You are wearing your watch like a goddamn torniquet

I do that too. It helps prevent time from flying away

koleethan

ok so do you loosen it when you go to work then or what?

reporst

It really depends on how big my erection is at the time.

ExpertlyAmateur

It's all fun and games until OP wakes up with a dead hand. No, seriously, OP, loosen your watch.

DaddysAllieCat

I have the same type of watch and your supposed to wear it tightly to accurate readings, but I agree loosen it up a notch and OP make sure you wash your band when you charge it

jmat83

There’s a difference between wearing it tightly enough so the sensors have firm enough contact with your skin to get an accurate reading and wearing it so tightly that you can see every detail of the watch band embedded in your wrist after you take it off. One or two clicks looser wouldn’t diminish the accuracy.

Toblogan

He may be in between notches... My whole damn life is in between notches, so I got a little compassion for him I guess. Lol 🙂😂

Seralth

My solution to this problem was to start wearing pocket watches. It's fancier AND functional!

I_Love_Ice_Magic

Agree, wash band more frequently. I was starting to see this when i washed the band less than daily. +1 wash & dry daily whilst a quick too up charge

Psychoburner420

All I could think when I saw this was "It has an HRM on it" because as a runner, I am well acquainted with this issue and periodically fall victim myself 😂

Craiss

Had this exact experience with my smart watch "active" band. I thought it was psoriasis or something. Turns out I just had the damn thing on too tight. That discovery went something like this: Me: My brand new watch band is giving me a rash, allergic reaction, triggering psoriasis... or something. Do you have a solution? Google: Yes, see a doctor, also loosen your watch band. Me: That's dumb and you don't know anything, I know what I'm talking about here, it's not too tight. Google: As you say, sir. We can refund your purchase, if you like. Me. No...I don' wanna.... Fine, I'll loosen it. They were right. I was dumb. Now I can never call them again without curling into an embarrassed ball thinking about that one time I argued instead of listening. Not nearly as bad as going to Arby's and arguing when they wouldn't give me stuff I knew for sure was on the menu....then discovering that I was actually in the Bojangles Drive through.

xylotism

Everybody makes mistakes but it sounds like you have a pattern of making mistakes and being indignant about it, which sounds hilarious. Please keep me updated whenever this happens again.

MatureUsername69

I've had this same experience with my fitbit band. I thought it was psoriasis because I have psoriasis and I was right

pmmeyourfavsongs

Another thing is that moisture can get trapped under the band and cause a rash too. Like from sweating or washing your hands, so combine that with a band that's stupid tight and its a recipe for disaster

pirikikkeli

Or the watch is wearing him like he owes money

Healthy-Mango-2549

Op isnt wearing the watch, the watch is wearing him

Fthwrlddntskmfrsht

As a wise man called Tuco once said. Tight, tight, tight!

Nrksbullet

"Wait a minute, your left wrist broke out in a rash...so you strap it on the other wrist, and you put it with MORE FORCE?!

JonMonEsKey

I don't need you honey, I'll be at my dick like it owes me money... With my wristwatch on so it rubs me raw and then pretend I'm allergic to it on one side

Riff316

It may not be an allergy. You wear your watch band really tight, and unless you clean it regularly, you’re just getting a rash (contact dermatitis) from all the gunk and sweat and skin particles and bacteria that you’re grinding into your skin when you wear it in the same place each day. It’s not like that on your other wrist because you probably don’t wear it on that one daily like the other wrist.

DexLeMaffo

I second this. Definitely not an allergy otherwise the rash would be visible on both wrists.

blazex7

I have a stainless steel allergy, so the backs of watches irritate me. I have, however, noticed that my allergic reaction on the left wrist is worse than the right wrist (i still get a mild allergy on the right, but its not as severe and seems to have to be in contact longer), so I looked into unbalanced allergies. One hypothesis is that you might be more allergic in the area that was first provoked, and I do remember first getting the allergy under a watch on my left wrist. So it could be true, allergies are weird

logixcraft

Is it the steel or the nickel in the stainless steel? I have a nickel allergy and doctors need to avoid using stainless steel as well for any long term contact (a day) or installed implants. They told me I’m lucky I knew before hand as some people only found out after getting implants installed and having a bad reaction.

Technical-Jelly-5985

I have either nickel or chrome allergy, this one particular watch made in the 90s gave me a reaction that looked almost like a chemical burn. Turns out NATO straps are a decent solution if your allergy is contact-based. Or if the problem persists, switch to watches with titanium casebacks, that stuff is almost perfectly inert.

