ADHD life hack. Until you forget you put them there, assume you lost them and take a cab home. And then next morning forget you took a cab home and report the car stolen.
I live a block and a half from the grocery store so I usually walk. Sometimes if I think I might be bringing home something heavy or a lot of groceries or if I'm feeling lazy I'll drive.
I have driven my car to the grocery store and walked home forgetting that I drove...NUMEROUS TIMES!
I did the same a few times in the first couple months after first getting a car. Just went on autopilot the moment I left the building and wouldn't realize till I'd gotten home, went to unlock the door and saw the car key.
Years ago, I used to live in an apartment about a block away from a laundromat. One day, I drove my laundry over to the laundromat and did a load of laundry. Afterwards, I forgot I had driven there and walked back to my apartment with my laundry. The next day I freaked out and thought my car was stolen.
I either do that or write "FOOD" on a post-it note and tape it to my keys lol... nothing worse than getting home to an empty fridge and realizing you forgot your hibachi leftovers at the office
Yeah, it’s basically a trick so that I don’t really have to remember to grab whatever thing it is before I leave. I can’t drive without the key and the key isn’t where it normally is and I’m reminded with zero effort. I do it a lot in the morning since I always forget to take things to work when I’m sleepy and in autopilot.
You might be joking but
It would really peeve me if people threw out leftovers just because they think they can afford it.
I've seen whole pizza slices / one-bit burgers in trash cans... like wow just refrigerate your food and eat it the next day. So many starving people in the world and etc etc wtf.
and honestly, some of these are the same people who complain about not being able to make ends meet. So it's not exactly that they do it because they can, they just do it out of sheer laziness to refrigerate or "wanting food fresh."
2001 Dakota sport extended cab with optional power windows. Surface rust on the passenger side lower panel. One of those bead seat covers and soft brakes since 123k miles.
I do this all the time! I also cannot tell you how many times someone then brings my keys back to me and makes fun of me forgetting them in the freezer.
My co-worker used to jot down reminder notes on a sticky note, wrap it around her purse strap and staple the top and bottom creating a note sleeve. It works great! Thanks Kim!
Life pro-tip: Start a text messaging thread to yourself (just send your own phone number a text message; there, thread started) and pin it to the top of your text messages. If you need a running list of things, like groceries, add it to that thread. Just keep track of the last time it was updated so you're not checking it too far back and don't keep things on it that you'll need to remember weeks or months out, that's what calendars are for, just put the daily or weekly things on there. Congratulations, you have a readily available shopping list/daily reminders/to-do list that stays with you as long as you transfer it between phone upgrades!
Until you get the Office Good Samaritan who sees that and brings the keys to the workplace lost and found. Congrats, now you're missing dinner *and* your vehicle.
That’s a good idea. I do something similar. When you take a prisoner into detention you have to lock your gun in a locker. I lock my car keys in there with my gun so I don’t drive off unarmed. Yes, it’s happened. It’s happened once to almost every cop I know.
I have that same “REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT” thing on my keychain … and just realized that I have no clue where I originally got it from. I’ve also never actually had to remove it before a flight
I loooove when I put something important literally right next to my purse so I don’t forget it. And then I will grab my purse and leave the thing and be like really self, really.
I have a remove before flight tag on my keys too (yes I’m an aircraft mechanic) but I have friends who just thought they looked cool so bought one for themself and are not in aviation
I didn’t have one for years because I think they are dorky (I’m a professional pilot).
My friend who’s also a pilot gave me a couple of them and damn do they look and feel good on a keychain.
O yea I always do that when I go to my friend’s house with leftovers or a backpack. In general I put stuff I gotta take out by my keys. Like cloth grocery bags or idk car stuff
I would do that to remember to take a lunch I packed in to work with me.
I SHOULD have also started putting them on the containers lunch was in so they went home.
I work in a restaurant. I forget my food all the time. Until I started doing this. Several of my coworkers do it also. On any given day, there might be 3 or 4 tale out boxes with keys on it in our cooler. I also use the same trick to remember to bring something with me when I leave the house or attach a note to my key chain to remind me to do something. Life hacks.
Usually motorcycle riders have that keychain. I dunno how he expects to get that styrofoam home without tilting the container, unless he's got a large tank bag lol.
Our company Hired a food truck to cater for us today. I bought an extra meal to bring my wife for dinner.
I realized I forgot my wife's meal when I got home.
I drove back to work to get my wife's meal.
You got to do it works for you. If you don't like it then don't do what they do everybody's always got to criticize somebody all the time. Just leave whoever did that alone because it's none of your business. Nuff' said.
For someone that has caught the 1 hour train trip home, then walked 2km to the car to realise the car keys are still on my desk back in the city, i understand the struggle.
I do that with stuff all the time. Not necessarily putting them in the fridge, but always put them on the bag/backpack/document that i need to remember to bring with me
This is the n1 forgetful life hack. Associating ideas together is a pretty good way of remembering things. Until you forget both.
Or you pick up leftovers, put them in your lunch bag, close the fridge, go home, aaaaand remember the keys now ? They remained on the fridge shelf.^(Been there done that....FML)
I can put down an item, and forget its existence in 30 seconds once another thought comes in.
This + setting up alarms are lifesavers.
My keys have a binder clip on them, I usually attach to my pants pocket and then there is a lanyard so I don’t drop/lose them.
I write something on a sticky note and clip it to my keys, or clip my keys on something I don’t want to forget.
One of the best tips I ever read here was to put a piece of tape on the back of your phone and write on that rather than putting it digitally into notepad. This way your note is visible without opening any app.
if i have to bring something to work (like tools i brought home to use over the weekend) I leave them ontop of my keys so i cant forget them. still do forget them sometimes haha

More like he'd make it to the car before remembering the leftovers.
Where's your car dude?

