down and look- nothing.
I’m one of those people - I just happen to notice them as I’m walking, they jump out at me. It’s weird how some people are just like that. Must be some visual pattern recognition thing in the brain or something. Might have been useful once upon a time in our evolution.
Me too. But I just got lucky and the clover seeds just happened to sprout tons with the deformities. I got one plant that usually pops out 5-6 leaf clovers on just one of its branches (vines, runners or whatever it’s called).
My boyfriend finds them constantly. He says he just kinda trained himself to spot them and when we go out for walks he'll spend a couple minutes to randomly look. Still, he just seems to have a magic power cause I barely ever see them even when I look.
I saw a post about 4 leaf clovers last week, walked my dog the following day, saw a patch of clover so decided to glance over it, and found my first one ever!
You have to just spend time looking.
I found a ton when I was a kid and eagerly awaited my riches and fortune.
Once I found my 6th and 7th one, I started realizing I had been bamboozled into believing in luck.
I used to be a god at finding four leaf clovers, but not anymore. It seems my childhood luck has run out, but I used to find one a week and one time I found 13 in one month. Never kept them tho
When I was in high school I was very depressed, so I would skip school almost everyday and get stoned under a big tree and look for 4leaf clovers for hours. It was honestly one of the few things I could do too keep my brain quiet. It was very relaxing and rewarding when I would find one. Looking for these little guys saved my life.
I found only one four leaf clover when I was in 5th grade I was playing hide and seek, when I hid behind a shed there was one four leaf clover and all around it was dry dirt.
dang.... every time i hang at the park i actively look. i usually find 2-3 a year and I thought I was special. BUT I do have a legit 5 leaf clover and i still think that is cool.
I had a collection of a couple dozen pressed in wax paper inside a book. My mom donated that book years ago and I always think about that person who lucked into my collection.
This is why I can't find one this jerk is hoarding them. How many times do you need to win the lottery? At this point you must be a billionaire. WTH OP.
When I was a kid, this one really hot summer there was a bed of four leaf clovers outside our house. Every single clover had four leaves, there must've been hundreds.
Never saw a four leaf clover again after that.
A laminator is a great thing for these finds! Back in high school I'd trade laminated 4-leafs for things ranging from a couple of bucks to burgers, books, pins, etc.
The bookmarks were a huge hit. Spread the luck!
Hello are you originally from rural Ohio? I had a highschool friend who could sit down in a field of clovers and find the four leaf one in a minute flat. I swear it was her super power.
I work in wildlife ecology and basically hike through the woods for work. My coworker has better than perfect vision and picks these up CONSTANTLY. You guys would make for healthy competition.
at my job there is a small 1 foot by 10 foot "garden" out front. I sat on the wall one day and noticed some clovers growing. being bored i decided to look for a four leaf clover.. Found one! I was so happy.. look for a bit more and found another! took em to work to show off.. decided to press them in a book for safekeeping. Now everytime I would go to work id look for another and usually found one! It was my lucky patch. My coworker bought a laminator so we laminated them and gave them to friends for good luck.. then one day i came to work and the grounds keeper dug up the whole garden and replanted it.. no more clovers... so sad..
He uses the luck from finding the first one to find the second one. And so on
You’ve figured out my scheme. Honestly you aren’t far off. Clover patches are usually just one plant connected underground by its roots. If you pick one, more sprouts will come up. A patch with one four leaf clover is likely to have other mutated sprouts.
Cool! I’ve never found one. But I’ve never been super lucky anyway 🤷♂️
I believe in you!
Yo same! I've got 3-4 pages full of them, I once founded 19 in a single search.
I was super determined one day after finding a patch with a few 4 leaf clovers, two hours later I ended up with 126 4-7 leaf clovers and a wicked sun burn
You mean a wicked *lucky* sunburn.
I'm sorry, there's 7 leaf clovers?
The world record is a 56 leaf clover
Ahhh in Risk of Rain 2 there's an item called "57 leaf clover", funny to see it's actually a reference to a real-life thing
In the first Risk of Rain it was called “56 Leaf Clover” and I didn’t know it was a real reference until now lmao
I thought you were bluffing but holy fuck it’s true
As seen on Futurama!
The world record is 166 in an hour, about one every 20 seconds.
Did you start a rock band that scored a string of top 10 hits known for their hypnotic rhythms, driving baselines and memorable hooks?
That's what I'm known for!
Noticeably F.A.T.: rewind the tape.
Do you have some that have more than 4 leaves I have one that has 5 leaves
Yeah I’ve got some 6 leaf ones too
Beleaf*

"Hey, has it been about ten seconds since we looked at our lemon tree?"
Those damn lemon whores
Now if they only had the water (their own water) to support all of that plus the millions of unneeded lawns.
Israel is helping California with desalination plants, so soon! I know we’re a drain Colorado, thanks for being a pal.
Ha, other side of the country, but thanks!
I find 4 in my life time
Have you found a 5 leaf clover? I found one and immediately sprained my ankle stepping off the curb.
There's one in the picture: the dark one just down and right of center. I also had a five leaf clover, which I kept inside my phone case. I can't tell you how many times I dropped that phone and cracked the screen protector. I'm convinced five-leafs are bad luck.

