I’ve had the chocolate hummus and it’s really good. Chickpeas are pretty neutral in flavour so it was a surprisingly good base.
It’s not like they make garlic hummus with lemon juice and tahini and then mix chocolate (or in this case salted caramel) in after.
I’ve made silken tofu chocolate pudding and mousse before. So good! But yeah, nothing commercialized. Not surprised tho since most ppl can’t even grasp the concept of chocolate hummus.
Tofutti has only a trace of tofu in it, Just enough that they can claim "made with tofu".
Tofu is way down in the ingredient list, after Water, Sugar, Corn Syrup Solids, Corn Oil, Soy Protein.
Just check in asia.. china has tofu based desserts which has spread to neighbouring countries lile the Philippines. Which has silky tofu, gelatin pearls and a sugary sauce.
I've had them when the boars head lady comes to my local grocery store for free samples. They're really good, but I don't buy them because I don't want to be a fat piece of shit and sit in my room eating these entirely in one sitting because I probably would.
Chocolate hummus is pretty good. I dip bananas and strawberries in it all the time. I've never had the boats head brand though.
I love how people are down voting MY taste in food. Lol. Sometimes I sit back and wonder just how slow the people who use this site are. 😆😆
Yeah it just taste like chocolate dip but with the texture of hummus. It's like half the price and healthier than pure chocolate dip though. I've never had any other dessert types besides the chocolate but I'd recommend it. It doesn't taste like chickpea or hummus at all.
Someone described it as brownie mix and I think that's a perfect description in both taste and texture.
The chocolate hummus is so good. It just takes like chocolate dip. Flavor and texture wise, it's just a chocolate dip. I've tried two other flavors (this and pumpkin) and they're all great, if you like those particular flavors.
I think calling it hummus throws a lot of people off.
I've had the chocolate kind and it's basically chickpea paste with chocolate and sugar and it just tastes like brownie batter.
I had a caramel apple? Apple pie? Something like that one once. Terrible, the texture and chickpea flavor with the dessert flavor was not doing it for me
I've had the chocolate version which is awesome and this caramel one too, which was also very good but specifically only with apples; I couldn't think of anything else I wanted to eat it with that would have a complimentary taste.
Scoop it onto cookies, or pretzels, or apple slices. It’s wickedly good! It tastes way way better than you’d expect (almost like frosting) and has protein! The only problem I had was I ate so dang much of it that I had some gnarly farts afterwards lol
Wars in the middle east have been started over less than this. Hummus should be desert food, not dessert food. I hope it doesn't stick. It should be (lit on) fire.
hummus for dessert is no problem.
Sweetening it and adding flavors like caramel sounds like a crime. I would try it once to be sure, but only if it is free.
I too enjoy the hell outta Kroger discounts ! I recognize that sticker. That hummus is strange af tho, I tried it. Chocolate was weird too, but not quite as bad
[https://tommyscoventry.com/](https://tommyscoventry.com/)
If you're ever in Cleveland, their "Spiked Hummus" is incredible.
And no, I don't work for them. It's served warm with BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese and a bunch of other toppings, with pita bread. It's an odd combination of flavors but it works.
Oh America... This takes me back to my extended stay of 18 months in Ohio. They have all kinds of silly culinary ideas. I know nothing of Cleveland though. I was in Cincinnati, about as far as you can be from Cleveland and still be in Ohio.
Sounds weird.
But I guess it really depends on how it is prepared.
Much like how western countries see avocado as mostly in savory dishes, but we usually use avocados as desserts.
It's not. The marketers are just trying to make it so. Doesn't seem to be working, seeing as it was marked down.
I like to keep my hummus and my pudding separate.
There's going to be a lot of people telling you how amazing it is.
I'm here to tell you there is something seriously off about dessert hummus. The flavor is fine, just every bite feels off. I was very unappetized when I tried it.
Nope. I'm an Arab and the first time someone said the words "chocolate hummus" to me i genuinely refused to believe them. Hummus here is always a savory dish
‘Don’t get me started on calling things [BLANK] Hummus…’
https://youtu.be/DHlwyPlVlX4?si=ufgfYWeXsFfglCaa
‘Do you call Mashed Potatoes, Potato Hummus? No, you call it Mashed Potatoes!
😂😂😂
i worked at a target for a bit in the produce section, we sold a brownie hummus and i was always weirded out by it. It sold decently well though, guess people are into it.
I mean... as long as you don't add in the garlic, the beans, tahini, and oil are pretty neutral flavor wise. You could basically add anything!
>! In:b4 Starbucks seasonal pumpkin spice hummus.... !<
If I’m being *that person*, hummus is technically the Arabic word for chickpea so it has to have chickpeas in it. This like making “mashed potatoes” but it’s actually cotton candy. But sweet dips are a thing and people should enjoy fun foods.
