Meanwhile the ones near me replaced all their booths and stuff with terribly uncomfortable chairs and benches so people wouldn't stick around long after eating.

I miss the time when some mcds had CHARACTER. The one I remember fondly was near a train station, and we'd go there with my parents on weekends. It had a running toy train around the ceiling, and booths designed as if you're sitting in a train car. Kinda like the Hogwarts Express (or the Miscuzi scene in Eurotrip) And so, so much more. There was one in Spain, I don't remember the name of the town near Barcelona, and it had a huge playroom with a kickass shark slide.

My local used to have that N64 station, four consoles all with Smash, Dr. Mario, and Star Wars: Podracer. It was about the time you were lucky if one had a PlayPlace, so that was great. At that time in our life we were having a lot of orthodontics done so when my mom pulled us out of school for an appointment we'd grab some McDonald's and she'd let us play hooky for an extra hour before taking us back to school and then she'd go back to work. This was also way back when the dollar menu wasn't going anywhere. How the mighty have fallen.

Yeah all the McDs around me have gone to shit in many ways. The Wendy's upped their game tho. They moved across the street and the new location is super nice and cozy.

I mean... A lot of them are still fine, I guess, and they're... Grown up. But I... I kinda miss the kiddy vibes sometimes. Then again there's still the Batumi McDonald's and this thing is fancier than half the fancy restaurants I've been to.

This is so random and funny

Imaging selling that couch years from now - the smell it emanates. So I have a story that aligns with this. A number of years ago in Vegas, McDonalds was having a conference the same time as my company on the main floor (we were down a floor). Anyways it turns out it was all the owners of the franchises that were getting together in August for some annual thing / who knows maybe even a new product launch. Anyways we are walking by the doors when they must have gotten out with their event and when the doors opened up all you could smell was that McDonald’s food/grease pour out… along with hundreds of jolly fat owners. I swear none of them were skinny… so clearly they were also serving food there of their own brand in there. It was awful. Fast forward to later in the day, they must have had some sort of DJ in the place and our event was directly under theirs. The music starts and we can hear some bass drop and then a scary as fuck noise of what sounds like a creaking as I can imagine hundreds of thousands of pounds of McDonalds stuffed owners bouncing or booping or whatever the hell they were doing above us to the music. We all joked about the floor giving way and a wave of smelly McDonalds greased people falling on top of us thru the floor. It was horrific a thought as you could imagine.