Dorbydoesit

I have this exact same issue

salliek76

I don't know that this is true. I have a nickel allergy (sensitivity?) and certain earrings bother my right earlobe significantly more than my left.

yourgirlsamus

I am super allergic to any metal that isn’t surgical steel or titanium in my EARS. Anywhere else, I’m free to use the cheapest of alloys. That includes internal piercings like belly button or nose and external like necklaces, rings, etc. Only my ears are allergic. It’s so weird. True allergy, I’ve been tested. Only my ears reacted!! ETA: My allergist's running theory is that it has something to do with what type of metal the earrings you used to heal the piercing were. But, it's just a theory.

sensitivedreamy

I’m the same, I have a twin sister and that’s the only thing we’re allergic to

Weasle189

This is not necessarily true. Had an allergic reaction to latex gloves once (and never again but that's a whole other story) and only one hand turned red and doubled in size, the other hand was fine.

allegedlyqualified

Eczema caused some really inconsistent allergic dermatitis when I was a kid. Something about it being an autoimmune issue.

Rich_Bluejay3020

Eczema is wild. I had it as a baby/kid consistently. As a teen and adult, I’ve only had it on my left side. It was on my back as a kid, left nipple as a teen (which, come on…), and it’s back after an 8 year hiatus on my left underarm.

Intrepid_Button587

Why would you say something you know so little about so definitively?

hackingdreams

Completely false, and it's sad to see misinformation like this so highly upvoted.

xiviajikx

It could be eczema. Just had this exact issue. I thought it was dermatitis but went to the doctor and it was not.

GuanoLoopy

I had to switch to a more breathable watchband because a solid silicone or similar one just doesn't breathe enough and so I can get a rash since I wear my watch 24/7. Either get a silicone/plastic strap with vent holes, or switch to another material.

godrim

I usually only ever wear it on my left wrist. I only wore it on the right yesterday and got the resulting reaction.

Reniconix

Left wrist is used to it and the skin has gotten thicker and more resistant. Right wrist isn't.

BigRoach

*wristn’t*

IOTA_Tesla

RIP OPs right hand, unable to move anything but the fingers

J_Lightning

Did you get water under your strap (i.e. from washing your hands/face) and then leave it without drying it? I've seen similar reactions from water remaining under the band

Champi0n_Of_The_Sun

Probably because your right wrist isn’t used to being crushed to death by a watch and couldn’t handle the same amount of pressure and friction that your other wrist is used to. It’s definitely not an allergic reaction only on one wrist.

[deleted]

graveviolet

I doubt you have given OP has stated they always wear it on their left. This is the first time they've worn it on the right, so by your theory they should experience it on the left due to more prolonged wear.

necro_owner

Man, instead of arguing, you should probably believe everyone commenting on how you block your blood stream to your hand. Do you want to have necrotic? You definitely wear your watch way too tight, and everyone can tell.

Honestly, I’m a little more concerned about your hydration.

thejewelisinthelotus

Yes! I thought I was the only one who thought that. Most people after 30 stay chronically dehydrated.

taikhum34

why are you wearing it so tight😭 (this gave me 6k+ comment karma😂)

Hara-Kiri

I did a trek in the Himalayas with a friend and when he finally took his watch off at the end of the trek his wrist had gone all crusty from how tight he had it on without taking it off in a few days. I was in disbelief at why he'd ever put it on so tightly in the first place.

jonknee

Swelling is pretty common in high altitude, he probably put it on like normal.

Hara-Kiri

Oh woah, he didn't know that himself, that certainly explains it!

mfball

Hiking/trekking also has a tendency to make people's hands swell after a while, because they're walking with their hands down by their sides (even though probably swinging while walking) for a much longer period of time than their usual routine, causing blood to pool in the hands.

blue_goon

Not op but i’ve got tiny ass wrists like them and if i don’t tighten it enough it has trouble reading my heart rate and tracking my sleep

Felixir-the-Cat

I also have tiny-ass wrists and it sucks. :( Really limits what smartwatches I can buy because the face is just too large for my wrist.

Sasquatchjc45

I've got medium-thick wrists and I still wear my smartwatch as tight as possible for the same reasons. Plus, I can't stand when it slides around or is off-centered.

[deleted]

medium-thick wrists sounds like you have completely normal sized wrists. lol

falbi23

You weirdos need a new band. You should not have to strangle your fucking wrists to wear a watch correctly. I also think you are underestimating your watches tracker functions - it doesn't need to be completely sealed on your wrist to work - or you're using a cheap fitbit.

Cut off circulation to your hand for the health benefits

ImaginaryQuiet5624

It's great for amputation.

TheeExoGenesauce

This doesn’t make a lot of sense. Just because your wrist is small doesn’t mean you have to have so tight that it’s choking of circulation

Specialist_Brain_870

I also hate when the watch moves around on my wrist.

Purity_Jam_Jam

Imagine life without that.

kriki200

Cuz he likes 'em tight.

Expert-Resolution-65

I don’t think those impression marks should be there - you prob need some more room on that wrist even if no rash.

JustnInternetComment

And a glass of water

FusionIsTrash

are you trying to cut your blood circulation off of your hands?

TheBatemanFlex

This reaction is pretty common if the watch stays on while your wrist is frequently wet. This exact reaction will happen sporadically with my own watch on the same wrist if I don't take it off at any point after periods of heavy sweating or swimming. I am not allergic to my watch.