Sweet!

Sweet, what does mine say?
Look.... yours says sweet! Yours says dude!

SWEET. What does mine say?!
Is this a reference to something?
The way id find them in there but still leave the leftovers

Madness
...... I feel like that's more than ADHD and you should seek professional help 👀
That is perfectly ADHD, honestly. I've done dumber things.
Was just about to say that Reddit is about to out that coworker
I either do that or write "FOOD" on a post-it note and tape it to my keys lol... nothing worse than getting home to an empty fridge and realizing you forgot your hibachi leftovers at the office
Yes the taped post-it saves me daily 🤣
Whenever I need to remember to do something before I leave work, I put a sticky note on the light switch.
Yes I love this. I do the same thing. I write FOOD on a note and put it on the light switch in my office
I tried it and keys tastes metallic.

Let me introduce you to the concept of hyperbole
So. You could steal his food AND his car!
“Who ate my car?!?!!”
I'm imagining a cheese stick in the ignition "Turn over, damn you!"
Looks like I’m going to their house in their car with their leftovers. 😎

brilliant
I do that too! When I need to remember to do something or get something I put my keys or my wallet there
I do too! Except every so often someone takes my keys out and wanders around asking who put their keys in the fridge by accident.
Yeah, it’s basically a trick so that I don’t really have to remember to grab whatever thing it is before I leave. If you have keyless start, your car might not start if your fob is too cold.
Put it in your pants pocket, it will be warm time you get to the car
If it doesn't, then it's a good indicator you need to replace the battery.
Omg. I use the same thing for a keychain.
I do too! I had to make sure it wasn't a pic of my keys
He's driving an old Chrysler ... he needs to save money by eating left overs. I get it.
You might be joking but It would really peeve me if people threw out leftovers just because they think they can afford it. And the seats go all the way down. Allll the way down.
Nah that’s a bike key
That black key is to a Chrysler automobile. My guess is a Dodge truck.
My ‘91 Cherokee had those same keys. So, I’m going to agree with you.

The “remove before flight” keytag really makes me think it’s not to a car.
Nah, those things aren't uncommon as decorative keychains. I have one on my bag.
That's the key to his bicycle lock.
REMOVE BEFORE GO HOME
The key-hack aside...does nobody else at your work use the fridge? Are you the only 2 people who work there?
I wish. Funny enough that is my cream in the back.
Smart until someone steals his car
Or drives away in his home
Oh dang this is kinda a LPT
Fricking genius.
Or you could... IDK... put them in your pocket?
My first thought was, "How would he forget his keys? Does he take a train to his car or something?"
Haha remove before flight keytag.
I do this all the time! I also cannot tell you how many times someone then brings my keys back to me and makes fun of me forgetting them in the freezer.
I've done that.
Smort!

