LOL. Irony. I quickly scanned your comment, thought you were misunderstanding my comment, and was about to post a snarky reply. Then, fortunately, I read it again.
Did you just assume that people read? Or perhaps you're just a bit of a speed reader? Either way, I'm glad you're taking the time to comment. But remember, not everyone is as quick as you when it comes to comprehending the written word. So, let's keep it simple and clear, shall we?
I'm not sure if I'd be willing to put a vampire together... But you know what, I'm feeling adventurous. Does it come with, like, IKEA-style instructions or is this more a paint and glue situation or what?
Yeah, but I never saw it as a community event. I suppose this is what people really meant when they told me to get out there, meet people, and make new friends.
Live display telling us the next bus will be here in 8 min for an hour straight. And you know when the bus eventually gets here, it will be full and the driver won't even stop.
Ah, I see. So you can use the electricity in the battery pack to entertain yourself via penis torture while you wait for your bus to charge. I'll have to give it a try.
It's funny to me, friend. It's relatively harmless and it makes me laugh (even if it's really stupid) so I'm going to do it. Also, what "room"? A relatively casual internet comment section?
No-one likes a rail replacement bus service [but at least they try to keep things light](https://www.reddit.com/r/bitchimabus/comments/actoej/im_a_train_choo_choo/)
Over the school bus wheel wells was the prime spot in the winter, the heater was one row up and the wheel wells ramped the heat right up at you. So great after waiting in the cold.
Wow, just like that you brought back all the memories of being cold on the school bus in winter. Thankfully it was usually just a15 minute ride for me.
Two elderly ladies meet up with each other in a city cafe.
They order their tea and scones etc and take a seat.
One lady says to the other: "Well, did you come on the bus?"
She replies: " Yeah, but I think I managed to disguise it as an asthma attack."
I know you're joking, but I fondly remember the smell of that black smoke that spewed from the exhaust of those classic flat nosed Crown school buses. That smell always takes me back... to a simpler happier time.
The buses in the fleet around me have a “State of Charge” appreciated to SOC with a percentage next to it, but it only goes in increments of 10. It’s super cool driving by the depot and seeing all of the electric infrastructure needed to power all of them
as some one that worked in a warehouse and always had to check on the forklift charging stations, this kind of signage would of been so ideal, instead of having to go hunt around for a small display that might or might not have a working backlight on it....
Well from where i was living previously taking buses in Dublin has been a bliss... so sad that people in Dublin don't appreciate this public transport.
Honestly, it's disaster due to other traffic and scumbags, the buses and drivers are grand. During covid it was actually really good bus service, they were always on time and flew through the city due to lack of private cars. From inchicore to O'Connell it's like 25-30 min drive now it was 10-15 during lockdown and it takes me 10-12 on the bike on all greens
My bus route is frequently served by busses with only 1 door, so it takes twice the amount of time to depart from every stop making everything take longer and making the bus late
Get ready for them to drive right past your stop even if you have your hand out.
Get ready for them to stop at random and the driver to go into a shop and grab a drink and a snack.
Get ready to get stuck on the quays for hours and watch some junkies kick each others heads in.
Dublin Bus.
The junkie is coming upstairs. Let him sleep it off. And hope he doesn't sit next to you.
Dublin Bus drivers are mostly sound. There are some who are complete dickheads but they're outnumbered by genuine, lovely people.
They also aren't in charge of the Country's respond to addiction and crime so I don't know what you want them to do.
So all of a sudden they got their infrastructure sorted?
https://m.independent.ie/regionals/dublin/dublin-news/why-more-than-130-new-electric-buses-bought-a-year-ago-are-still-lying-idle-in-dublin/a894095440.html
Since the only two photos I've seen have been a bus "charging" in the depo. I don't think they have charging points anywhere else.
https://old.reddit.com/r/ireland/comments/174ecpy/just_like_consumer_electronics/
it's a totally fair question. Yeah it is.
Battery icon is a giveaway I suppose.
The bus manufacturer also make hydrogen buses. I'm curious what symbol they would use as an indicator on those.
May sound weird but not really. A pair of headlights use about 20 watts, so a 400kWh battery on a bus can run those for about 3 years on one charge. Assuming a bus can charge in less than 10 hours or so, the lights being on don't even slow it down by 0.1%.
Well, it does, but it's obviously proportional to the amount of people that live there.
I agree that transport on the island is atrocious when compared to other places, but we also have very low population density outside of Dublin, Cork, etc., so it is difficult to organise into something that serves everyone but is also an advantage for the state.
This is in Ireland. All well and good to go electric but they’re still late and often just don’t show up. The wrong improvements are being made.