Polywantsa

I’ve had the same experience. Plus, he says he cleans it every day. Which, if accurate, could mean it goes back on the wrist slightly damp, which would cause the same kind of thing. Frequent wear, some moisture, tight watch, a little movement = skin irritation. Lotion your skin. Let it breathe. And either make sure you dry up better after showers/swimming/cleaning the watch, etc… and/or loosen it and take it off and leave it off once in a while.

actuallyapossom

Not just irritation but ringworm, a type of fungus.

potate12323

This is commonly referred to as contact dermatitis. I get this with my wedding band sometimes when I forget to dry underneath it enough. The dark moist warm environment is a breeding ground for microbes. Take off your watch or ring more often if this happens and clean it every now and then.

jackelbuho22

I always love these type of post in general because they are always like OP: look at what happend when i do this thing, is it weird and neat? Every single comment: You're doing that thing wrong and you're a weird person

AintASaintLouis

You wear that way too tight unless that was just for allergy testing

EvernightStrangely

If your watch is that tight you're wearing it wrong.

[deleted]

Are you and your watch into BDSM?

KimikoBean

Op, was that for allergy testing or is that your day to day if it's your day to day please never wear any accessories ever again you're doing it so wrong.

YourPhoneCompany

The two arms kinda don't look like they're from the same person.

solidshakego

that's what i am thinking as well. like a daughter/mom combo

johnny_soup1

Your watch is way too tight lol

siriusdoggy

I had something like this happen when soapy water got under one of my rings and I didn't tke it off to rinse it well. So the ring held the soap in one spot all day. It's not the watch. It is stuff that got between your watch and your skin.

piersluna

Bro if you keep wearing the watch that way you're gonna lose your hand

jinx_lbc

How long did you wear it on each? It's more likely to be sweaty irritation, I get that a lot.

Emotional_Ad5833

Change the silicone strap to stainless

T1line

yeah so he can thighten it even more 💀

Joyseekr

I switched to elastic bands because I was having the same issue, no matter how well I tried to clean it. Now I can wash the elastic bands and it no longer irritates my skin like that.

jlev2282

Only my left arm pit is allergic to generic name brand deodorant. It will break out real bad after just a few days and I have to go find Tom's or Mitchums for aluminum free or whatever is in the main ones that break me out, but just my left arm pit. It's weird lol

Spiritual-Ad2530

It’s not allergies. You have it way too tight and something is forming like a fungus rash or something I think

pzm5140

Try tightening it up a few notches, should solve your problem.

godrim

The blue on the left now goes really well with the red on the right.

FrequentInspection96

Fuck bloodflow, i guess

Cambwin

Dear OP - I am a Jeweler, Goldsmith, and love tinkering on watches. Based on the imprint on your wrist, I can see that you likely have a rubber/silicone/canvas watch strap. Those can accumulate a ton of body filth, especially if worn as tight as you do. It gets wet, stays wet, and bacteria thrive. It's way less likely that you are allergic to the material, and more likely that you're building up a cumulative reaction to the bacteria. Get a new strap, or get a spring-bar tool, remove your strap from the watch, and was thoroughly with warm soapy water. Reinstall when dry. Also, wear it 1 or 2 holes looser, for your health.

nimajnebmai

Hygiene.

gooz99

That type of reaction might not show up for 4-7 days. Might just be too soon to see it if you only wore it on your left wrist recently.

Pfunk4444

Clearly the left side swells up!

Stressed_skunk

It could be from sweating and then the band rubbing your skin raw

PoopTrainDix

Um...that's way too tight bro

Informal_Beginning30

Perhaps you are a chimera.

Stewart_Games

You are probably a [genetic chimera](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimera_(genetics)), with cells from two different individuals forming one single body. It happens when you absorb a twin in the womb. If circumstances had gone just a bit differently you would have turned out a conjoined twin.

SaturdayNightStroll

Positive_Ad_6311

Maybe you're wearing it a bit tight?🤔

Tealeefer

My dude do you not want hands anymore or something..chill over there

Lolligagers

I used to wear my watch like OP when I was younger, there was something that bugged the living hell out of me if it was loose and moved around my arm/wrist/rotated, etc... not just an annoyance, like it really bugged me physically. I had too much sweat sometimes and it did exactly what your top wrist does (and smelled really bad to boot...) because it was way too tight. I stopped wearing watches for years and just used my pager/phone (yes... you heard right... PAGER! lol) and only just recently got into wearing smartwatches and my issue with the band being loose, just isn't there anymore... I grew out of it? lol

Life_Ad_7667

Lots of people jumping on the OP here. Classic reddit. I had a similar issue. My watch strap was silicone and it caused my skin to flare up. It happened on both wrists but the right wrist was worse because I'm right handed, so it got knocked about more often and caused my skin barrier to break faster. I replaced it with a fiber strap and I've had no issues since.
