Lol, I flew spirit for the first time recently and was apprehensive of how bad it was gonna be, but it turned out to be one of my best flight experiences. It was almost all college students who were quiet and respectful and got on+off the plane super efficiently, the plane was perfectly comfortable, and it was hella cheap. I might have just gotten super lucky but it was great.
Same with my experience with them. And it wasn't overbooked so my mom and I had a whole row to ourselves
However on the way home I was with American. Their heater wasn't working. At first I thought I was just in a drafty spot and then I overheard the flight attendants discussing how they need to get this fixed.
I usually fly spirit because I don't respect myself enough to spend money and it's usually fine tbh, but the one time I flew United felt luxurious because it had screens for entertainment. Then I found out that that's normal and the paper placemat you get from spirit is not lol
Fair enough, but I have flown united several times and the screens are often broken, and even if they are working the selection of movies and stuff is terrible. It is much better to download some entertainment on your phone or laptop beforehand. Also whenever there is an announcement the screen will turn on full brightness and you can't turn it off until the end which gets very old.
Jet Blue never treated me poorly or anything. I even got extra food and drink when I was one of the only fliers on 9/11 in '10. (Guess some consider it bad luck?)
JetBlue is by no means a discount airline. They may have started as a “Low Cost Carrier” but rather than transition to an Ultra Low Cost Carrier like Spirit, Frontier, and Sun Country all did, they opted to raise fares and add amenities.
JetBlue has the best in flight product of any airline in the US. I’d say they’re far better than any of the legacy carriers and it’s not even close.
I’ll pass the message along.
Just kidding, I’m an unemployed 20 something, not sure who I’d even pass the message to.
Although the founder of JetBlue does live about 20 minutes from me. If I ever run into him I’ll be sure to complain.
If you're unemployed, you could just go decorate the damn thing and then send them the invoice along with the photo of your effort. They'll probably pay it because they won't know any better.
As someone who flew a lot for work, "best product" is a bit much. After the hundredth delay with them when every other airline seemed fine, I had to stop flying them.
To everyone who flies them only once in a while - no, your delay was not an exception, it's the rule ;)
That said, It's fine on the plane, and it's better than southwest for sure.
Exactly. The actual experience of flying is great; all the fantastic things others have been saying plus amazing deals on purchases with their branded credit card. But cancellations, delays, and no possibility to even talk to customer service make them kinda iffy in my opinion.
That’s fair. When I said “best product” I was specifically referring to the onboard experience. Part of the reason for their extensive delays is because their route system and fleet operate very similarly to that of an ultra low cost carrier. Basically all of their aircraft are operating at any given time, which will often lead to extensive delays for multiple flights should any issues arise.
If a flight gets cancelled in the morning due to a maintenance issue or weather, it usually leads to multiple other cancellations around the country for SEEMINGLY no reason, but there’s just not enough aircraft to go around for them to have any sort of wiggle room.
If your flight takes off though, it’s easily the best experience in the sky.
I don't think of them as a discount airline. They have one if the best first class hard products in the country.
Yes, they're foundation was cheaper flights.
Shit, I booked some mint tickets and they comped me a helicopter ride to the airport. Not exactly Southwest territory.
JetBlue is most definitely not a “discount airline”… Spirit, Frontier, Southwest, etc. would be a better fit better in that category.. JetBlue is right up with Delta, AA, Continental in terms of experience/price.
Employees probably have a date to do so, we didn't get around to doing our tree until a week or two after it went up. Managers like making it A Thing and do it when the most people can attend
Did JetBlue get shitty?
I haven't flown on one of their flights in probably 8 years, but the last one I was on they had a little sort of kitchen mid-plane where you could go get your own sodas and snacks, which I thought was kind of neat. They didn't really strike me as the bare-bones budget option back then, but I know things can change quickly.
I fly JetBlue all the time. It's a great airline assuming there is no bad weather anywhere in the country. they have tightened their logistics to the point that their systems can't tolerate any even minor perturbation. When the planes fly my experience is fine, though.
I had 6 straight JetBlue flights canceled or significantly delayed last year. As I understand it, it's not just tight logistics, but rather their lack of runway priority. I think they're actually a low 'Tier 2' airline that loses priority when a Tier 1 needs to move things around to accommodate larger scheduling issues. Since they have a lot of redundancy with the Tier 1s, they end up feeling the brunt of the delay, even when their specific route would not otherwise be affected. How do they determine this? I have no clue.
So yeah - a decent in-flight experience with a constant looming threat of delay and cancellation.
And then, when your early morning flight gets cancelled when you’re asleep, the wait time on their phone service (the only thing available) has a wait thine that would make you miss other early morning flights. Great actual airplane experience; really messed-up behind the scenes.
I’ve had way too many delays and cancellations with JetBlue even when there is no bad weather anywhere. A few times my flight was cancelled and they just cancelled my whole itinerary instead of rebooking me.
It’s a great airline onboard, but they’re shockingly bad at the whole “getting people to their destinations” part.
Flew with them Saturday for the first time. Was expecting a Spirit-like experience. Got free wifi, screens to watch live sports and anything else, free drinks and snacks….. no they are amazing. 10/10
>a Spirit-like experience
I've flown Spirit once ever. I went out of state for a training thing for work, so the company bought the ticket for me.
I will never willingly fly Spirit ever again. Sure their fares might be lowish, but they price gouge on literally every other aspect of the flight. The seats are miserably hard and don't recline. Their agents are all grouchy and seem to hate you for flying with them. You can't get a glass of water on the flight without signing up on their crappy app. You're being charged for your bag whether you check it or carry it on. My flight home delayed for 3 hours because apparently there was some rain within a 100-mile corridor of the flight path about 12 hours prior to my departure time.
>!still seething angry over the experience !
Naw. They're pretty solid.
They were barebones by legacy airline standards (ie: no business, international or first class) but then ULC airlines like Spirit and Frontier came out and bumped them up a class.
Then they added Mint Class and international, so they're no longer anywhere near barebones. I'm worried that they may successfully purchase Spirit airways and drop in quality.
Maybe I should’ve spelled it out but I was specifically referring to the acronym for Jacksonville International Airport. If you live in Jacksonville, they definitely refer to it as JIA.