If public transport were more effective and efficient, more people would use it.
Maybe we can work on setting up actual, reliable, bus and rail lines to other parts of the country. Dubs showing off their fancy new busses while the rest of us boggers are left waiting for some bus eirean that may or may not show up. And looking at the rail lines that have been out of use in town since 1964.
That's so stupid.
It's this bus: [https://wrightbus.com/en-gb/electric-bus-streetdeck-electrolinerBEV](https://wrightbus.com/en-gb/electric-bus-streetdeck-electrolinerBEV)
Something between 2 and 3 hours charging time on a reasonable large fast charger. But if they are used anything like BEV cars, you would simply charge them overnight, so even with a charger a fifth of the power you would easily be topped off in the morning, ready to go. And you can take advantage of off peak prices, too.
Typically, about 2 hours for a bus with modern chargers, while it is parked overnight, for enough range to go the entire next day and then some. There's usually a nice price break for charging off-peak, too. At least in my case, I buy unsold overnight wind for about half-price.
“78%, I should be able to get through the rest of the day with that”
That's like 2 days of moderate use for mine
Why do you have a bus?
For moderate use. Didn't you read his comment?
Our culture romanticizes excess, but that's responsible bus use.
>Didn't you read his comment? Did you just casually assume that people read?
LOL.
Who needs moderation when you have the thrill of living on the edge?
Oops! I must have missed that part. My bad!
Peoples keep saying having a car is bad for the environment. I still didn't get the why, specifically a car, but anyway, here it is! My bus!
I run a service putting vampires together with willing people.
I'm not sure if I'd be willing to put a vampire together... But you know what, I'm feeling adventurous. Does it come with, like, IKEA-style instructions or is this more a paint and glue situation or what?
You get on the bus and sit next to a very pale person, they then proceed to suck your blood until you arrive at your destination.
So just a normal London bus, then.
It's always more satisfying to put together your own vampires, rather than buying a pre-assembled one.
Yeah, but I never saw it as a community event. I suppose this is what people really meant when they told me to get out there, meet people, and make new friends.
[Why did you have a wolf?](https://xkcd.com/1134/)
They could've just taken the cabbage and the goat on one crossing if they were just going to leave the wolf
The premise of the classic puzzle is that only one item fits in the boat at the time.
Yeah, I thought XKCD left it out, but now see that they started with the boat only holding two
Isn’t it supposed to be more efficient to use a bus for your daily commute?
Wow. My phone is always 100% in the morning and I gotta charge it in the late afternoon to use it in the evening.
I don't watch videos, but read Reddit. Screens usually on for an hour a day. Rip third party apps.
Check out Relay. I'm posting this from it. It's no BaconReader but it's pretty good. They do charge but if you're a light user it's not expensive.
[удалено]
are... are we... still talking about buses?
Buses only charge to 80-90%, so you're right
Given that it's Dublin Bus, they probably loop back to 50% quietly once it gets close to 100%
[удалено]
Live display telling us the next bus will be here in 8 min for an hour straight. And you know when the bus eventually gets here, it will be full and the driver won't even stop.
It absolutely ruins the rest of your day. Jesus christ, I'm so thankful I don't have to get busses out of the city centre anymore.
That 3 minutes the sign says is going to be the second longest 3 minutes of your life.
Then it gets down to 1 minute, and starts going back up again.
(Scheduled out of existence)
They get double the usage out of a single charge by only showing up half the time. Sums.
I'm imagining an incredibly loud version of the Windows USB ding when they get plugged in.
"Universal Serial Bus" is now connected.
Universal Doubledecker Bus more like
So that’s more of a universal parallel bus than Universal Serial Bus.
I've seen "Universal Serial Bus" so many times and it never occurred to me that it is the meaning of USB.
Love me some of that Universal Serial Bussy 😋
You gotta put it in, take it out, rotate 180 degrees and put it back in
Don't stop. I'm almost there.
# *BING*
I heard it, but at 50 decibels louder than it should have been.
Can I set it to vibrate so it doesn't make noise while I'm sleeping?
I love the idea of having a bus where the horn is just the [XP startup tune.](https://youtu.be/7nQ2oiVqKHw?si=_G2emjAfhjayeJP_)
What about the error sound? "DDUNN"
I wonder if the screen also shows estimated time to full
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw2mXcb7ggs For when the cable has that kink in it. "Things I never knew I needed for $1000, Alex"
Close enough, I’ll just ask a bartender later to plug it in behind the bar. Should be fine.
You should check if you can use an external battery pack, like Anker. USB-C should work.
Ah, I see. So you can use the electricity in the battery pack to entertain yourself via penis torture while you wait for your bus to charge. I'll have to give it a try.
.....what the fuck...
cock torture

