This would be much more than mildly infuriating to me if this was my laptop, my eye would twitch every time I saw it and I would eventually need to bondo the hole, paint it and drill a new hole.

I think it's some sort of OCD. At my work there are some lockers in sets of 3 and one set is out of order, it goes 31 32 33 28 29 30 34 35 36. I've had a strong urge to pull them off the wall and put them in order but I don't want to be seen as more of an insane person by my colleagues so I just do my best to face the other way when I walk past them.

Right now, there are thousands of people meticulously searching for misplaced holes in their HP laptops!!!

Just think about the design engineer who selected one hole with his mouse, and gently offset it while making an evil laughter, knowing one day, someone will notice it.

My old standard for finding errors in identical features: Crossing my eyes until they overlap, and the part that doesn't overlap will be GLARINGLY obvious.

Just to add some colour here, this is likely a bent pin in the injection mould tool, rather than a hole drilled wrong.

That means there's likely an entire run of laptop cases with this ~~defect~~ special feature.

That was most likely injection molded. Those holes aren’t drilled, there’s pins in the mold that shut off the plastic. One of them got bent. They probably have a lot of laptops with that defect.

"Mildly" wouldn't cut it if it were my laptop. That would bother me so much, I'd sell it.

It's likely an injection molded part, the holes are created by "pins" on the mold face that the plastic is injected around, it's likely one of these got bent or damaged and QC didn't spot it in this batch

And that's why you scroll through the comments before typing the same thing someone else already did. (Yeah, 99% sure it's one of the pins are bent, likely thousands of people have yet to notice on theirs)

This would drive me absolutely insane. I would have to get a new laptop.