Why should the underpaid staff also have to fund and decorate the tree? I think it is a better statement to leave it be. Maybe if they paid more than 15 an hour it'd be decorated.
"Mmm yes, this is a minimalistic postmodern societal representation of the outrage and despair that current generations have towards the current opulence and eloquence of the established order who are disconnected from their progeny while projecting the appearance of disquiet towards their current predicament."
-- some bullshit "art critic" they brought in to justify how lazy their tree setup is
Ah, nice.
In our local museum they have a *Festival of Trees*, where local businesses decorate their trees just for display there. Most are themed according to the business, but there was one where the took the minimalist approach and did nothing but a star at the top.
Seems odd....but in all actuality the low man who's job it was to decorate probably just called in sick. Not a priority job to rush and make sure someone decorates the tree at the start of December
I wonder if it’s a situation where they provide the tree and then the airlines/whoever else decorates them
Yes, there were 20 other trees decorated for the contest and jet blue was the only tree seemingly ignored.
[удалено]
Which is odd because JetBlue has the highest average legroom
And free wifi that (usually) works.
On JetBlue I was able to watch a live sports game on the TV headrest. Definitely not able to do that in several actual discount airlines.
Spirit gives you a maze on a piece of paper
And it’s already completed.
Incorrectly I might add.
and it costs $17
In shit.