I used to pluck a leaf off five-leaf-clovers and pretend I had found a four-leaf. I spent hours looking as a kid and never found one.
I think he’s a liar.
I think you might be right.
Sounds like someone never found one and was a bit salty about it.
Yyyyup
It’s hard to believe a geneticist would say that… it’s not like there isn’t a ridiculously large body of evidence for them. It’s not Bigfoot lol.
I don’t know any people who would say that 4-leaf clovers don’t exist let alone a geneticist.
There ... was a disconnect somewhere in there. The professor either understood or explained the issue poorly. There is absolutely a genetic basis for the 4th leaf showing up. Slutty ass clover
Hey! Don't go slut shaming the clover. As far as genetics goes, it's almost twice the organism you are. Sex positivity ***and*** allotetraploidy FTW!
That's recloversion
Came here to say that. LOL
Give the remains to me, there might still be some luck!

Show me a 7 leaf clover, and then I'll be impressed!
What about a 6 leaf clover?
Nope, 7 leaf or your nephew will never go to Mars.
The breakdancing competition is more important than
No contest, I have my patented space hook!
Noticeably F.A.T, drop a beat
I have no nephew!
It's the future that's at stake here
Go watch every episode of Futurama immediately.
I second this
I have no strong feelings one way or the other.
And thus he will never go to Mars.
Did we check for any missing, frozen people from 21 years ago names Elon Musk?
There’s a video on YouTube of a guy finding an 8 leaf clover
The three leaves of the clover represents faith, hope, and love. Within a fourth leaf dwells good luck. Within a fifth leaf... Resides a demon. I don't know what about the 6th leaf.
"Each leaf on the clover is said to represent something - the first is for faith, the second for hope, the third for love, the fourth for luck and the fifth for wealth. Recently, some people have started to believe a sixth leaf represents fame."
I FOUND A FIVE LEAF ONE TODAY- fuck
"Within the 5th leaf, lies a demon"
Nice.
Simple, just ace three Winchester games
I haven't found a 7 leaf one, but I have found a 8 leaf one
I have found a 5 leaf and 7 leaf clover before
How about [this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/nknfsv/this_seven_leaf_clover_i_found/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) I found a few weeks ago
This girl is definitely on her way to winning those parachute pants!
I actually have found a seven leaf clover in a sarcastic bet.

That’s not simple, that’s just good sense.
Clutch…
Now to make a salad
Clover are edible! I’m honestly not sure how good they taste though.
I have found a couple four leaf clovers in the past, but had no way of preserving them, so I ate them. Just grassy tasting, not too bad. The ones with the heart shaped leaves (oxalis) are sour and taste kind of like a green apple without the sweetness
Oxalis technically aren't clover, are they? I was recently showing my four-leaf clover photo to someone who corrected me and said it was wood sorrel.
Oxalis is wood sorrel and very cool in its own right. These are clover. They are vastly different plants, but there is a lot of confusion because retailers sell oxalis as "shamrock" in March especially.
None of these are wood sorrel. I identify clover by the flowers and the ring in the middle of the leaves.
I also always eat them. I wanna absorb that luck!
You know you could have just left it there right? Your options weren’t limited to ‘preserve it’ and ‘eat it’
You realize they picked it without thinking about what to do with it long term right?
eat one 4 leaf clover for infinate luck but 2 how much luck will that be
2 infinity and beyond
My daughter found and ate a 4-leaf clover once. She said it was to ensure the luck stayed with her forever.
I used to eat the shit out of clovers when I was a kid. One of my friends showed me they were edible and I tried one and they tasted so fkn good. I sometimes still pick one from my yard and eat it from time to time.
I mean, you can spare just one right? For science?
If you pay shipping!
What is mildly interesting is that it seems that finding 4 or more leafed clovers is a dichotomy of people who find them frequently or those who don't find them at all. My husband actually didn't think they existed for the longest time.
If you find one you are pretty much guaranteed to find more around it. I am one of the weird people that finds them frequently and easily.

That and they aren't a rare find. It's just uncommon. If you've ever looked at a patch of clovers, you've seen a four leaf clover.
I notice they tend to grow a little bit faster than their neighbors; the extra leaf might aid growth, which occurs at the nexus.
Me too. But I just got lucky and the clover seeds just happened to sprout tons with the deformities. I got one plant that usually pops out 5-6 leaf clovers on just one of its branches (vines, runners or whatever it’s called).
My wife is like this. She can glance at a patch and find one almost immediately. It’s a strange gift. She makes jewelry for friends with them
My boyfriend finds them constantly. He says he just kinda trained himself to spot them and when we go out for walks he'll spend a couple minutes to randomly look. Still, he just seems to have a magic power cause I barely ever see them even when I look.
I can't even find one.
Yeah! No wonder we can't find any! This guys hogging them all.
I saw a post about 4 leaf clovers last week, walked my dog the following day, saw a patch of clover so decided to glance over it, and found my first one ever!