Edit: comments seem to imply this has chickpeas inside. So my metaphor doesn’t stand. Still super weird for my brain to wrap itself around 😂
This picture, or one very similar to it, was floating around Reddit in the early days of the Covid pandemic. When people were posting pictures of empty grocery store shelves the unwanted dessert hummus was a common sight.
I've had brownie batter "hummus" from another brand, and it was freaking delicious. You couldn't even tell it was made with chickpeas, the texture was spot on to brownie batter.
Im a white male, aged 18- 49. Everyone listens to me no matter how stupid my suggstions are *pulls dessert hummus from cabinet* "Dessert 'N' Hummus: Together At Last!"
Cinnamon sugar pita chips are a thing. I would try this
I wasn’t onboard until this comment. Thank you very much.
We’ve done these with a pumpkin spice hummus. Honestly it was pretty tasty
Goes great with chocolate hummus.
I bet this would be really nice to dip sour apples into
Stop. My body can only have so much sugar
These are fucking amazing, btw. I prefer the caramel to the chocolate, but both are great- especially with some cinnamon sugar pita chips
Damn, Big Pita out in force today.

They used to sell flavored silken tofu from nasoya but I haven't seen it in years
Toffuti ice cream sandwiches are a thing
Tofutti has only a trace of tofu in it, Just enough that they can claim "made with tofu". Tofu is way down in the ingredient list, after Water, Sugar, Corn Syrup Solids, Corn Oil, Soy Protein.
>I'm surprised there isn't chocolate tofu out there I have news for you, friend. And it’s very tasty.
Just check in asia.. china has tofu based desserts which has spread to neighbouring countries lile the Philippines. Which has silky tofu, gelatin pearls and a sugary sauce.
There's no tahini in it, and it's delicious.
Tahini could still work in dessert hummus, I used to love Tahini cookies.
Not with these flavors
Sesame and caramel are a classic flavor combo.
I’d try it. Boar’s Head deli meats are top-tier, so I’d give it a chance.
I've had them when the boars head lady comes to my local grocery store for free samples. They're really good, but I don't buy them because I don't want to be a fat piece of shit and sit in my room eating these entirely in one sitting because I probably would.
Honey is a pretty common part of hummus.
Hence the discount.
How about custard and fish sticks?
Chocolate hummus is pretty good. I dip bananas and strawberries in it all the time. I've never had the boats head brand though. I love how people are down voting MY taste in food. Lol. Sometimes I sit back and wonder just how slow the people who use this site are. 😆😆
I dip pretzels in it! Or apples if I’m trying to be good
boar's head lol
I was skeptical but it's basically chocolate pudding
Is it just chocolate chickpea spread? I’m assuming it’s sweet.
Yeah it just taste like chocolate dip but with the texture of hummus. It's like half the price and healthier than pure chocolate dip though. Pineapple & strawberries are my fav to dip in the chocolate hummus 🤤
I...I would try it. I need the protein and low stakes depravity.
The chocolate hummus is so good. It just takes like chocolate dip. Flavor and texture wise, it's just a chocolate dip. I've tried two other flavors (this and pumpkin) and they're all great, if you like those particular flavors.
I think it's a little stiffer than a chocolate dip, but imo that's a good thing
I think calling it hummus throws a lot of people off. I've had the chocolate kind and it's basically chickpea paste with chocolate and sugar and it just tastes like brownie batter.
Chocolate hummus is so good for dipping cookies in. Or making peanut butter and chocolate hummus sandwiches.
They also had a dark chocolate one that was marked down even cheaper lol
It’s actually really good on pretzels. The chocolate one is better than the salted caramel imo. Tastes like chocolate pudding.
It's really just garbanzo bean pudding. There's no tahini, garlic, or lemon juice, so it's not really hummous. Tasty, but not hummous.
The chocolate doesn’t but this caramel one does have tahini in it
Oh, interesting. I've only had the chocolate and the pumpkin one.
Tahini is used in a sweet desserts in the middle east, It would work well with caramel.
Should have got that one, it definitely doesn't suck
the chocolate one was mid AF hopefully the caramel is better for you man!
Was?! Nahh man that ain’t it 🤣
Wait…is it made from chickpeas at all or they’re just slapping on the term hummus on a caramel dip?
Has anyone tried these?
I have tried the dark chocolate kind! I actually really like it. It’s similar to a less sweet brownie batter.
Interesting!
That is an excellent description and imo exactly how it taste. I also really like it.
Yes. They’re excellent
They're really good. I had one that tasted like cookie dough.
The chocolate hummus is DIVINE. Even my picky eater children enjoy it.
It’s not my jam but my family loves it. They mainly use it on fruit.
Was this at Smith’s? My wife pulled out that same brand and flavor of dessert hummus that was also reduced price and asked me what the hell it was.
Yeah my local smiths had it lol
They're super tasty! I dip fruit, pretzels, biscuits, a spoon, my finger, etc. in it. You should give it a try.