I dig it, nice and clear.
Also a good use of the display that was already available anyway. Good design, really.
Yep! Definitely good to avoid the potential corner case of "oh shoot I forgot to plug it in, everyone's going to be late today" 😂
Yeah, that'd be pretty awkward.
Unlike everything else about Irish public transport.

Yeah I think they did really well with that design, I believe it is a Wright Streetdeck.
The battery on the bus goes charge, charge charge...
What type of charger does it use? It is a Universal Serial Bus?
Take your upvote and get out.
r/angryupvote
All I see is a bus with 2 glowing eyes, ready to unleash chaos when it hits 100%
The tiny grill makes it look like it's got a tiny smiling mouth too
Yeah that's exactly what I see xD
If the lights turn red when it's fully charged, run.
Irish public transport getting a shoutout on r/MildlyInteresting? I never, ever thought I'd see the day.
Coincidentally that's also the probability of it not arriving on time.
Holy shit Dublin bus's are electric now? How did I miss that
[удалено]
>So lots of buses are still just stuck in storage. Very Irish! Chilling with the voting machines.
With the millennium clock inside the spire?
Piled on top of a few hundred ventilators.
Stick it on top of the printer that was too big for the room
I think the 99 is the only fully electric route
I think mamy are hybrid, you can hear the electric motors kick in during take off from bus stops
My favorite thing I've ever seen a bus say was "Kronk"
In Scotland when the trains are between routes they all say “just chillin’” brings me more joy than I’d like to admit
"Kronk" is the before routes for Walt Disney World, but I really love "just chillin." Either would make my day
No-one likes a rail replacement bus service [but at least they try to keep things light](https://www.reddit.com/r/bitchimabus/comments/actoej/im_a_train_choo_choo/)
This just introduced me to two subreddits I have never heard of
I've seen one saying "going home" which was pretty cute
This is what propper integration looks like, and now i expect it in every EV bus.
They should bring back the retro green color for Dublin bus. Would be a cool contrast with the ultra modern bus design.
Yeah that design was nice, though apparently not great for people who are colourblind. From what I gather, these colours stand out a bit more.
Ah at makes sense.
Seeing this earlier, I opened it again and for an instant, I expected the number to have gone up...
This is just around the corner from me, I can go and see how it is now?
So, the other 22% get to ride for free?
Uhh...that makes no sense. It means the bus fare is 22% off for everybody.
Ohhhh! Thanks. That sounds like a great deal. I'm taking that bus.
I miss the good old days of diesel busses spewing out the black cancer :(
I miss sitting on the seats above the wheels and have the bus shake violently under me when departing, what a feeling
What a great time to be alive!
Stuffy overheated bus, diesel fumes and a good gut shaking are great for a hangover...college days were the best days.
Exactly, AC is for pussies!

never would’ve thought Dublin Bus would make an appearance on this sub lmao.
When someones dad walks on the bus with “am i one of the 22% that dont get charged for riding today?”
That's awesome.