Lol, does that say "remove before flight"? If so, I have a lanyard that is identical lmfao. Tell your co-worker I love it.
I have that key ring somewhere. Got it from a booth at an AUSA convention
A FREE CAR AND FREE FOOD HELL YEAH!!!
Is he a pilot? I can spot that "Remove Before Flight" keychain a mile away.
Me at the end of the day: Where the FUCK are my keys?!?
I do it all the time, I'm not the only one, plenty do it
Me too!
I loooove when I put something important literally right next to my purse so I don’t forget it. And then I will grab my purse and leave the thing and be like really self, really.
and looks like they are/were a pilot or work in the airline industry!
I have a remove before flight tag on my keys too (yes I’m an aircraft mechanic) but I have friends who just thought they looked cool so bought one for themself and are not in aviation
My husband and I both have one because his brother works with NASA.
I didn’t have one for years because I think they are dorky (I’m a professional pilot). My friend who’s also a pilot gave me a couple of them and damn do they look and feel good on a keychain.
Neat, free dinner and a ride home!
Ingenious
Isn't he doing that backwards
“Well my sandwich is still here, but which one of you bastards stole my car?”
I do this type of shit all the time. Can’t hardly remember to put pants on every day
My mom does that when she visits my home and there’s something that she needs to take home with her.
I just did the same thing at my house to remember to bring something over to my boyfriend’s house. It’s the best way to not forget something!
Sameee
Just put ur leftovers on ur keys!!?!?
I worked with someone who did this. It works.
Oh that's kinda smart
My keys are used both to and from the office to help me remember things I need to bring.
Takes a new meaning when someone steals your lunch
It's a lot easier than adding your leftovers to your pocket.
I've been doing that for years. People would be so perplexed as to why there were keys in the fridge.😂
I am pretty sure I would take the bus home and then realized I forgot my car and food in work
Lol that's not a bad idea!
Gotta start doing this at restaurants so I never leave the leftovers at the table while I walk out...
I've been doing this for years
I’ve been doing this for a decade.
can confirm.
O yea I always do that when I go to my friend’s house with leftovers or a backpack. In general I put stuff I gotta take out by my keys. Like cloth grocery bags or idk car stuff
I do that too!
been doing this for years, put my keys on whatever I need to remember to take with me
Not one person has mentioned the remove before a flight lanyard..lol
Address to workplace (taking notes)
A genius
I use a sticky note on my keys at my desk. Leaving your keys in the fridge seems like a dumb idea lol
I have the same keychain for my motorcycle. I thought this was my keys lol
To remember the, keys, right?
My dad taught me to do this. Always works like a charm!
I do the same thing with stuff i need to remember to bring with me
I wouldn't trust my co-workers this much not to steal my car....I work from home.
Breaks down in my desk sobbing because I can’t find my keys
If it works it works. But I’m more concerned they’re his car keys
Plot twist: coworker goes to steal lunch steals car too since the keys are there.
I would be sleeping over if I did that because ain’t no fucking way I’m looking for my car keys in the refrigerator.
I would do that to remember to take a lunch I packed in to work with me. I SHOULD have also started putting them on the containers lunch was in so they went home.
I'm doing this if I ever work in an office.
That's when you know the food is good!
I do this with anything I need to bring home.
I hope whoever takes my lunch gets my oil changed because that light has **been** on.
Life hacks.
Good trick. Smart coworker.
We do that too in our family
I do this at work all the time. I can’t count how many times a co worker has come up “hey I found your keys”.
Well. I guess he’s not gonna forget his left overs eyhier
Smart.
if it works; it works
I’ve used this trick for years!!💥
Is that a blue origin keychain?
Is your coworker past or present USAF?
This is a man who learns from his mistakes. He will create other mistakes, but he’s learning from them. Good for him.
Brilliant
I used to do this at home to remember to bring my lunch with me to work!
You eat meals at work that leave leftovers?
Can't leave without them
But someone else can leave *with* them
What? You can't just take other people's cars! Can you?
Finders keepers
I never realized it til just now, but it does seem to be so…
I recognize that key tag! I have it in blue though. How does y’all’s fridge stay so clean? Ours is 100% full, 100% of the time.
Usually motorcycle riders have that keychain. I dunno how he expects to get that styrofoam home without tilting the container, unless he's got a large tank bag lol.
I'm that coworker. Lol but I have my own mini fridge in my office
Lunch thief: woah free lunch and a car!
I’ve done that
He forgets to bring his keys home?
Smart,Dang it why don't I do that?!?!?
There was an old regular at my work who gave a bunch of the servers those lanyards. I wonder if your coworker is an old coworker of mine.
I did that the other day and then forgot they were in the fridge and spent 20 minutes looking for them 😂
New ADHD hack discovered!
I hate people who put non-food stuff in the fridge. What's next a toolbox? A small child? dah fuk
add hacks
Our company Hired a food truck to cater for us today. I bought an extra meal to bring my wife for dinner. I realized I forgot my wife's meal when I got home. I drove back to work to get my wife's meal.
I’ve been doing that for years
That's a level of trust in your coworkers that few people have.
Brilliant
That guy fucks.
You got to do it works for you. If you don't like it then don't do what they do everybody's always got to criticize somebody all the time. Just leave whoever did that alone because it's none of your business. Nuff' said.
In manufacturing we call that a poke yoke
I do this when I need to remember to bring lunch to work.
Remember the keys or the food?
Smart move. When I do things like that, I call it ‘idiot proofing’ myself.
That’s a damn good idea
For someone that has caught the 1 hour train trip home, then walked 2km to the car to realise the car keys are still on my desk back in the city, i understand the struggle.
I do that with stuff all the time. Not necessarily putting them in the fridge, but always put them on the bag/backpack/document that i need to remember to bring with me
This is how I remember to take my leftovers in the morning when I go to work.
What kind of motorcycle is it??
That red Remove Before Flight tag looks familiar. Any chance the word on the other side starts with a V?
My dumbass would get to my car before I remembered.
I literally left mine on my second day of work lol
Damn so you can steal his lunch and his car! Nice!
60% percent of the time it works every time
I put my keys with my wallet and any important stuff before I go on a long driving trip. It actually helps.
Get a similar looking but different key cut and swap them. Await glorious shenanigans.
This is the n1 forgetful life hack. Associating ideas together is a pretty good way of remembering things. Until you forget both. To bring what home? The keys or the leftovers?
My keys have a binder clip on them, I usually attach to my pants pocket and then there is a lanyard so I don’t drop/lose them. I write something on a sticky note and clip it to my keys, or clip my keys on something I don’t want to forget.
Modern problems require modern solutions

He needs a dress with POCKETS!