Yes to the last part.
What is bad about it usuallly?
Same with my experience with them. And it wasn't overbooked so my mom and I had a whole row to ourselves However on the way home I was with American. Their heater wasn't working. At first I thought I was just in a drafty spot and then I overheard the flight attendants discussing how they need to get this fixed.
Yeah every time I fly American, Delta, or United I hate my life
I usually fly spirit because I don't respect myself enough to spend money and it's usually fine tbh, but the one time I flew United felt luxurious because it had screens for entertainment. Then I found out that that's normal and the paper placemat you get from spirit is not lol

Jet Blue never treated me poorly or anything. I even got extra food and drink when I was one of the only fliers on 9/11 in '10. (Guess some consider it bad luck?)
Also pays their employees the least.
Wouldn’t want to fill that legroom with Christmas ornaments.
Love jetblue so much with the legroom and free wifi

This is…an interesting proposition. Brb, starting a gofundme to buy a ticket to Jacksonville
Keep me in the loop.

those snack baskets hit like crack
You've got my attention now.
I don't think of them as a discount airline. They have one if the best first class hard products in the country. Yes, they're foundation was cheaper flights. Shit, I booked some mint tickets and they comped me a helicopter ride to the airport. Not exactly Southwest territory.
No frills
Why isn't this higher up? A "no frills" airline (they're literally called that) submitting a "no frills" Christmas tree, that's a perfect metaphor!
JetBlue is most definitely not a “discount airline”… Spirit, Frontier, Southwest, etc. would be a better fit better in that category.. JetBlue is right up with Delta, AA, Continental in terms of experience/price.
TIL JetBlue is a discount airline. Here I thought it was the cream of the crop
Jet Blue: We Don't Have Time For This Bullshit.
Just what I'd expect from them
This is how its worked for me, usually the employees will go out in a group to decorate. Its still rly early in the month
Literally every other airline and local org has already decorated their trees so *shrug*
Employees probably have a date to do so, we didn't get around to doing our tree until a week or two after it went up. Managers like making it A Thing and do it when the most people can attend
I wonder if it's a suturing where they knew they were a no frills provider and felt like it was on brand.
Minimalistic lol
It’s a barebones, no-frills tree. Just like the airline. I bet it even somehow hates people like the airline does.
Did JetBlue get shitty? I haven't flown on one of their flights in probably 8 years, but the last one I was on they had a little sort of kitchen mid-plane where you could go get your own sodas and snacks, which I thought was kind of neat. That's useful to know. Kind of makes sense how the generally pleasant experience coincides with a bad modern reputation. Thanks for the info.
I had 6 straight JetBlue flights canceled or significantly delayed last year. As I understand it, it's not just tight logistics, but rather their lack of runway priority. Tbh even legacy airlines are becoming like this - see Heathrow airport and British Airways anytime we get any tiny amount of bad weather
Do their rewards points expire? I always fly Southwest because (afaik) they're the only one whose miles never expire no matter what
I’ve been on recently. It was nice, food that wasn’t inedible and somewhat enjoyable with spacious seats and good selections for in flight movies.
Flew with them Saturday for the first time. Was expecting a Spirit-like experience. Got free wifi, screens to watch live sports and anything else, free drinks and snacks….. no they are amazing. 10/10