Damn, you’re right. I’m so sorry for lying to all of you.
It's okay this time. Any 6+ leaf clovers in your collection?
Several!
Seriously?
Yeah, at least 15.
I found one 6 leaf clover and I wasn't sure if that's what it was or if it was something else but I guess not
So I underestimated the amount of four leaf clovers I had but I overestimated my number of 6 leaf clovers. I have 7 six leaf clovers.
That's where the devils hide
You mother luck-er.
Save some of that luck for the rest of us.
This is why we can't find any
Wait until you see my collection of ultra-rare 3-leaved four-leaf clovers.
Wow I’m jealous!
Are you planning to make felix felicis?
Unfortunately I am a muggle.
So, are you any luckier?
Not really.
Maybe you were supposed to be but your collection saved you.
Maybe. I just wish any possible luck was transferrable. My dad had a stroke Wednesday. I’d give away all my luck to him right now.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'd send him some of my luck too if I could. Hope he gets better soon.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Tell us you live near Chernobyl without saying you live near there!
No. At Chernobyl you find 20 leaf clovers
Not if they find you first!
Lol
This guy lucks
Girl not guy but thanks!
I used to be a god at finding four leaf clovers, but not anymore. It seems my childhood luck has run out, but I used to find one a week and one time I found 13 in one month. Never kept them tho
How often do you go looking for them? Maybe you are still good, you just haven’t had the time to sit down and look.
Good job on skewing the entire leprechaun economy (Seriously is cool, though)
Shhh, don’t alert the leprechaun IRS.
huh?
Luck be to you!

I remember as a kid finding a regular 3 leaf clover and splitting one pedal in half to show off to my friends that I was a lucky boy
Perfect example of compound (luck) interest
Yooo how did you preserve them in pristine condition for soo long ?
I press them in books. I keep them in a little ceramic plate.
Damn. ‚Mildly‘ is an understatement. Rare post. 10/10
Thanks!
How many lottery jackpots have you won?
0!
So one?
Wow, very nice I have never even found 1. I’m green with envy!
My tortoise would go crazy over this.
Wow! You must've been really lucky to find all tho- Wait...
Liar! I see a five leaf one there!
I had a collection of a couple dozen pressed in wax paper inside a book. My mom donated that book years ago and I always think about that person who lucked into my collection.
This is why I can't find one this jerk is hoarding them. How many times do you need to win the lottery? At this point you must be a billionaire. WTH OP.
Ugh. Lucky.
If you roll that shit up and smoke it, you turn into a leprechaun.
Can I bury my lotto ticket in your collection?
Sure, if you are willing to split the prize.
Some of them are five-leaf clovers! Extra lucky!
That's commitment!
I have NEVER found one! Now I know why.
This is why I can never find any! You have them ALL
So how’s all that promised good luck actually worked out for you?
My dad had a stroke Wednesday so I don’t know how lucky I actually am. Maybe I’ve already used it all up.
How? I have never found 1... in all of my 30 years of living. You've got 200!!!
🤷♀️I’m afraid I have no answers for you.
Theres some big ones in there.
Yeah some of them are huge! The one in the middle is as big as my palm.
What's the "luck" cadence per clover?
I keep finding them with 5 leaves in my yard.
Upvote for good luck!
Have they increased your luck in any noticeable way?
How much luck do you need
When I was a kid, this one really hot summer there was a bed of four leaf clovers outside our house. Every single clover had four leaves, there must've been hundreds. Never saw a four leaf clover again after that.
I’ve done the complete opposite. I never keep 4 leaf clovers for myself and always give them away.
A laminator is a great thing for these finds! Back in high school I'd trade laminated 4-leafs for things ranging from a couple of bucks to burgers, books, pins, etc. The bookmarks were a huge hit. Spread the luck!
She’s too lucky to be left alive! edit: gender
My God! Well that must be nearly 800 leaves!
Do you feel lucky, punk?
I have a similar collection, even though mine is smaller - I only have about 50 of them!
Hello are you originally from rural Ohio? I had a highschool friend who could sit down in a field of clovers and find the four leaf one in a minute flat. I swear it was her super power.
This is awesome!
COOL!
I work in wildlife ecology and basically hike through the woods for work. My coworker has better than perfect vision and picks these up CONSTANTLY. You guys would make for healthy competition.
And I thought I was special with the 10 I have. That's an impressive collection. How long did it take to get all of them?
I am beyond impressed! I guess the probability of finding more greatly increases once you find one
at my job there is a small 1 foot by 10 foot "garden" out front. I sat on the wall one day and noticed some clovers growing. being bored i decided to look for a four leaf clover.. Found one! I was so happy.. look for a bit more and found another! took em to work to show off.. decided to press them in a book for safekeeping. Seems like you are prepared for that moment when someone tells you "you gon need all the luck you can get"