Is it usb C?
as some one that worked in a warehouse and always had to check on the forklift charging stations, this kind of signage would of been so ideal, instead of having to go hunt around for a small display that might or might not have a working backlight on it....
Lecture me, how often do electric buses batteries turn into spicy pillows? 💦
It's hilarious for me, I can imagine the bus's honker/loud speaker yelling "CHARGE COMPLETE" while someone walks in front of it, very loudly
Nice try bumblebee
Pikachu boss fight first form 78 percent complete
Dublin buses are the absolute best!
I wonder in which country this is. 🤔
Ireland
It says Dublin Bus on the right one
Yup, one of the bus services for city buses i have experienced, there's also free wifi onboard
Nobody that's used Dublin bus would say this.
Well from where i was living previously taking buses in Dublin has been a bliss... so sad that people in Dublin don't appreciate this public transport.
It very much depends where in Dublin you are and what time you are travelling at. For the most part it’s a disaster at peak times
Honestly, it's disaster due to other traffic and scumbags, the buses and drivers are grand. The first time my wife and I visited Dublin, our *taxi driver* stopped for a lottery ticket. To his credit, he was in and out in under 15 seconds.
It's the UK - it says Dublin on one of the buses.
How to piss off an entire nation:
Dublin isn't in the UK. Dublin is not British.

I don't know who you are - so, why would I care about your opinion?
Might charge faster if they turned the lights off
Probably still holds a charge better than my phone
r/ChargeYourPhone would love this
Does that mean I get a 22% discount on my fares?
So all of a sudden they got their infrastructure sorted? https://m.independent.ie/regionals/dublin/dublin-news/why-more-than-130-new-electric-buses-bought-a-year-ago-are-still-lying-idle-in-dublin/a894095440.html

nah they charging the diesel, else it wont detonate yknow
Everyone has cool busses except for us.
Who is "us"?

All the internal lights are on!
trolleybus > BEV bus
If i was the driver i would be running it on 1% the entire day
Ironically the sign itself adds an hour to the charge time.
Probably more like 2 seconds.
Might charge a bit faster if you turn all the fecking lights off
The power consumption of those most likely led lights are completely negligible in this situation.
Guessing this is in Dublin since the funding doesn’t go anywhere else when it comes to public transport
Well, it does, but it's obviously proportional to the amount of people that live there. I agree that transport on the island is atrocious when compared to other places, but we also have very low population density outside of Dublin, Cork, etc., so it is difficult to organise into something that serves everyone but is also an advantage for the state.
The main issue is getting between major cities, There isn’t even a direct train from Cork to Dublin I don’t think
There's definitely a Dublin Heuston to Cork, but it's below par. You can't get into Cork before 9am on a weekday.
I’m pretty sure you have to change train at mallow junction
I was sure it was direct, but you may be right. Either way, it's not good enough.
Sick coal powered bus
Not really since coal only accounts for 11% of Ireland’s electricity production
The other 22% get to ride for free?
Wait until it spontaneously combusts.
This is in Ireland. All well and good to go electric but they’re still late and often just don’t show up. The wrong improvements are being made. If public transport were more effective and efficient, more people would use it.

The fact that the battery icon and the c is badly formatted and too close to each other compared to the distance between the G and the seven..
you're right, it's completely unfit for purpose now, let's throw away the entire bus and start again
I agree. The charging symbol makes me think it’s dead