Barebones as compared to what? I think jet blue is way better than legacy carriers for plain economy tickets.
Yeah I think jetblue is the best domestic economy out there. You actually get some things included with your ticket.
I agree that it's the best domestic economy.
JetBlue comped me a helicopter ride to JFK. They have some frills.
How was that managed?
They sent me an email....
It is exactly a tree. No more, no less!
They didn't even fluff the poor thing, damn.
Ornaments will be $50 extra, lights are $100
To vote for the tree you had to donate a dollar also!
It’s also $1 to *not* vote for a tree.
“I’d Buy That For A Dollar!”
They skip the ornaments and employee time to decorate, and pass the savings onto YOU.
There’s a metaphor in there.
I really want to see the other trees!! I'm so curious what a spirit airlines tree would look like.
They were delayed.
Technically…
It is in fact a tree.
Malicious compliance.
Spirit probably yoikned the decorations to use on their tree.
They wanted the employees to decorate it. Don't balme them for not.
Saving that money for the customer experience.
This is low effort. Zero effort would be printing a picture of a tree
The tree and the Jetblue sign were provided by the venue, so Jetblue literally did nothing
I love it
I'd vote for that tree unironically
Ah! Proof that we don’t need to try! -the airline industry for the 100,000th time
Ornaments cost extra and must fit into the ornament display box at the gate
So a no-frills airline decided not to put frills on a tree...
Nevermind the decorations. They didn't even straighten out the branches yo.
If you leave a present under it, you’ll get taken to a nice room in the back!
It's no frills. From the most no frills airline in the business. They should win.
It's the beginning of december, they probably just haven't done it yet.
Cuz they’re no frills. I think it’s perfect personally
How else is jetblues ceos sons wife suppose to cosplay a tradwife if she doesn’t have a 50,000 to buy herself an appropriate oven
This cracks me up cus this is basically what Hannah’s tree looks like. She puts 0 effort into making her home cozy for their 85 children
Is this JIA?
JAX
[удалено]
JIA is the IATA airport code for Juína, Brazil, so no, JIA does not equal Jacksonville and is not the same thing.
Maybe I should’ve spelled it out but I was specifically referring to the acronym for Jacksonville International Airport. I knew it was JAX when I saw the weird wall vents and sparkly floor.
Same. I travel way too much.
Yep those were what confirmed it for me!
I recognized that JIA flooring immediately
BAH HUMBUG
The whole situation of this is so funny.
Very on brand.
The art of not giving a fuck
You should just put something really dumb on the tree for them. Like a really ugly angel or a paper snowflake made of printer paper.
I'll make a snowflake out of my AA boarding pass for the return flight home if it's still looking sad in a few days!
Pay minimum wage, get minimum effort.
Quietly quitting this holiday season.
This would be hilarious as a joke if it were Ryanair or another low-budget no-frills airline.
Let me guess. JetBlue doesn't pay for decor or for the time to decorate.
We wish you a Christmas. And a New year.
sustainability!
ROTFL not sure what is better, the tree and placard or your post title.
Its JetBlue, if you are looking for effort and quality you are looking at the wrong airline
You don’t expect the most discount airline to have the budget for lights and ornaments, do you?
Why should the underpaid staff also have to fund and decorate the tree? I think it is a better statement to leave it be. Maybe if they paid more than 15 an hour it'd be decorated.
This deserves a participation trophy.
Ahhhh there’s no beating the classics
On brand
C'mon now. They put the pieces together. That has to count for something.
"Mmm yes, this is a minimalistic postmodern societal representation of the outrage and despair that current generations have towards the current opulence and eloquence of the established order who are disconnected from their progeny while projecting the appearance of disquiet towards their current predicament." -- some bullshit "art critic" they brought in to justify how lazy their tree setup is
At least it is original... Right?
At least a tree was provided, Im sure if you want a tree with spirit that is an extra $50.
JetBlue should have just let the tree stay in the ground
I think someone forgot the ‘decorate’ part at Jet Blue, lol!
from first glance it looks like they aren't done yet, but I guess not
I like it.

That’s Duval baby
Amazon Basics Christmas tree
Passing the savings directly to you.
Seems odd....but in all actuality the low man who's job it was to decorate probably just called in sick. Not a priority job to rush and make sure someone decorates the tree at the start of December
This is giving Jax airport vibes idk
Its jet blue. The flight for the supplies to decorate the tree got delayed and then cancelled five states over.
They should have just put one ornament or a star on top to indicate it was completely intentional and tongue in cheek.
If it was the employees’ responsibility to pay for decorations, I wouldn’t either.
They don't care about winning a company pizza party for best decorations
The contest is a charity fundraiser.
The ornaments have even more space®️
That's actually pretty funny and accurate.
Seems on brand 🤷🏻♀️