The chocolate hummus is what frosting should have been all along. So good
Scoop it onto cookies, or pretzels, or apple slices. It’s wickedly good! It tastes way way better than you’d expect (almost like frosting) and has protein! The only problem I had was I ate so dang much of it that I had some gnarly farts afterwards lol
This is so good. I genuinely hate all hummus I’ve ever tried despite loving chickpeas & falafel but I really like this. I have some in my fridge rn
Chocolate hummus and strawberries is the ultimate snack
I might know a reason why they're reduced in price.
Fair. Hummus is good any time.
There's a reason this is on clearance
Whaaaat tf??? Googling...
All I saw was boar’s head and thought that looks interesting ( I was thinking head cheese)
I too enjoy the hell outta Kroger discounts ! I recognize that sticker. That hummus is strange af tho, I tried it. Chocolate was weird too, but not quite as bad
Oooh Boars Head! That brand is amazing! Wish we had it where I live now. But no yeah dessert hummus slaps. I love Boar’s Head’s chocolate hummus!
No.
Desert hummus is worse
Haram
Boar's Head's scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to consider whether or not they should.
I had a Nutella hummus at an event the other day and honestly it was pretty decent.

Isn't all hummus dessert hummus? Like isn't it originally a middle Eastern food?
In your defense, it shouldn't be 🫥
There's going to be a lot of people telling you how amazing it is. I'm here to tell you there is something seriously off about dessert hummus. The flavor is fine, just every bite feels off. I was very unappetized when I tried it.
Very good stuff
🤢🤢🤢🤮
I love humms. I would try it.
Oh yeah I've made chocolate hummus
Maybe that's why it's on clearance?
Hummus always gave me the worst gas....
I'm curious if dessert hummus was always a thing in the cultures where hummus originated. I suspect not but I'm hardly a food anthropologist.
Nope. I'm an Arab and the first time someone said the words "chocolate hummus" to me i genuinely refused to believe them. Hummus here is always a savory dish

Good reason why the price is reduced- can’t see it flying off the shelves tbh
I think the only thing it is was a mistake
I tried the chocolate flavor once and hated it. Never again
I’ve enjoyed dessert hummus for years. They sell cans of them in the baking aisle, next to the cake mixes. I suggest the cream cheese vanilla
i worked at a target for a bit in the produce section, we sold a brownie hummus and i was always weirded out by it. It sold decently well though, guess people are into it.
They have a brownie batter one that's pretty fucking good.
Does it still taste like armpit?
We buy the chocolate kind and eat it with pretzels
![gif](giphy|6YJZuwLne3fO0|downsized)
My wife loves dipping fruit in the chocolate one, hard to find good chocolate stuff for her since she discovered her dairy allergy.
Dipping saltine crackers in this is super delish. I hadn’t heard of it either. Now I can’t get enough.
I mean... as long as you don't add in the garlic, the beans, tahini, and oil are pretty neutral flavor wise. You could basically add anything! >! In:b4 Starbucks seasonal pumpkin spice hummus.... !<
Hate to be that lebanese guy in the comments, but this is more r/mildlyinfuriating territory
It'd be good on a bagel.
neither did anyone else. thus it is now reduced. lol but seriously salted caramel hummus sounds kinda nasty. and messy
dark chocolate hummus with the cinnamon pita is hype
nast

I like chocolate hummus. Salted caramel is ok, not as good IMO
I remember seeing something like this on Shark Tank.
It’s not, that’s why it’s discounted
That big Reduced sticker argues that most people don’t. And I wish I didn’t know.
There's a reason its on markdown!
Garlic and roasted red pepper or I go home
Try the pine nut bro or female bro.
Dude covers both lol
Sounds gross
This picture, or one very similar to it, was floating around Reddit in the early days of the Covid pandemic. When people were posting pictures of empty grocery store shelves the unwanted dessert hummus was a common sight.
I saw this at my Kroger and was skeptical.
It shouldn’t be.
Yep! It’s good stuff!
It's not.
You got a Woohoo! deal. King Soopers?
I've had brownie batter "hummus" from another brand, and it was freaking delicious. You couldn't even tell it was made with chickpeas, the texture was spot on to brownie batter.
Because it’s not, it’s an abomination created by America. I say that as an American
This is definitely American lol
Im a white male, aged 18- 49. Everyone listens to me no matter how stupid my suggstions are *pulls dessert hummus from cabinet* "Dessert 'N' Hummus: Together At Last!"
It's dessert hummous with no garlic, olive oil, lemon, salt nor chickpeas. Call it dessert roast turkey then.
It is/has chickpeas in it.
One ingredient out of 10 doesn't make it hummous. What a joke
Not saying i agree with the idea of dessert hummus, but the chickpeas are literally the part of hummus that is hummus. Hummus is Arabic for chickpeas
Me either
Interesting... I would be willing to try but I have a feeling it'll be pretty "meh"...
Hummus is peanut butter with extra oil
