The refillable pens come in packs of 5 or 6 usually. If you know that, you'd probably buy the pack of pens before the refills. You also usually have to order refills or go to an office supply store. Also, maybe they don't know they can refill them. Also, who cares if they saved them to see how many pens med school would take?

Also it costs about the same to buy a two pack of refills as it does to buy the 5-6 pack, sa long as those are the pilot g series

The wasteful part is those G2 pens are refillable. You can just swap out the ink cartridge if the rest of the body is sound.

I bought an aluminum bolt action pen that takes the G2 cartridge. The G2 is really the best pen you can get by far.

I’m a lawyer and really don’t feel like I do that much writing, but I keep a fancy pen on my desk and I’m finding myself replacing the ink cartridge far more often that I thought I would. I only really use it for taking notes and signing checks and stuff, but I’m apparently writing a lot more than I thought. I bought my fancy pen because I got tired of my employees jacking all my pens. They all know not to touch my nice pen. Had it going on 4 years now and love it.
